I am a licensed psychotherapist in Minnesota with 15 years of experience providing mental health services to diverse client populations. Having been trained in a variety of treatment models, I provide client centered care to each client. This means that my approach with each client is tailored and adjusted to their specific treatment needs and preferences.

I have come to learn the art of psychotherapy involves a blend of supporting and validating clients while also motivating change and integration of new patterns of living. I firmly believe the quality of the relationship between a client and therapist is critical for healing and growth. In fact, research consistently identifies the quality of the therapeutic alliance as the most important factor in achieving a positive therapeutic outcome.

It is your responsibility to investigate whether your insurance will cover my fees. You will normally find the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and you will be checking your mental health/behavioral health benefits. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan.
I believe each of us has an innate and primary psychological need to be understood by others. Therefore, I strive to fully understand each client's individual perspective and unique life experience. I will not generalize your situation or focus on a diagnosis or label. I respect the dignity and worth of the individual, value self-determination, and don't view clients as unwell or ill.
Mindfulness is consciously bringing your awareness into your here-and-now experience with openness, interest, and receptiveness. This is based on the view that the ongoing attempt to get rid of 'symptoms' actually creates a clinical disorder in the first place.

As soon as a private experience is labeled a 'symptom, it immediately sets up a struggle with it because a 'symptom' is by definition something 'pathological, ' something we should try to get rid of.The aim is to transform our relationship with our difficult thoughts and feelings, so that we no longer perceive them as 'symptoms.'
