A Place In The Sun Garden Hotel
This charming Pet-friendly, mid-century modernism inn is on over an acre of lush lawns and fragrant park gardens. Immaculately maintained & lovingly restored, it was originally built in the early 1950's as a retreat for the cast and crew of the film classic "A Place in the Sun" starring Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift and Shelley Winters.

Classy Palm Springs style melds with modern updates such as free high-speed internet access, heated saltwater pool and saltwater jacuzzi, and professional artificial turf putting green. Check out our micro mist system around the poolside gazebo, and custom rings around each of 8 palm trees surrounding the pool.
Services
We strive daily to do everything in our power to insure the comfort and security of each of our guests at A Place in the Sun. Whenever we learn of any new requirements, ADA or otherwise, we thoroughly investigate and comply wherever possible. This property is compliant wherever readily achievable. See details below.
A Place in the Sun Hotel of Beautiful Palm Springs is truly a special place. Step off the hustle and bustle of Downtown Palm Springs and walk through our garden gates. You will find an exquisite relaxing oasis hidden in the desert. Eighteen single-story bungalows form an enclave around the sparkling, heated salt-water pool and jacuzzi located in our 1 acre park garden.
This cozy little bungalow next to the office has a living room with couch and easy chair and an electric fireplace that can be used any time of the year (the heat can be turned off for summer). The separate bedroom has a king bed. There's a fully equipped kitchen, big bath with tub and shower, and small private walled patio with patio table and chairs.
A Place in the Sun is a great place to hold your wedding, retreat, family reunion, or any other event where you can book all 18 rooms and bungalows at this unique property. Set on an acre of lush lawns and fragrant flowers, all units form a perimeter around the heated saltwater pool and spa, professional putting green, and poolside gazebo where guests gather, and meals can be served.

Wow! Just wow. The responses from the management here are incredibly rude and unprofessional. Not only that, they infringe on guests' personal information. This does not seem like a welcome, hospitable place. Disappointing.
Edit/Response: I actually was a guest under the previous owners and Norma did not respond to us this way. You can critique the platform but your responses are unprofessional and demeaning towards your guests. I will not return to a place where the management treats people this way.*Additionally, you HAVE acknowledged all the "low life posts". You have actually

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We love staying at boutique hotels and this one did not disappoint.
It’s a cute 1950s hotel with a rich history.
We loved having a living room with a huge wrap around couch to hang out in.
It’s spacious and in a great location.
It also has fantastic WiFi. 😊
We look forward to returning and bringing our dog.

The grounds are very nice and our room was spacious and had a nice grassy yard for our small dog. We had Troubles figuring out how to turn on the air conditioning and bedroom fan isn't working. When I went to ask for assistance from the housekeeper/property manager she got very angry with me and yelled at me for complaining about it. Saying it's not her problem. She asked me how I liked my room and I said it's probably time to replace the mattress as it was getting uncomfortable and very squeaky. I started to walk away and she followed me with her rolling trash can yelling at

This is the worst experience in a hotel I've ever had it's gross and disgusting. I recommend to read all reviews before you spend a dime on this place. There's other places and Palm springs that treat you better you will regret coming here. I understand if you write a bad review the manager will write a worse one on you.

Was not worth the money.
Room was dark and in need of some love.
This place hasn't any updates since the 80s and they were bad back then.
The bed was like sleeping on the floor with sheets and a blanket. I would never ever say it was a boutique hotel it is a run-down Hotel charging a high-dollar.
Definitely not a mid-century modern Place either. This place was built in the early going to say 1900 and it shows plumbing and electrical conduit and pipes are on the outside of all walls. The kitchen is not even connected to the walls. Has no bathtub only a shower that is big enough for you to stand

These are quaint, quiet, and dog friendly vintage bungalows. There’s a classic clean pool that has a 10 foot deep end and a hot tub surrounded by impeccably pruned palm trees with a gazebo that included a full size propane grill, counter space and mini fridge for guests. There’s even a small putting green. The Tahquitz River Wash trail to walk our dog was right out the back gate. The rooms were big and decorated with some cool vintage Bahamas style furnishings. It included a full kitchen, dinette and private garden patio with patio furniture. Our stay here was very relaxing, we used the cute

This is a really nice hotel for a weekend getaway. It is clean and very dog friendly. All of the bungalows surrounds the pool and they set the pool for a really nice ambience for night swimming and chilling. The pool and jacuzzi was the same warm temperature, but we were there at over 110 degrees so it was a bit funny.

Upon entering, there are parking in the front and an access code gate. Everything is self check-in like an airbnb. All information was sent prior to arrival to the booking email.

The AC was on blast, so thank goodness.
Everything was clean.
Our bungalow has a nice patio, great

This is now a Place In My Heart !

I loved this place they treated me like family from the very beginning. I walked through the gate and could not believe how beautiful the inner courtyard garden is. It was not a garden it was a football field. So spacious, gorgeous pools, sparkling palms, that are night light up the garden like fairyland.

They are even a Pet Friendly Hotel !!! Gigi and Coco my two papillons are going to find it hard to go back home where there aren't lights on the trees. It was easy to walk them off the property through the garden gate strolling the riverside doggie park

The Prince and Princess of Austria? These people are HORRIBLE! Austria deserves better and so does Palm Springs!
They show up with their nasty Louis Vuitton masks on , screaming at guests and filming them, trying to provoke them.
They kick people out every night. Not me but more than one person I know.

This place is absolutely awful. They will call the cops on you for no reason and the owners will film you in your face!! They are so disrespectful and I would never stay here or recommend this place to anyone! They don't even deserve 1 star.

I've been coming here for more than 15 years and I can't believe the bad reviews this has always been my go to when in Palm Springs because of their dog policy.
I didn't know Norma and Ron sold the hotel as mentioned in some of the reviews but I did call the hotel and ask if this was true and was told that they still own it? Don't really know what is going on with that but would like to find out. I'm giving 5 stars because of previous visits as I have not stayed there since 2019 and didn't come in 2020 because of Covid. So I would like to know from the new owners

Big bungalow rooms and wonderful beds, what a cute boutique hotel for my June weekend. Very clean and nice grounds and facilities. Loved the king bed and extra comfy sofa bed. We had our own kitchen. Staff was amazing and gave us local restaurant addresses and helped us get reservations which was pretty awesome too. Waking up seeing hummingbirds outside the wide windows and then watching squirrels play in the palm tree while chilling in the jacuzzi was cute. Pretty unique is the big private garden next to my unit with a wall around which was great privacy for our dinners and breakfast. Strong barbecue

We try not to travel on holiday weekends due to overcrowding, but it was also my birthday so we went for it - had no problems with check in at gate , received the emailed instructions & house rules, it is a residential area so we expected it to be a quiet place . We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the unit! The private outdoor area was fantastic for our pups. We found everything to be clean & the kitchen to hv the things we needed. Pool area was very nice especially on Monday after most people checked out. We stayed a extra day-
The view of the mountains, palms & flowers was

Owners or managers were very confrontational and rude.
Not the place to come if you want to socialize past 9pm or not walk egg shells.

They need to be clear what type of clientele they expect, otherwise too risky if you like to let loose in PS...

And responding to managers response which is utterly untrue. I or anyone in our group did not vandalize anything on the premise. If that would have been the case the managers would have pressed charged with the police. As expected from other reviews the management responded with falsities. I would have been content with given my honest review but had

A Place in the Sun under new management since February of 2021 should change its name to A Place that is no Fun. You will notice that the new ownership loves to criticize and attack their guests whom post negative reviews as being reckless, rude, unruly, and even endangering their children. Take that as a WARNING, plus they will video tape you, who knows what for but they are creepers and did video tape our group extensively.

I will start by saying our group rented the ENTIRE property for a 50th B-day party that was originally booked with the prior owner, Norma, but we had to cancel due to COVID

It was such a traumatic horrific experience. Please read the Yelp reviews prior to booking your stay. The new ownership, apparently Austrian royalty intimidate, harass, and “banish” guests on a regular basis. It is not dog friendly like it claims, and they allow zero fun, music, and are hostile toward guests from the moment they set foot in the facility. Not to mention they film, provoke, and call the police on their guests on a regular basis. They have no business operating any kind of establishment requiring customer service. The positive reviews rambling on about the premise and staff are

Don't say you didn't know!!! Read the details in the 1-star recent reviews. All true. This place was purchase by Max Zu (aka Max Schaumburg) in February. He and his Crazy mother manage it. Total nightmare. Note: I just read the managers reply, which states that the police were called twice. What he didn't mention is that WE called the police on the management for harassment. No joke.

We stumbled on A Place in the Sun when looking for a last minute getaway. When you first pull up, you wonder what's beyond the entry gate and upon entering the code and walking to the office, we were greeted by the nicest gentleman with a Scandinavian accent. The bungalows surround the pool and most units have their own backyard. Think 50's 60's retro desert glam. The setting is lovely and peaceful. If you're not looking to stay at the Ace or Parker and seeking peace and tranquillity away from the crowds, this is your spot. Tony was warm and welcoming! Thank you for your

I have stayed here on several occasions and loved the place for its garden, pool and cleanliness. The casitas are outdated but immaculate. This last stay was different. I found out the property changed ownership and it has all gone down hill. The innkeepers where rude and confrontational. They have put new rules which make sense but none of the rules are posted nor were they given to us. The lady overseeing the property told us the rules, made up new rules, stalked us, yelled at us and made our stay miserable. I will never go back there.

Outstanding Experience
My nephew and I ( along w my 2 mini Aussies) had a brief 1 night stay to break up our lengthy road trip. “A Place in the Sun” was wonderful and exceeded expectations I only regret we did not have longer time at the property to enjoy the amenities The room was incredibly clean, the staff was super friendly, and the grounds were meticulous. In the evening, the fragrance of the flowers was perfect I loved sitting in our private outdoor space while my pups relaxed in the thick green grass Everything was on point, extremely comfortable, and the pillow menu was a nice touch

The pool is perfectly fresh but nice enough to swim at night. They provide pool toys. Pool open late as long as your next t to loud.
