The Connection
The Connection's culture reflects the diversity and values of the participants we serve. For our 5,000 members who range from six months of age to over 95 years, it doesn't matter what their economic, racial, occupational, and cultural background is - The Connection belongs to them. It is their community.

We are proud to be a home away from home for all our members. Long before our official incorporation in 1922 as the YWCA of Summit, the spirit of The Connection began in the early 1900's as a movement of caring and perceptive women who worked for collective changes to improve individual lives, families, and society as a whole.
Services
We have compiled a list of books recommended by anti-racism organizations and educators. We have also included a list of black-owned bookstores that ship domestically that you can support. White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo. Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla F. Saad.
Author, Leslie Carrasquillo, brings hope, strength and meaning through her colorful poetry, using powerful symbolism and narrative to share her experience in coping with metastatic breast cancer. Pathways and the Overlook Foundation understand the importance of offering fitness programs to women with cancer in our community.
We want to hear from you! We all have our favorite memories involving The Connection - from learning to swim to trying a new class to volunteering at Winterfest. Tell us what makes The Connection a special place for you, and we may feature your story on our website.

I am so grateful for The Connection After School Program because it allows my son to have a fun and safe environment to do his homework, play and experience great activities while I'm at work.
Take Parkway North to exit 142. There is a toll booth immediately before exit 142. You must go through the toll gates on the EXTREME RIGHT in order to get on the exit ramp on the other side. The ramp entrance is directly in front of the toll gates on the other side. You are now on Route 78 EAST, going in the opposite direction.
We are happy to reopen our doors to the Summit community. With safety as our highest priority, we've been welcoming back members. Annual membership dues are required to participate in all programs unless otherwise noted. Household dues include up to two (2) adults and all children who live at the same residence.

Kathy is the rudest front desk I have ever encountered, which ruined our otherwise great experience at the connection.
My son has been coming to the swimming class at this facility since Sep, 2021. Today I took a 30mins walk with him in the stroller from our house and arrived 30mins before our class started. Because I miscalculated the weather therefore under-dressed him, as soon as we arrived, he started shivering and crying saying that he's too cold, in a panic, I took him inside the building and asked Kathy if we could stay until my son warmed up, we promised to wear our masks and stay out

We have a very bad experience with them, my son used to swim very well but after moving from California everything changed for him. At the first session of swimming lesson he started crying instead of understanding him the teachers pushed him back to the little kids class after second session I was told please don't bring him. The teachers are not well behaved and understanding. I do not recommend this place.

The Connection after school care program during pandemic is 5 stars and higher !!! Our daughter is safely bussed from school daily. Staff makes sure children are logged on in time for remote learning. Staff is very friendly and engaging when remote learning is over. Our daughter never wants to be picked up. Staff keeps the facility very clean and very safe for the children.

The pool schedule they have online is completely different than what it actually is, so I’ll come to swim and not be able to which is very frustrating. They did apologize for this but after almost yelling at me and demanding to see my membership card, claiming I didn’t have one... which I did.. I did not like how they demanded for my card during the middle of my workout either, trying to get my quick swim in since the pool was being used for kids swim when I called and was told it was open for lap swim. YMCA Is better

For a international student like me, this was the perfect place to learn English. Definitely devoted volunteers were the best thing you can experience in this country. If you want to learn English here, go and look for "Jane." She will surely be already willing to do "something" for you. I can say this was the best part of my staying in the US. I love everything here including my teacher Jean, Bob, Razelle and my friends.

This is a great family institution providing both gym and training, swimming pools, after school programs, and support for families in Summit and beyond.
