5 Elements Martial Arts and Wellness Center is a family owned business that focuses on building a community of people that care about others. Our Kung Fu school is also known as 5 Elements San Diego. We teach Chinese martial arts not only as a self-defense tool, but also as a way to balance one's physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Our youth program teaches Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. This is a traditional style of Chinese martial arts that emphasizes long-range techniques, quick advances and retreats, wide stances, kicking and leaping techniques, whirling circular blocks, quickness, and agility. It also develops balance, leg strength, self-control, and a strong understanding of body mechanics.
Kung Fu and self-defense training for students in grades K through 5 provided by 5 Elements Martial Arts & Wellness Center. This top-quality after school martial arts program is fun, safe, and structured to teach valuable self-defense skills while improving physical fitness and respect for others. Learning self-defense gives confidence to students so that they can make good choices in life and stay out of trouble.
One way to further one's own martial arts training is to learn how to teach. Our Assistant Instructor Program teaches advanced students how to assist younger and less experienced ones in their training. They are taught how to run group warm-ups, give corrections, and lead small groups in learning forms and kick combinations.
We are unique in two ways. First, we don't just concentrate on the martial arts development. Our instructors focus on developing the student as a whole person - body, mind, and spirit. It is our goal that each student not only learns how to defend themselves but also learns important life lessons. Second, we strive to be clear and upfront about our policies & pricing.

I’m so thankful the stars aligned and I stumbled upon this place. My son did taekwondo when he was younger and it really helped shape the incredible human he is today. At 15 I felt it would be life changing for him to get reacquainted with martial arts for body, mind, and soul. We’ve been coming for a few months now and I couldn’t be more pleased. Sifu Mario is a great teacher; very thorough and patient! In a world full of madness this has been an amazing place for my son to move his body and grow as a young man. So grateful! 🙏🏻

Heads up: I do not recommend ever paying for large packages. This place is not willing to be flexible, if situations arise. Our first attempt to leave this place was after being in an uncomfortable situation with Sifu's family. (For details, feel free to message me, I am more than willing to explain everything.) He insisted that we stay. My husband kept asking, "are you really going to make us stay longer knowing that we are unhappy there?" Many of my friends, that know the family as well, told us to just give up and take the loss. Unfortunately, we are in a bad financial situation and decided

I have 2 kids age 7 (girl) & 9 (boy) who are currently at 5 Elements Martial Arts & Wellness Center. They have been with the school for over 3 yrs. The instructors and staff are GREAT! They have taught my children to be strong competitors, performers, & teaches them to be Strong, and to be Brave, Wise, and Kind to one another.

Sadly after 6 months or so of having my three kids in this Kung fu program, I cannot say I would recommend this place to anyone, and to make matters worse if you pay a year in advance like we did they do not return your money for the unused portion of what you pay for. According to the owner, his reasoning is that he has a small business and therefore cannot afford to return money for classes paid in advance. Now as business owner I understand this to a certain point, due to having employees and overhead. The problem with that argument is that when you pay in advance it translates to unearned income

My 2 boys have been training Kung Fu here for 2 years and my wife for 1 year. This studio has made my boys stronger and more confident. It has made my wife more confident and more secure in herself. Something every woman needs. Sifu and the instructors he picks are knowledgeable and really pay attention to what each child needs. They push them with a positive energy that kids respond well to and thrive on. We tried another studio first but this is a family studio that really cares about each person individually.

I recently tried a yoga class at 5 Elements and really enjoyed it. The class was small so I got lot's of help from the instructor. My yoga experience is limited and I was concerned that the class would be too hard, but the instructor did a great job at giving me alternative poses while the more experienced students did things that I clearly wasn't ready for. I will definitely do more yoga classes there again.
