These people wouldn’t accept cash and wanted my credit card. They took a $50 deposit that was supposed to be returned in a timely manner. Instead it’s been nearly two weeks and still no money has been returned to my card. I called them twice about this and they just continue to lie. They told me to call my bank which I did only to find they have refused to answer my banks request for my deposit back. So I have to wait until the 24th of December now for the bank to return my money. Won’t stay at a place that try’s stealing your deposit again. Beware of giving them your card!

Absolutely terrible Wi-fi.
Breakfast is tiny yogurt , instant oatmeal and all the cereals your kid wont eat. Carpet is extremely old and stained. The only good thing is the price. It has potential but as of now it is not living up to them

This hotel is a travesty. No bathtub, no overhead lights, two pathetic lamps are the only lighting. Our beds are like lying on straw, crunchy, noisy, and awful. Location is fine but that's the least of our worries. These rooms are more like one found in a pay by the hour motel in downtown Hollywood. Hardly worth even half the price we are being forced to pay, and it's nonrefundable, as well. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. Would never stay here again, even if it meant sleeping in my car.

No lodging in Santa Barbara is cheap but the Sandpiper is reasonable by Santa Barbara standards. Comfortable beds rooms that are clean and well taken care of my only real complaint would be parking spaces that are too small for most standard sized vehicles and a lack of water pressure in the shower given Santa Barbara soft water makes it hard to rinse off.
Good location with excellent dining options nearby

It is always hard to rate motels. This is a motel. It is well maintained. The pool, jacuzzi, and gym were clean. We paid about $350 per night which is about $150-$200 more than it should be. They advertised a continental breakfast which was a bust. They had some individual cereal and yogurt packages and a juice dispenser. The upside is that there are about a dozen good restaurants within a short walk. I ate at SB Sunshine Cafe and Via Maestros 42 - both were great and reasonably priced. I guess my only complaint about the Sandpiper Lodge is the price.

Overall stay was pretty okay. The place definitely needs some good remodeling though. The windows/doors are quite thin, so you could hear almost everything including the guys literally talking so loud at 2:00 am in the morning. The mattresses aren’t the most comfortable either. I wish they had more breakfast options and the coffee was better too. The pool was nice, however it was only 5 feet deep. The housekeepers were very sweet too and so was the person at the front desk. Also, air conditioning was very loud, and the room was musty when entered but clean.
