Speaking two or more languages has obvious practical benefits in an increasingly globalized world. In recent years, however, research has shown that being bilingual helps us develop in other important ways. It has a profound effect on the improving cognitive skills not related to language, stimulating creativity, and even shielding against dementia in old age.

Our mission at CommuniKids is to prepare young children to become the global citizens of tomorrow by creating a joyful, playful, and nurturing environment that immerses students in a second language. Our program strives to instill the disposition, knowledge, and skills required to succeed in a highly interconnected world.
Two parents who understood that the "window of opportunity" for language learning was open! Back in 2003, CommuniKids language immersion school got its start thanks to these three things. Founders Jeannine Piacenza and Ral Echevarra, along with a few other like-minded families founded Caterpillar Cooperative Preschool, a small program that met three times a week.
Are you concerned about how to pay for a high quality early childhood education for your child? We can help!. These subsidy programs provide eligible families a tuition subsidy to help pay for the annual cost of early childhood education for your child. How does it work? Families apply directly to the subsidy or fee assistance programs, and if they are eligible, DC, VA, or CCAA pay a portion of CommuniKids' tuition.
As part of the District's Office of the State Superintendent of Education's (OSSE) Pre-K Enhancement and Expansion Funding Program, CommuniKids Preschool is now offering FREE Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 spots to eligible children at four DC locations: Tenleytown Center, UDC-Van Ness, Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church, and Cathedral Commons.

I wish I could leave a good review but after having two kids at Communikids and having to pull them out for different reasons, I can't really leave any good review.
I guess one advantage is Prek free tuition programs (Communikids obviously get funded by DC so that they aggressively try to fill the space), but the aftercare and lunch programs are much higher than DCPS, and the toddler program is as high as private school which makes no sense. I would be careful before enrolling the toddler program since as another mom indicated, there is a big deposit and they will never return it back to

My older child attended summer camp at communikids and this motivated me to enroll my younger child. They have their fingers on the pulse of the latest in early child pedagogy (appropriate, challenging, varied activities/ games/ toys) on top of being incredibly kind/ affectionate/ caring. My children have always wanted to come to communikids in the morning. Communication is also fabulous; weekly videos and newsletters, teachers willing to chat with little notice, etc. I have seen my children thrive in this caring but challenging environment. They also don't have the turnover of staff I've seen

We enrolled our son Gabriel in the preK 4 program in the fall of 2020. We were nervous but excited to be back in school in person. Our son's experience has been wonderful, from the communication of the teachers and staff, to the fun, nurturing environment Communikids provided. In our parent teacher conferences it was clear that his teachers cared about Gabriel as well as his success as a student. In the midst of such a challenging year, Communikids was such a wonderful gem.

Our son has been at Communikids for 2 years now and we are so thankful that we found this school. The teachers and administrators are incredibly caring, which is so evident from my son's caring, thoughtful attitude. He has a ton of fun every day and his milestone development has increased by leaps and bounds. I will miss everyone when he graduates to kindergarten- and so will he! I can't recommend it enough.
Also a plus-- Communikids works with after school programs like soccer and jujitsu.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with the teachers, administrators, and program at CommuniKids, and our son has been having a wonderful experience there. He's really taken to the language immersion program, and the teachers have been wonderful partners throughout the year on language skills, toilet training, social development, and pre-reading skills.
I've been especially impressed with how well CommuniKids blends the play-based curriculum with results-oriented learning and developmental progress. I've also appreciated the program's NAEYC accreditation and the staff's focus on current scholarship

We had a wonderful experience at Communikids and were incredibly lucky to get a public PK3 spot. Our son learned a LOT of Spanish, had warm and caring teachers, and enjoyed school. Both he and we wished there was a better facility with windows and more play space. I hope those things can be improved in the future, but the curriculum and teachers and admin were first-rate.

We have had our child enrolled Communikids since the day he turned 2.5 (as per the enrollment requirements) otherwise he would have been there sooner! We were so thrilled of how his transition from an at home caregiver to a school environment was so easy and smooth due to the amazing staff and environment at Communikids DC! The teachers are kind, patient and very skilled at how to teach young children. They communicate with parents on a regular basis and are always available by email or in person. We receive weekly schedules for what students will be learning about which allows us to ask questions

Our son attended Communikids Wash, DC location last year for PK3. We were thrilled with the administration, staff and teachers. This was our son's first school experience and we could not have asked for a better experience for him! His teachers were welcoming, understanding, patient and caring. He LOVED going to school and especially his teachers!! We were in awe with how quickly he picked up comprehending and speaking Spanish (he had never been exposed to the language prior). In addition to learning a second language, he left PK3 with the necessary academic and social skills he will need for PK4

We absolutely LOVED having our daughter at CommuniKids. The teachers are amazing. They are dedicated and smart. Our daughter loved going to class everyday and she learned great Spanish. The teachers and administration work hard to make sure parents are informed and involved. I can't recommend CommuniKids highly enough.

It has been a fantastic experience for our son at Abejas 2 (pre-K 3) this year. The staff are excellent and the proof is in the pudding: the kids are so happy and excited at the start of class every morning. A big thank you to the teachers (Maestras Carolina and Brenda) as well as all other staff who are true family. Muchas gracias!
