Ken Melton is the owner and inspector of Ken Melton Home Inspections. He has been in the professional home inspection business since 1993. Before pursuing a career as a home inspector, Ken had a successful career of 17 years in test and evaluation of nuclear submarines.
Ken was involved in all phases of submarine acoustics from rotating machinery condition analysis, sound silencing, and the installation and test of advanced sonar systems for the United States Navy.Ken believes that his test and evaluation experience and attention to detail, was helpful in his transition into his new career.

The General Home Inspection we offer adheres to the Standards of Practice from ASHI, InterNACHI, and the state of Virginia. During this thorough and non-invasive inspection, we check the following areas of the home for damage and defect. All areas must be visible and safely accessible to our inspector.

Ken was great! He was very accommodating for the time of the inspection and then was very thorough during the inspection. It’s too bad that we don’t need more done by Ken or we would schedule again as soon as possible. We WILL be recommending him to everyone we know in the area.

Ken preformed a home inspection on a house I’m purchasing. Very professional and extremely detailed. Ken has set the bar for home inspectors. His review and report were very thorough, descriptive of what he found, both the good and any concerns he had. Ken did a fantastic and thorough job on our home inspection. He left no stone unturned, and provided a detailed report with countless pictures and descriptions of his observations and recommendations. Not only was he professional and thorough, but he was also very personable and easy to talk to throughout the process.

Ken and his son were wonderful to work with for our recent home inspection. They spent a considerable amount of time combing through the home and taking detailed photos. Once they were done, Ken walked us through everything and I mean everything! His attention to detail made us feel so much better about the home and more prepared to work on an agreement with the seller. The software he uses is also a plus! We had a detailed report with photos and descriptions within a day that was password protected and shareable. There was also a function to create a negotiation list directly from the report and

Ken did a fantastic job and was incredibly thorough with my home inspection. He noticed very crucial things about the house that were very key in the decision making process. He even noticed termite damage that the termite inspectors didn't which was really mind blowing. I'd 100% recommend Ken as a home inspector.

Ken is an honest professional when it comes to his inspections. Our family loved that way him and his son took their time and explained in great detail everything they inspected in our new home. Not to mention Ken saved us a nightmare the first house we put in an offer for that we eventually backed out because of his honest inspection of the house.
