First of all, I really like the Hotel Granduca. I have had nice experiences there. Because of this, I took a very esteemed date there to eat. Sigh. The atmosphere remains great. The service was good. The food, I ordered a $79.00 ribeye....was well below average...below average even for a steak night steak at a local drinking establishment. It tasted old, was not well prepared and a not hot. I was surprised and disappointed. Yes, I expected more, both due to my usual positive feeling towards this hotel...and the price.

OMG! My advice, don't stay here . Dirty in general ( furniture, carpets , bedding, and the gym! No words to describe the gym..) service is really, but really bad !
On the pictures ( that were taken in the past century) it looks great. But time has passed and did not stand still! The place is so run down it's sad.
Not even mentioning the bugs in the parking lot and on my balcony ....nasty!
Leading Hotels of the World..? Really!?

Came here for afternoon tea with a friend on a Thursday at 2 pm.
The vintage style of the hotel was a nice touch, but overall, I didn't enjoy the ambiance of the hotel. The food we received during afternoon tea did not taste fresh at all, and this was the case for all of the food served - including both savory and sweet items.
If I had to choose the best portion of afternoon tea, it was the tea, with lots of options available and very flavorful. The servers were also extremely nice and polite.

Horrible tea service today! I saw the server offer a higher end tea product to a table then offer my daughter and I lower quality tea with a horrible selection! I asked for the better tea and got an attitude. Food was just ok. I wan never offered a refill on my champagne when several tables were offered! Very rude. I'll try St.Regis next time

If you're thinking of afternoon tea here, forget about it. They will advise you to make a reservation, but it won't matter because you will call and make the reservation and will be assured you have a reservation, but upon arrival you'll find they don't have your reservation. They pre plan afternoon tea, so they cannot accommodate without a reservation. To smooth over the situation, the manager offered to comp a bottle of wine, but when we got the check he had a bout of amnesia and said he had offered no such thing. To add to it all, the service was also not representative of

I wanted to give this hotel 5 stars and the staff was truly wonderful, however there were a few things that made me pause to do so. The very first being the cleanliness of space. We upgraded to a suite and there were many inconsistencies as far as sheets, dust, silverware dirty ect. As mentioned loved loved the staff but there were limitations on luxury and lead to my choosing a 4 star review.

This is a real gem! Chef Maurizio Ferrarrese has got the place to dine, excellent food, superb service and live music! The menu is so very delectable
and the desserts are just the right size. We felt like we were in Italy again! Please keep up the great work. We will definitely be back and we have told 50 friends, so far. Bravo Chef!

Never ever ever have I seen this before. They chain the doors at night and you are not allowed to come and go freely! I took photos out of disbelief. I was trying to leave the hotel at roughly 11 PM and found the main front doors CHAIN LOCKED! And no one around to let us out. I couldn't believe it. Finally a half sleep valet came and unlocked the padlocked doors. See the photos. How unbelievably tacky. For this type of money, I wouldn't expect Motel 6 level security.

Probably my favorite hotel in Houston! This is a hidden gem in Uptown Galleria of Houston and I'm very happy to have discovered it.
The pool area is very cozy and the cabanas are free on first come, first served basis. They have a great selection of drinks and food. We ended up getting the meat platter and pizza. It filled us up quite nicely.
The staff went beyond my expectations to accommodate us. We stayed in one of the larger suites with a full kitchen. They provided us with all the cooking pans and pots. They also went out of their way to find me some butter for my meal at a late hour

Discrimination. I called before I came to see if the patio was open for dining. I was given a strong yes and when I inquired about a reservation I was told , first come first served. Nothing about hotel guests only. I arrive, same day. And not only was baker no where to be found so I had to find a random spot. No one opened the doors(which are heavy). I stopped at the desk to ask where the pool was ans that I was looking to dine on the patio. The woman literally looked me up and down, and said it's only for guests. I explain to her that I called and was told differently. She AGAIN looked me

I stayed here when I was in town for business meetings. The hotel grounds are beautiful and decorated to resemble an Italian villa. My room appeared recently renovated with newer carpet and bathroom. The room itself felt more like a master bedroom or B & B than a hotel. I would call my room and the amenities luxurious.
The checkin process was smooth and friendly. The young woman behind the counter thanked me for coming again which was odd since I'd not been there before (more on that later). It took me a bit to figure out the elevator situation since I'd not set foot on the property

I stayed at this hotel about a month ago for a work visit to Houston. I don't think it fully set in for me at that time as to how uniquely superb of an establishment this dim lit, art covered and culturally enriched hotel really was because I was caught up in the hustle and bustle of work-travel.
As the old saying goes, "You don't know what you have until it's gone"... This is especially true in this sense because I am sitting at a table in the art-covered dining room writing this review while being serenaded by a skilled jazz pianist accompanied by an amazing vocalist

Great place to celebrate a special occasion! The hotel is richly appointed with artwork and decor that transfers you to northern Italy. Being a boutique hotel, you'd think the rooms were moderately sized but this is not the case, the suites are huge and most importantly clean with very comfortable beds.
The staff is well trained, friendly and very accommodating - we felt very much at home...can't wait to return!!

Brought my family in for the tea and purchased two rooms for about $200 each, total about $450 with tax. Tea was about $120. One of the two is in smoking hall. None of us smoke. Room is smoke filled and smells horrible. Opened all windows and will risk bayou mosquitos rather than not be able to breathe. Hotels still allow smoking? Even a smoker wouldn't accept this smell.
My reservation was for non-smoking. Front desk management was dismissive and said four rooms in hotel are smoking. "Sorry that's all we have, you can wait til late night as we are shampooing carpet in another

I was looking for a staycation at a five star hotel and decided on Hotel Granduca for a weekend stay. A lot of people don't know about this hidden gem as it's kind of hidden from the street. I had no idea myself that it's located right across the street from Uptown Park. Once you enter the premises, it's valet only and pretty pricy at that. I'm always anti-valet but what can you do.
The lobby area has plenty of seating where you can hang out, a bar with a piano, and the breakfast area. I did a little work in the bar area and it was comfortable. The bar area overlooks

This place is seriously lovely! The people here are helpful, but I wished the food tasted better. Other than that the swimming pool has these awesome huge cabanas to chill in and the location here is great. Valet service is quick and efficient barely a wait time at all. Nice place for a small wedding or a reception!

Setup: tea time bridal shower
The good: private room, service by the staff, small bites were pretty good, scones were delicious, nice teas
The bad: valet is $15 and cannot be validated if you are at a private event (if you dine in the restaurant then they will validate).
Observations: Everyone on staff was very friendly. Getting to the private room was a little confusing because you have to pass all kinds of things along the way (business center, weight room, elevators, etc.), making you feel like you're going the wrong direction.

It's a free country and all, but I don't understand how smoking is still allowed in hotel rooms. The third floor at the Granduca... Stinks. When I arrived (after midnight on a business trip - yay!) I noticed that the windows in the hallway were open. Oh, and the hallway itself smelled off. Walk into the room and there are ash trays on the table. Awesome. It was very retro. The room smelled but at least there was a porch door to open for some air. It helped a tiny bit.
I've stayed here before and loved the hotel. But, something just in principle about this irks me.

My mom and I had a horrible afternoon tea experience here. It was probably the worst afternoon tea experience I've ever had and for the price we paid, I expected a lot better. The ambiance was fine, but it was all downhill from there.
First of all, it was not crowded at all. There was a party of about 6-8, and maybe another of 4 and then my mom and I. The other parties were seated at one end of the dining room and my mom and I were seated at another. There was only one server. So she had to walk all the way across the dining room to come to us. Being that the other parties were at the other
