Booked this hotel on a last minute trip to Houston. Wasn't expecting much except a clean place to stay - when I say we got more! This hotel was GREAT! Not only was the historical architect beautiful but the rooms were clean, comfortable and roomy. The bedding had quality linens and mattresses that led to a very comfortable nights sleep. The bathrooms were extremely clean, as was the entire hotel. The pool are was small but pleasant with the neon lights setting the mood at night. My only issue was their bar closed at 10pm on a Saturday night - wish it was open later as the ambiance was great

The Whitehall is a classic lady! She was built in 1964 and her dignity has been timelessly elegantly maintained. Loving thoughtful appointments to update her while leaving her strong bones alone. Think floor to ceiling unavailable today oak panels in the lobby. Heavy fluted brush steel moldings, so think George Jetson, at the elevators. One would not think to leave our the two story sweeping spiraling staircase with true oak and brass appointments. Lit wall fountain trickling beside the two stories. Get to the top and sit in sumptuous Texan leather chairs or stroll down the art gallery wall.

Decided to stay here for Mother's Day, great decision. The room is so spacious and very clean. Comfiest bed and pillows I've ever slept in. Booked the executive room which gives you the higher floor options with a better view. I had a great view of the downtown city skyline. The room had a walk in glass door shower, all black, felt very sexy. The pool area had plenty of seating options, chairs, loungers and shaded outdoor sectionals. The lobby and walkway on the 2nd floor to the pool, all beautiful. Valet was reasonable priced and very fast and kind service. The men were very helpful

Decent stay however for the high price/reputation, I expected more.
ROOM: Clean and comfortable. The bedding was really comfortable. I had a major problem with the heat though. It wasn't working at all. The vent was blowing cold air only and when I set it to 80, the thermostat remained at below 70. I tried everything and finally got tired of shivering. I called the front desk and someone came up to take a look. He told me the vent was closed and an "engineer" had to come open it. Unfortunately, the engineer was not on site. I get that Covid has screwed with hotel accommodations

Two words. John Flores. He is the reason I am giving this place 5 stars. We planned a quick work weekend and randomly chose The Whitehall bc of its super convenient location right off the interstate. Everything was closed (obviously because of covid) and the rooms were nice but the friendly face at the front desk made our stay worth these 5 stars! Great job John Flores! Y'all better keep him around! We will be back!

Hotel staff went out of their way to try to accommodate my disappointment with the room. The next morning they offered to show me an alternate room, which I went to see. Although it was only marginally larger than the room I was in and did not include the chair, ottoman and sitting table that was originally advertised in an executive double, I appreciated the effort in trying to accommodate our need for a bit more space. In the end, we didn't end up taking it since the room wasn't too much larger than what we were in and we didn't want to pack everything up just for a couple more

Meh.
I came with my 14 year old son as pre-Christmas vacation. The best part of our stay was the friendly guy at the front desk. Check in was a breeze and the man at the front desk was truly a pleasure.
We get off the elevator to go to our room and see someone's room service cast offs left in the hall. Ok! Maybe they will pick it up soon. We get to our room and the bathroom has just a shower. I'm a serious bath taker and when doing research for the executive room I'd booked, had seen pics of a bathroom with a tub. But ok - I won't let that ruin a nice stay.

Loved it. The entire staff was so friendly even though they saw me coming and going with different friends. I stayed just one night for a concert at the Toyota center. Let's get the party started, party all night, be a responsible drinker, and stay near by kind of night.
I got ready for the concert here, loved the view, the bed, the mirror, the lighting. Perfect! Crashed like the drunk girl who didn't get taken home.
They have a pool! I see it everyday and how I wish I had went for a dip. Part and parcel is my favorite near by bar. It's all outdoors and especially delightful

Super convenient access to 1600 Smith, but small bathrooms.
The bathrooms aren't the smallest I've ever seen in a room, but the door almost hits the toilet when you open it. The bathtub seems a bit narrow as well. There is a glass door but if I raise my arms a bit my elbows graze both sides,
The sink is in the corner with a small vanity.
There was some minor paint peeling and an odd tissue in a hole in the roof or the bathroom
The floor is a nice wood or wood laminate, but I would have liked some slippers.

I usually start with the good but I'd really be stretching it to say anything was good about our stay here. The service staff was quite nice and housekeeping was very quick to bring up a few items we needed and the barista at the coffee shop was kind. Our room was clean.
We booked with hotel tonight so I dont know if that's why we got the room we got but we barely slept a wink between the highway noises and the elevator noises. This was the loudest hotel we have ever patronized. We even wore ear plugs.
The elevators were being repaired so only one was functioning, wait times were minutes

Never heard of this hotel before my stay. I stayed here for a weekend for work and enjoyed it very much. The rooms are clean, the pool area is nice and inviting. They offer decent dining experiences, valet ($15), and a small functional business center which I actually ended up using for once. Needs a stapler! Ha.
The catered breakfast was just right and I want some more right now.
I stayed in a double queen with a coworker and the only annoying part during our entire stay, our keys didn't work simultaneously. If mine was working, hers wasn't (and vice versa). It was such a pain having

Of course, I am not a rich man to stay here.LOL.I live in Houston.I have a small room to sleep. But I was an interpreter of a Japanese group at Houston Foto fest.I worked at WhiteFall for 4 days.
The location is good. The valet was $10.I found $5 parking two blocks away.I really liked a Japanese-karesansui-style small garden. It made me feel zen-moment.The staff were helpful and attentive.. There were small cubes in order to work, although I used here in order to take nap.LOL.There was a small coffee stand in the morning. It gave me a great coffee.
The foto fest was successful. It was well organized

I remember 10+ years ago when this hotel was a Crowne Plaza. The second floor has a nice coffee stand and restaurant, and connects directly to KBR Tower. The Whitehall is a new modern upgrade with sleek lighting outdoors and updated rooms. The theme is Souther Charm I suppose. I normally stay at the Hyatt in Louisiana St. for business in Houston, but would certainly consider staying here again.
Pros:
* Large rooms with comfy beds
* Excellent work desk with plenty of power outlets
* Great service - free bottled waters and even cookies on the first night.
* Decent shower pressure with liquid

I booked the Whitehall Houston through Hotwire and was pleased by the photos after I found out where I was staying, what was even a bigger relief was seeing the photos and reality were pretty much the same.
The lobby is huge with this massive spiral staircase which takes you to one of the few restaurants in the hotel. The hotel staff was extremely friendly any time I came in contact with them. There is a pool and a gym. My room key didn't work so I never saw the gym, but I know it's there.
Pros:
- the rooms are huge.
- the shower has great pressure
- comfortable beds and pillows
- free
