Open Arms Preschool
Welcome to Open Arms Preschool: Where your child can play, explore, and create! We believe that play is a child's vehicle for learning. Each child is an individual growing at his own rate of readiness and ability. Developing self-esteem, learning to communicate, to share and to socialize within one's own peer group are our basic goals.

We are conveniently located in East Midtown near the Manhattan neighborhoods of Gramercy Park, Union Square, Peter Cooper Village, Stuyvesant Town, Kips Bay, and Murray Hill. My husband and I decided to check out Open Arms because we lived in the neighborhood and read very positive reviews. After meeting Misa, the teachers and visiting the school, our decision was made.

OAPS is a school founded on the philosophy that play is a child's vehicle for learning. We view learning as a natural and ongoing process, occurring as we interact with our environment, and we view each child as an individual who develops and discovers in their own ways. Building meaningful relationships between teacher and child, and among other children, is central to the work we do.
This 3-hour class allows children to exercise their independence while exploring, playing and creating. Children will participate in a variety of activities that will increase their language, social, physical and emotional skills. These skills will be promoted through imaginative play, music, art, science, gym, story time and group snack.
This 1 hour class allows children and their parents or caregivers to enjoy the preschool experience together. Kind, loving teachers guide children through activities such as music, art, gym, movement, imaginative play, story time and group snack. The goal is to support children as they gain self-confidence and independence in a safe, stimulating environment while developing the skills needed for preschool.
Come join us for some summer fun! Ages 2 to 4 years old. Children will enjoy exploring different themes and have tons of fun in our air-conditioned indoor play room. Summer playgroup is a mommy and me class. Children 14 months to 2 1/2 years old are invited to come with an adult and have fun singing, reading, playing in our air conditioned gym, and socializing.
We cannot express enough how much gratitude we have for Open Arms, its' amazing staff and wonderful teachers. Our eldest daughter started attending Open Arms when she was 2 and now, 3+ years later our second daughter has also joined this wonderful community. Both my girls had extreme separation anxiety but through lots of love and hand holding they started getting very excited to go to school everyday - sans tears.

We loved open arms and their social distancing was good, great play space and structured activities like puzzles and things that help children's minds grow.

Our son and we loved the school. Initially we did not really know what he was doing there since he did not share much information at home. But he was always very happy to go to school and with time we became really impressed about things he was learning there. The staff is very caring and dedicated.

OAPS is as good as it gets! OAPS is a dream and has exceeded our very high expectations for early childhood education for our daughter. From the caring, dedicated teachers who were so patient and gentle during those first few weeks of separation to the responsiveness of Misa the director who keeps parents up to date on school happenings/events and has never taken more than a few hours to respond to my emails. It is a brand new/completely renovated, clean and organized environment that is so welcoming as soon as you enter those red doors. As far as the quality of education, my daughter is continually

Open Arms is a remarkable gem of a preschool! Small class size and low student/teacher ratio, loving & deeply invested teachers, brand new classrooms, and a community of friendly parents. Miss Misa is a warm, nurturing, and highly educated teacher with both elementary and special education degrees, which is a rare find. Our son LOVES this school, and we love the fun, gentle play-based learning environment where our son's social skills and language have blossomed. Compared to the other larger, louder, not-nearly-as-personal (and more costly!) preschools we looked at in the Gramercy
