Patients often come to counseling on their own initiative. Many referrals for counseling are also made by physicians, schools, ministers, family members, friends and other mental health providers. Counseling Associates is a collegial group of qualified private mental health practitioners as licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I have over 25 years of experience counseling adults, adolescents and children. Currently I work almost exclusively with adults and am the Director of our practice. My style is interactive and I work collaboratively with patients to understand patterns in their lives to help them not only evolve strategies, but to strengthen their skills for making change.
Each therapist maintains his or her own schedule. In order to set an appointment, you should contact the provider directly at our main telephone number: 703-330-5155. Every patient is assessed on an individual basis. Initially patients generally will meet with their therapist on a weekly basis. In order to provide therapeutic consistency and to allow patients to best plan their own schedules, most appointments are set in a "home slot."
In order that a patient receives counseling from a counselor with expertise in a specific area, we have found it best to call our office for scheduling an appointment. If you see a therapist who you believe meets your specific needs, certainly feel free to call him/her specifically. Your telephone call is very important to us and our phone is answered live by a person 24 hours per day. For non-emergencies our staff will return your call during normal business hours Monday-Friday. If you are not currently a patient and this is a life-threatening emergency, please hang up and dial 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room.
