Super cool way to do nabe hotpot! We did the 10 course meal and wish we knew about the premium course that involved lobster. When making a reservation, the lady didn't mention anything about the option of doing the premium course and needing to let the chefs know in advance. Hence, the four stars. I thought it was super cool how this place did the course like fine dining or omakase for hot pot. The quality of meats were superb and I love how they make their own everything like their salts. The different homemade salts were lemon salt, garlic salt, and kombu. They were all so tasty on the meats

Japanese hotpot with oxtail broth. We had premium set course, which includes lobster and crab. The service was great. It was right amount of food. The food was paced properly. This staff were very friendly. We would definitely come back again.

We made a same day Opentable booking for my birthday and were surprised (but happy) to get a reservation before we left Hawaii. Only to arrive to an unlocked door with a completely empty restaurant with a ladder and toolbox on the floor.
When we called the phone number, of course it started ringing right in front of us with no one answering it and ironically the voice message said that they were open today. After 5 minutes the repairman walked up the stairs and just said, "Oh I guess they're closed."
Totally understand this may have been an honest mistake but left us stranded with no alternative

Everything was so tasty. From appetizer to vegetables to the meat and dessert. The servers were all super friendly. Price was very reasonable and we walked away with a very happy stomach.

Food was overpriced and overhyped. Staff was friendly and helpful.
After the soup got cooked for a while it condensed into a salty radish broth and then you end up with a salty radish flavored porridge after they give you the semi cooked rice to put into your Nabe. I don’t think anyone with a basic understanding of porridge would come up with a disaster like that.
Most other food was mediocre at the best. The beef tongue and some appetizers were OK. But you can find much better food at this price. Or the food quality has regressed if all other nice reviews were true.

Ichifuji is my new favorite local nabe spot. It's definitely not an everyday spot though, but I do look forward to taking my parents so they can try it sometime.

You have the option of choosing from one of their courses (or ala carte, but just do the course because it's simpler). First there's the premium course, which is the most expensive (requested that you reserve this course ahead of time). From there the price drops quite a bit, to the 10 course meal. When we went a few months ago, there was also a 9 course meal, but upon checking their website, it looks like that was removed

Loved our experience dining here. Made a reservation a couple weeks in advance. Server very attentive and knowledgeable. Very friendly and had great recommendations. We got the 10-course meal.

Every part of the course was great! Loved their chawanmushi (egg custard with mushroom, seaweed, mochi) -- that was exquisite. Their ox tail broth was also so flavorful (we kept drinking from the pot because it was so good). They have a porridge at the end that is prepared with the remaining broth and some additional items (rice, barley, grated yam, egg). For dessert, we had their panna cotta with blueberry

Me and my boyfriend came here on our last night and we absolutely loved it. First of all the service was excellent, every time a new dish came out the server would take her time explaining what sauce to use and how long to cook the items for. They even had a container for me to put my bag in so I didn't have to place it on the ground!! Big plus for me because I never know what to do with my bag.
We got the 10 course meal. Every course was delicious and we will definitely be back when we visit again!!

Agreed with the people who say that you come here for the experience just as much as the food! We got the 9-course meal. Everything is served beautifully, as each vessel and cooking device is very thoughtfully presented. We also loved the different salts and ability to customize the saltiness to our liking. My favorite course was the kurobuta pork. Keep in mind dinner will take prob 2 hours because of the number of courses.

The negatives:
This meal packs a LOT of sodium (even if you're using your own salts sparingly) because the broth has a lot of salt. One more thing is that I wish is

We got the 9 course meal.
First of all you're not paying for the food here necessarily but for the experience. The food is definitely not worth the price but the experience of trying different sauces & homemade salts with a variety of beef tongue & fish in an oxtail broth was a very lovely experience.
The service is absolutely amazing and all the servers there are so sweet!
And you WILL get full! So i would recommend anyone to go experience this very authentic Japanese dining experience

I originally posted this review on Opentable and decided to repost here just because I missed this experience so much:
Ichifuji was the perfect place to get a hot, hearty, and above all, delicious meal for New Year’s Eve. Everything was excellent, from the broth to the Wagyu rolls, and then to the snapper sashimi, which was transported directly from Tokyo. The service was excellent, Japanese hospitality from both the server and the chef: they take the time and care to help you learn how to best enjoy their meal.
We ordered 1 9-course combo for two people and then added tons of meat. This way

Very delicious. Make sure to try the soup as it is before adding any meat.
The 10 course meal is just way too much, I was full after 4/5 courses and the last 2 were soba and congee which is very filling. I saw the table next to us also packed these 2 courses to go.

This is a new shabu shabu restaurant with a very unique dining experience! They were supposed to open in March 2020, but had to close due to the pandemic, now they are open again with all the safety precautions in place. You should definitely call ahead to make reservations so that you can get a seat.

It is a 1 mile walk from the Hilton Hawaiian Village. You'll find a doorway that takes you upstairs to the second floor. Once inside, you're greeted with friendly waitresses wearing kimonos.

We decided to get the ten course meal, every part was delicious! It started with an appetizer

It's Valentine's Day 2021.

Premium course menu in the shoot.

The night started with the Appetizer. When the brought the plate they recommended what seasoned salts will work best. The Abalone and shrimp was perfectly cooked.

Then it all started. They followed the menu to the T. They waited for you to finish each plate. You were served at the speed in which you ate. Again, with every dish they recommended what seasoned salt that works best with each plate. Each plate had its unique technique on how it was presented and prepared. Everything was prepared right in front of you.

AMAZING nabe!! Think upscale shabu, but cozy and warm and altogether great.

My bf and I went with the ten course and every course was solid, so I'd high recommend 10-course for a first-time diner.

We called in night-of to make a reservation on a Saturday. They only had counter space available, which was completely fine. There are plexi-glass separators at the counter so it felt pretty safe. We were also spread out well. The place was very lively and felt like a good time while still enforcing covid rules.

Some notable favorites were the beef tongue and the porridge, but again, the entire

Ichiriki opened a few months ago right above tori ton on king street. They offer upscale japanese hotpot (nabe), featuring beef tongue and seafood from japan.

The weather has been cold and rainy, so we decided to make a reservation at ichifuji and try something different aka fancy.

I liked the ambiance. Walking up the stairs felt like traveling to japan. It's pretty awesome considering I can't actually go to japan. The waitresses wear kimonos and the interior is nicely decorated. I also like all the pretty ceramic dishes and attention to detail.

The 10-course meal was $55 per person

Came here during their soft opening. We did not have a reservation. Greeter promptly seated us at the bar. Staff was professional and the food was on point. My wife and I each ordered the 10-Course Meal. The flavor and quality of the food is top notch. We will go back as many times as we can.
I humored the chef and said “I never cared for Nabe until eating here”. That’s how great my experience was. Chef then said “Glad we could bring you to the dark side”. We had a good laugh.
Tips: Do make a reservation and be patient finding parking. There are several restaurants sharing the same
