Eugene School Of Karate
The Eugene School of Karate is one of Oregon's most innovative and successful karate institutions. We combine ancient martial arts disciplines with modern teaching methods to develop mindful, disciplined, and motivated students with an indomitable spirit! Sensei Albert has been studying karate since he was a young child.

He's taught karate almost as long, first alongside his instructors, and starting in 1992, at his own studio in Eugene, Oregon. A career educator, Sensei combines the best of modern teaching methods and traditional martial arts instruction to promote both your child's physical and mental growth. Sensei Albert is available to present to groups about his self-defense and life skills programs.
Services
After teaching for his karate instructor, Morris Mack, for ten years, and earning his 5th Degree Black Belt; and simultaneously attaining a Master's Degree in Teaching Physical Education & Health, Eugene School of Karate founder Albert Roy recognized in 1992 the community's need for a martial arts school that focused on critical life skills such as respect, courage, discipline, focus, responsibility, and compassion.
The Eugene School of Karate exists to strengthen the character of our community by building a professional organization of committed members who train together for the progressive development of their skill and character in a safe and enjoyable manner. Our passionate and highly trained instructors teach exciting and motivational classes that keep members coming back for more.
The Eugene School of Karate was started in the fall of 1992 by Albert Roy. He trained and taught for his instructor Morris Mack, in Yakima, Washington, for many years before moving to the Eugene-Springfield area to continue his post-graduate work. Albert has a master's degree in teaching methodologies, a B.A. in school health education, and a B.S. in physical education.
The ages of 3 to 4 are an incredible learning time for children. They begin to form ideas about themselves, others and the world around them. ESK's Tiger Tot program is designed for our youngest students ages 3 to 4. This is a delightful pre-karate class held once a week for 30 minutes. Children can't wait to get to class and have fun!
Eugene School of Karate has been the perfect Karate experience for my 7 year old son. He has never been interested in the typical American kids' team sports like soccer, baseball, you know- the typical time wasters. My son has totally gone crazy for everything Karate and I thank Sensei Albert for fostering his interest, as Sensei Albert also has a Master's in Education and is very good with beginners and children.

We enrolled our 3 year old in the Tiger Tots program with Sensei Roy and we were beyond impressed. Our preschooler benefited greatly from the classes and we noticed a difference almost immediately in her behavior at school and at home. She learned discipline, respect, patience, and responsibility. She had trouble listening at times, following directions and sitting still until she started her classes. Now she is like a different child and we are so proud of her. We know much of this is because of her karate classes and the lessons/skills she learned. Albert is extremely patient, kind, and wonderful

I take kickboxing at the Eugene School of Karate 2-3 times a week (depending on how lazy I am). I love the class and love how uncrowded it is, but I'd like to spread the wealth.

Albert, the instructor, is great at offering technique instruction to make sure you're kicking and punching to the best of your ability. Seeing the 300-lb. bag move across the floor is so fulfilling as stress relief, you have no idea.

It's only $50 per month with 3 classes a week, so about $5 a class. I appreciate that because I don't feel horrible missing a class or two if I'm tired. Plus
