Services
Established in 1998, Mars Hill Animal Hospital has been providing exceptional veterinary care to cats and dogs in Bogart and the surrounding communities for over 20 years. To ensure our patients receive only the best care possible, we work diligently to maintain our status as an AAHA-accredited animal hospital.
At Mars Hill Animal Hospital we pride ourselves on providing Athens premier animal medical facility that delivers the best care with the latest medical and surgical technology. Diagnostic imaging allows our veterinarians to look at your pet internally for clues about sickness or injury. Dental care is an essential part of your pet's overall health to prevent dental disease and tooth loss.
Let Mars Hill Animal Hospital provide a professional veterinary exam for your kitten, puppy, cat, or dog. A physical exam is the smartest and easiest way to keep your pet healthy. Wellness exams allow our veterinarians to detect problems and diseases that might go undiscovered otherwise, including heart murmurs, tumors, enlarged organs, cataracts, ear infections, ear mites, dental disease, skin issues and allergies.
At Mars Hill Animal Hospital, our goal is keeping your pet happy and healthy. Thanks to modern diagnostics and our on-site laboratory, we're able to do just that for sick and injured pets. Diagnostic imaging allows us to examine your pet's internal organs and body systems to better diagnose their conditions.
Dental care is an essential part of your pet's overall health. When oral hygiene is neglected, pets can develop dental disease which negatively affects other systems in the body and may lead to tooth loss. A pet's dental health is just as important as their physical health, however, it often goes overlooked.

This is a nice facility with average service and is close by. However, the prices are double what we normally pay. For example, a $17 vaccination costs $34 at this clinic. An office visit at Mars Hill is $65, when we usually pay $30. In addition, the staff is trained to work at selling more services so their efforts to capture revenue resulted in us paying out a lot more than the same work at another traditional vet. That is just too much for routine vet care.

My cat got sick on a Thursday. I called first thing in the morning and they let me drop him off right then. He was there all day and they kept me updated by phone. We still didn't know what was going on with him, but he got better after some medication. They called Friday morning to check on him. Dr. Wellman called Friday evening after she was done with work to make sure he was ok. She arranged for me to get medication for the weekend and sent me all of his records by email in case we ended up at the emergency vet. Luckily, he continued to be back to normal. I feel they really cared about my cat

Dr. Gross has looked after my animals (cats) for YEARS and has done a fantastic job. The ladies in the office could not be nicer and always ready
to answer questions and help. This is a fantastic Vet Clinic and you will be totally pleased using them.

After several visits since fall of last year when my fiancé and I moved to Athens, we have decided to never take our cat anywhere else. They know River well and have gone above and beyond to accommodate strange schedules and the pandemic.
Our first major experience was when River got into something she shouldn't have (curiosity is seriously dangerous haha). We called around and we had nearly given up since it seemed no vets or animal hospitals were open or taking new patients short notice due to Covid. A friend of ours called Mars Hill for us since that is where she takes her dog. They called

We had taken out older dog there and all was OK. I recently purchased a Belgian Malinois that has one testicle that has yet to descend. Most likely it will have to be removed surgically. I spoke to them and I was told he would only do it if he takes both testicles. This is extremely bad for a dog, especially one that is capable of killing a person. All dogs can become fearful after the lost of testosterone. I served in the US Army Special Forces and have extensive experience with this breed. We found years ago that the dogs if injured and lost their testicles, they would no longer work and

Too expensive! Brought my dog in because she had been vomiting over 24 hours. They asked me if they could take her back to run some test and it would be 190 dollars. An hour later, they came out and said tests were normal and gave her shot for nausea and my bill was 500 dollars! A little misleading!

We treat our two dogs as family, and would do anything for them. Dr. Gross obviously feels the same way--he treats them like he would a human patient. He explains every procedure completely, and considers every available option. We'd never go anyplace else. And as for the cost--what price can you put on your best friend's care? This place is worth every penny. And the entire staff deserves the same compliment.
