Boulevard Animal Hospital, is dedicated to preventative and illness vet care for our cats and dogs. Our Athens Vets understand that you, the owner, are an integral part of their pet's care and we are committed to giving our clients the education, training, and support they need to make informed decisions in caring for their pets.
Dr. Jennifer Howard was born in Ajax Ontario, a rural town near Toronto, in Canada. In 1995, she graduated from Bishops University in Lennoxville Quebec, and in 2003 she graduated from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. As a child, her devotion to animals developed through the love of her family pets, and she often tried to sneak stray dogs into the house for love and TLC without her parents noticing!
Wellness exams are an important part of keeping our pets healthy and happy. During this time, veterinarians and owners have an opportunity to discuss any observed changes in the animals health, body condition and behaviors that may have arisen since the last exam. This discussion helps our veterinarians understand new challenges that the patient may be facing.
Understanding the vaccine requirements of individual animals takes time and experience. Vaccines must be given in a very specific way in order to be effective in protecting our animals from disease, often at differing times in an animals life. We follow the American Veterinary Medical Association's guidelines for vaccinating dogs and cats at various life stages.
Despite our best efforts, sometimes pets get sick! That is when we schedule a problem visit for your pet. Illness can happen due to a variety of causes. Some of the most common reasons for a problem visit include allergies or skin problems, ear infections, dental problems (often first noticed as bad breath by the owner!), injuries, infections, or recent changes in behavior or body condition.

It came time to say goodbye to my sweet senior cat, and during the pandemic, I was looking for someplace where I could be with him in his final moments. By that point Boulevard Animal Hospital was actually not allowing owners inside the building during most appointments, but allowed me to be with him to say goodbye. Not only that, but all the staff I encountered were so caring and kind, and helped me feel reassured about the decision I had to make for my boy. It may seem strange to leave a glowing review about a heartbreaking day, but that is what an impact the hospital staff made-- they helped

Two stray kittens landed in my boyfriend and I's lap. We took them to Boulevard Animal Hospital, because they were the only vet that could take the kittens in ASAP. They have become the biggest blessing in our lives. One of the kittens, unfortunately, did not make it and the entire staff mailed us a card with words of encouragement on it. The other kitten, Athena, recently turned 3 months old. Boulevard Animal Hospital has become a second home to our sweet Athena and they are just as crazy about her as we are. I highly recommend this animal hospital.

I made the switch to Boulevard from another veterinary hospital in town about a year ago when my dog had an allergic reaction to her internal spay stitches. Boulevard went above and beyond with pain management, and she healed quickly and comfortably. Since then, I've been consistently impressed with how knowledgeable the staff are. They are friendly and answer all of my questions; it is clear that they are following new scientific publications. They have been excellent about fitting us in for appointments and the prices are comparable to most clinics. I highly recommend Boulevard.
