Services
Our vet hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. Our surgical suite provides for the performance of many soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.
Dr. Bangle grew up in Atlanta, GA and attended Chamblee High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. He finished with a Political Science degree. He worked in the business world for 4 years before returning to school to pursue his career in veterinary medicine.

If you suspect your pet is ill or has a medical concern, we encourage you to have the doctor's at Oconee Veterinary Hospital check your pet out instead of waiting it out to see if it will get better. Waiting can cost your pet valuable time to diagnose and potentially correct whatever medical issue it is experiencing.
Exotic pets require special needs both at home and at the veterinary hospital. Oconee Veterinary Hospital cares for patients running the gambit from "pocket pets" to reptiles. We are equipped to offer treatment for a variety of exotics' conditions, and can offer advice on proper conditions for their home environment.
If you are heading out of town or just need a place for your pet to stay for day, we can take care of that! We have separate dog and cat boarding facilities. Cats stay in an individual cage and dogs have the option of indoor cages or our large, indoor/outdoor climate controlled runs. All dogs are able to reserve an indoor/outdoor run, but only smaller dogs are allowed to stay in the inside cages.

I have been taking my dogs to Oconee Vet Hospital for several years and have been so happy with everyone there. The vets, techs, and staff are incredibly kind and helpful. They never try to nickel and dime you or send you home with unnecessary supplements or medications.
The staff provided incredible care to my 18 year old dog in the last years of his life. He did hydrotherapy and laser therapy regularly and I know that they helped him (and us humans) be as comfortable as possible until his time. I could not recommend this vet more.

They go above and beyond. They are kind and caring, extremely knowledgeable, and responsive. Lora is an absolute treasure, and fantastic at her job. The techs get to know your pet, so boarding is more comfortable, and the doctors are top-notch. We’ve been taking our pets there for 25 years, and highly recommend.

I brought my pet rat alfredo in as he was suffering with a massive tumor. I brought him here after another vet told me it was inoperable. Unfortunately my baby crossed the rainbow bridge last night, but the doctor was so responsive and as helpful as he could be. They got a surgery scheduled and made sure to answer any and all of my questions. they genuinely do care about every animal they meet here and i am so grateful for this!

Our dear elderly cat needed attention and he is terrified of people other than my wife and I. They were very kind, and got us in as quickly as possible and they did a wonderful job in handling him. He calmed down immediately once I got him home, in the past he would have sulked under the bed for hours, so they were great with him. He is doing better and hopefully will be with us for a while longer yet.

We found Dr. Bangle and Dr. Stortz when we moved back to Athens just over a year ago. I'm so impressed with the doctors and the staff here and the services are definitely affordable. Maggie is a lab/pit mix and loves the vet but hates getting her nails trimmed. Well, her first visit with Dr. Bangle started with the vet techs clipping her nails. I… was worried - Maggie hates this. But I quickly realized these techs were super skilled - it was like a well rehearsed dance with 3 of the sweetest, strongest vet techs....and it was amazing. Well, since my family says I HAVE to go to the vet, I wouldn't pick any other place besides Oconee Veterinary Hospital. When we arrive I LOVE to sniff the bushes - they are full of good information about my furry friends. I like the way that Dr. Bangle and Dr. Stortz greet me with a smile and a give me a good petting each visit - they always know… right where to scratch behind my ears! I get a little nervous at first once I'm back in the exam room, and I don't really like that metal exam table, but I forget about all that once one of my doctors starts talking to me. They distract me so well

I've been taking my fur babies here for many years and I can't say enough good things about the staff!!! Yesterday my Cleo had to be put to sleep, Dr. Bangle , Danny ,Lara was just great!!! Cleo was 15 yrs old… so they have been seeing him for 15 years!!! I held my baby in my arms til he crossed over the rainbow bridge , Dr.Bangle& Danny was awesome !!! We love Oconee Veterinary Hospital! I am always left feeling confident in the treatment Millie received! I love how they don't speak down to us. They give the book knowledge, but also the "if it were my dog" perspective. It really helps when making tough decisions on behalf of your furbaby. Plus, it is one of Millie's FAVORITE places to go!!

On a coworkers recommendation we took our dog here as an emergency patient. Right from the moment we walked in Laura was so friendly and considerate. She kept us in the loop on what the visit would cost so we weren't surprised at the end. Dr.Stortz constantly updated us on the condition of our dog and what our options were moving forward. Both my boyfriend and myself were very emotional throughout our dog's visit and the staff was so understanding and sympathetic. I would recommend this office to anyone.
