Let me begin this review by saying my relationship with Sherry and her associates at The Goldsmith began when I walked into the store on a business trip to Chicago. Since then, maybe 15 years ago, I have worked with Sherry on numerous jewelry design projects, and I've also made it my business to go to the shop whenever I'm in Chicago to buy the occasional out-of-the-case piece that I simply can't live without! Working with an out-of-state customer to design must be challenging for her at times--the drawings, the back and forth faxes/emails, the tweaking and ultimately the producing. But all this

Sherry did an absolutely amazing job with my wedding ring. The bands did not fit together quite right, and she raised the setting of my diamond so that my engagement ring and wedding bands looked more cohesive. When she was finished, I felt like I had a brand new ring! It is absolutely beautiful and I cannot stop staring at it. Skip jewelers row and go to the Goldsmith - I could not recommend Sherry and her team more highly!

I am happy to report that The Goldsmith did an excellent repair on the broken necklace that I dropped off. Initially I had some trepidation since I wasn't given an ETA as to when it would be ready. Fortunately, I got the call that the repairs had been completed and I was able to pick it up on a Saturday after having dropped it off the previous Monday. Since the weather was straight out of a horror film on Saturday, I opted to pick it up on Sunday (with open hours from noon-6 pm, this was no trouble). I am happy with the result and will be extra careful with this delicate necklace so that it

My Engagement ring came from the Goldsmith 26 years ago and it is stunning to this day! I wanted something unique and different and this is what they do! Recently we celebrated our 25th year anniversary on our 26th year! and Sherry made me the most beautiful emerald band that fits inside my engagement ring. To say it is stunning wouldn't be enough! My birthday is in May and I always wanted and emerald eternity band. The emeralds are clear beautiful and the most vibrant green. Sherry is amazing and we will be working with her for years! This store and owner are a treasure!

Goldsmith is a Chicago treasure. I have collaborated with sherry on a few custom items. she takes my ideas and elevates them beyond what I imagined with her experience and expertise. she wants every piece to be the most beautiful and perfect possible, no matter the time and patience required. for my children, she happily worked within a budget. goldsmith is everything I could dream in a jeweler and sherry is just a lovely person.

My disappointment started a week after dropping my ring off for resizing and engraving. A courtesy call would have been nice to explain they were backed up and would need a few more days.
Second, the finish wasn't clearly marked so I did my best to explain it over the phone when asked. On pick up the finish was different than originally asked, and they kindly offered to fix it on the spot.
But the second time, even after explaining it in person, was incorrectly finished. Awkward that I brought up the incorrect finish which they then confirmed wasn't as they explained it to the polisher

Loved every experience I have had at The Goldsmith. Each time you're there they treat you like family, and the owner Sherrie cares to sit down with you and take the time to talk to you about any piece you are looking to create or make changes to. My mother had a pendant that was in a floral shape made up of diamonds that she didn't wear anymore. Knowing this is something I wouldn't wear either, we took it to Sherrie. She worked with us to create a ring that I now wear every day. She melted down the gold, removed the diamonds, and created a really unique ring that I wear every day

I first met Sherry Bender in 1990, after seeing her work on a friend's finger. I asked her to redesign my engagement ring and twenty-five years later, I still wear, enjoy, and love the ring she made as much as I did when I first slipped it on my finger. It was a collaboration of her talent, great taste, sense of style, and listening to my & my husband's input. Soon after my first purchase, we moved to Houston and I never looked for a local jeweler in the twenty years we lived there. I stopped by to see Sherry whenever we were in Chicago or worked long distance with her on four

When I'm looking for a special gift for my special someone, something that is unique that you won't see on anyone else, I know who to call.......The Goldsmith LTD. Designing is a very important element, along with quality work, excellent customer service, and the ability to purchase something that will be enjoyed for many years to come with a "pop of WOW factor".
The Goldsmith's designs have it all and worth taking the time to take a look.

I have been shopping with Sherry and The Goldsmith Ltd. for years. The pieces that she has made for me have been exceptional. Sherry, the owner and designer, not only has a real talent for design, but she has a very collaborative approach. She takes the time to sit with you and really listen to what you are trying to achieve. She will make suggestions but doesn't try and override what you want. The jewelers are great and have been able to fix a number of pieces that I have broken; the repairs have been so good you can't even tell where the issue was! Without a doubt whenever anyone

For the short version:
I had a horrible experience, this place basically botched up a family heirloom and I now have to find somewhere else to fix it because I'm never going here again.
For the long version:
My engagement ring was a family piece from my husband's great-grandmother. It's precious to us for sentimental reasons.
Shortly after getting engaged, we went to have the ring appraised and were told that we should have the band thickened because of age and wear. Besides the band the ring was in perfect condition and all the settings were very secure. The appraiser mentioned

"A woman without jewelry is like a night without stars"-- a saying so aptly displayed at The Goldsmith. While I want to insert an extravagant "Pretty Woman" moment, I unfortunately was not there for any jewelry purchases. I always feel like the hunchback whenever I'm scurrying around in the 900 building. So many beautiful, fashionable folks at every corner! But when my Swiss Army watch died, I decided to forego butter knife craftiness and walked over. Forked over the $20 for a battery replacement. It took them twenty minutes. In the meantime, I gawked at their assortments

Bellissimo! Amazing! Superb! For over 25 years, I've gone to the Goldsmith and Sherry for everything from simple repairs on costume jewelry to designing a one-of-a kind engagement ring and everything in between. I literally get stopped in elevators, restaurants--even on the street by women saying, "OMG, that's so beautiful--where did you get it?" Of course, the "it" is a piece of jewelry Sherry designed--she IS

Wow. So I go to have my watch battery replaced during lunch. They give it back to me 20 minutes later and tell me the stem is broken, which is weird, because it was working that morning. They say they can fix it. I ask them to please let me know if there's going to be a charge before they go ahead with any repairs. They say they will. You know where this is going.
When I go to pick it up the next day, they tell me it's $15 for the repair. I asked the girl if she remembered me asking to approve all charges and she said she thought that was only for "big charges." First, it

I can't say enough nice things about Sherry and her team at the Goldsmith. When my grandmother passed away in 2003, I received her engagement ring. When I got married in 2010, I brought it to Sherry to have it restored. She re-engraved one part that had deteriorated and also reinforced the band. However, about 18 months later, the original face of the ring bent back and broke. I brought it back to Sherry, who recreated it to look exactly the same, only stronger. This ring is more about intricate engraving than bling -- in fact, the stone is barely noticeable -- but the care that Sherry
