Storybook Schoolhouse is a locally owned family business that has been apart of the Chico community for over 50 years. From a humble beginning with a one room Schoolhouse, Owner Deni Vinsonhaler has watched her businesses blossom into a successful environment for children to learn and grow. Located on E. 3rd Ave, Storybook Schoolhouse is in perfect location for walking field trips to the local library, as well as informational walks to the park.
Our philosophy at Storybook Schoolhouse is based on the concept that every child is different and unique to themselves. Our goal is to help each child recognize how truly wonderful they are. We believe in positive reinforcement, thus encouraging both successful and confident children. Verbal praise is a viable tool that is always available and is used continuously at our school.
Here at Storybook Schoolhouse we offer four separate programs to fit the needs of several different age groups. All of our staff members are trained to a particular age group to ensure that your children are receiving the proper stimulation and attention for their age. A brief description of each program is listed below, however we welcome drop-ins as well as appointments for any parent who would like to observe one of our classrooms.
Our infant program is offered year-round and is the perfect place for all babies 3 months - 2 years of age. Because we believe that infants need a substantial amount of exclusive attention, we only offer 8 full-time enrollment spots, along with several part time spots. We are always accepting applications and have an active waitlist once all spots are filled.
Storybook is proud to offer a year-round two-year old program! Within this program your child will learn basic cognitive and social skills while enjoying a fun filled curriculum full of color and texture. We believe that learning must come with fun in order to keep the children interested.
Storybook Schoolhouse encourages the staff members to enjoy the activities just as much as the children that way we maintain a fun and productive atmosphere for your children to feel comfortable to ask questions and learn through observation.The preschool is licensed for 65 children with a state regulated ratio of one teacher for every 12 children.

I have been taking my kids to storybook daycare for a year, I have had nothing but problems when it comes to their staffing and communication, they are completely understaffed and do not communicate in a timely matter. They also fired a teacher for bad behavior which included yelling at kids and fighting in front of other kids with staff, they have hired her back! not professional at all and now they are under investigation, and on the 19th I get a letter that they are terminating my sons care due to bad behavior and aggressive behavior but I have not once been notified or have not received incident

I live across the street. I called and called and left many messages with Sonja, Christine and Dana. They never check their answering voicemail and don't EVER return phone call messages. I went by there in person multiple times and Dana told us it's her day off and brushed us off. I wouldn't recommend storybook schoolhouse. My neighbor told me that she also called leaving voicemail messages and they also never called her back either.

Our family loves storybook! Every day our kids are genuinely excited to go to school and I am genuinely excited to see their amazing staff of teachers. My spouse and I sometimes argue about how picks up the kids from school because we love seeing our little ones in their element interacting with their friends, and we love to hear about their days from their teachers. There are some days when our preschooler is happy to see us, but doesn't want to go home yet because they are having so much fun! It is clear that the teachers truly care about the kids & babies and it shows on their happy

My three children have been attending since August, so 9 months. At first seemed great but since they replaced the primary school-age teacher, about 6 weeks ago, my kids started giving me bad feedback. For example, the teachers are yelling at the children, choose favorites, odd choices of discipline, ect.
I found a different provider and gave storybook 2 weeks notices. One week later I was told my children could not come back the following day. This was today, a Tuesday when they only have 2 days left of school. They were supposed to provide after school care Weds and Thurs and all day care Friday
