Witter Coins

Don't waste time selling to them. They said they could help with collection and wanted to pick through. Drove over an hour after extensive phone conversation about items I wanted to sell as a lot. They said they could help. I have email confirming and then nothing.

Came here with a good amount of various silver US coins and some old US paper money. I am very new to all of this stuff and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable. I 10/10 would recommend this awesome establishment! They even have their very own, private, gated parking lot right off Lombard St. Very safe and incredibly fair pricing.

The folks here are friendly and professional. At no time did I feel like I was being taken advantage of. Individual coins were discussed and explained. Their small parking lot helps too. I stopped in to Witter Coins on the corner of Pierce and Lombard because my wife had found some old jewelry in her nightstand and wanted to see if the items would be worth anything. When I entered the store I got the immediate sense that this was very professional operation. There was an armed guard at the door allowing access to the inside area. The fixtures and displays were well-lit and organized. The walls were covered with various vintage black and white photos of old San Francisco. The word that best describes this place is CLASSY. My dad left us a huge coin collection, except it was mixed with all kinds of different coins and I honestly was so overwhelmed trying to sort through it all that I didn't touch it for months/years. But I had to move and had no choice so I brought it to Witter Coins new shop on Lombard.

First off, what an upgrade from their old location on market! It looks very organized now and they follow COVID-19 protocols so I felt safe.

This is my 3rd visit to Witter coins, every time I've been here it's a pleasant experience, the store is well organized, if you don't see what you want James will try to find you what you want , Luis took care of me this time, he is well informed, I came in looking for a upgrade & left fully satisfied with my trade & purchases ,I'm quite new to this & Luis was extremely patient with me,he didn't try to sell something over my budget,I never felt rushed or pressured, I got exactly what I wanted & left with out any buyers remorse,I can't ask for anything

The staff is so nice, so helpful. They handled my grandfather's coin collection that was left to me with care. Have me information on the collection and assured me they'd go to a good home. Highly recommend.

I swung by earlier today to take a look at a coin I saw for sale on eBay. It was my first time in, and it was pretty incredible. The selection is *amazing* across the board -- from more common selections to super (and I mean super) rare. Anyone interested in coins, regardless of budget, will find something here.

The location is very nice. Free parking in their parking lot (big plus), spacious show room, and the displays are very well organized. Further, James (who helped me with my questions) was incredibly friendly and helpful.

I called around to the few shops around and most did not want to give me too much time on the phone to explain what they buy or listen to me. But I emailed this company, they quickly called me and I came in 15 minutes later with box of random coins that my dad had collected/horded over the years. Luis was extremely friendly and informative during the entire 45 minutes he was looking through the stuff. I was very pleasantly surprised to be able to have a good conversation while he was still focused on going through all the different kinds of coins. Love the staff at Witter Coins they wear masks and gloves when interacting with them they are fair in prices in fact just left them glad they are open come to there new business on Lombard street

5 stars for the friendly and fast service. I'm just starting out on my gold collection and Witter has extensive coin knowledge and answered all my questions. The security guard is nice too, great work!

Don't waste your time with this place. A total joke when it comes to gold and silver. Their strategy is getting you to come in,
Knowing you have to put your time and money into that and then they low ball you. Your time will be lost playing games with them. Oh and they don't pay cash.



Update: the owner replies to my yelp review and said I called and harrasssed his employee,
I called and asked for a quote on 24kt gold and spot good value. They denied , said I would have to go in person, I asked if that was a sales tactic because I'm 30 min away and don't want to commit that

First time here at Witter, and let's just say all the kind reviews are all on point!

I honestly don't even know where to start for my review.

The building is super nice and historical. The shop is VERY well organized, like beyond organized!

The shop keeper Sean was just so inviting, nice, and knowledgeable. Our 15 month old daughter is a very good judge of character for a youngster, and she took to Sean fairly quick. Sean was smiling and making her laugh while her daddy was going to town on their vast selection of coins.

My husband was able to get 4 or 5 coins that he wanted
