Services
Dr. Yu has over 30+ years of experience as a practicing dentist. He graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry and served as a faculty member there for seven years. He and his wife Lisa, daughter and son relocated to sunny Santa Maria in 1996. After spending several years in dental research at Den-Mat Corp. he decided to open his own office to best provide affordable, gentle dental care to the Santa Maria community.
We understand that going to the dentist can be a stressful experience. That is why our office is committed to providing first-rate care for your oral health with as much of a "gentle" touch as we can. Dr. Yu has always tried to be as minimally invasive as possible, and only utilizes the most appropriate, safe, and effective dental solutions.
Dentures are made from a hard plasticine material that is directly seated over the gums. Overtime, little by little, it will become more and more ill-fitting as the contours of the gums naturally change with age while the denture itself remains rigid. Our office can now modify your current dentures with a "cushiony" lining of specially designed soft silicone.
Oral cancer is a scary but very important topic. Oral cancer in fact is one of the 10 most common types of cancer, and furthermore, has shown no improvement in survival rate over the past several decades! Despite advances in surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, the average five-year survival rate for oral cancer has been and still is only around 50%.
If you have uncomfortably or even painfully tolerated sensitivity to cold foods/drinks, sweets, fruit, brushing, or even just breathing in the cold air, we can help. And we can even perform follow-up treatments if you're suffering from sensitive teeth due to recent gum treatments or cleanings. Sensitivity is caused by open microscopic tubules in the dentine layer, and getting a complete seal has long been a challenging task.

Dr. Yu and staff have made the dental experience much more enjoyable than what I had grown up with. Not only is Dr. Jerry Yu friendly and his staff very courteous, but he always gives honest advice. I highly recommend Dr. Yu and trust him to do a great job on not only my teeth but my wife and children's teeth as well.
