Leonardo Xavier is a Rickson Gracie fifth degree black belt with over 20 years of experience teaching Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. He is the only jiu-jitsu professor in the Houston area certified to teach by the original and most traditional jiu-jitsu school in the world, the Academia Gracie de Jiu-Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Gracie Humaita Academy) and by the legendary Master Rickson Gracie.
Recognized as a world-class authority of the art and one of its most charismatic professors, few people can match his deep technical knowledge and his passion for teaching. His mission is to continue the legacy of his instructors by preserving and sharing the principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu with the community as a complete self-defense system that can benefit anyone regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

True jiu-jitsu is not a "sport". Although there are many opportunities for sports-minded individuals to explore that side of the art, this was not the vision of Grand Master Helio Gracie. The essence of jiu-jitsu as conceived by the Grand Master was rooted entirely in self-defense, period.
This unique system offers a person the ability to defend themself against an attacker, regardless of size or strength, by using the key principles of timing, technique, and leverage. We strive to continue this time-honored method of training, emphasizing the core concepts and principles to promote an overall understanding of the art as opposed to simply showing the most popular move on YouTube.

LX Jiu-Jitsu has one goal in mind, to offer a dedicated facility aimed at providing access to world-class self-defense instruction. In order to achieve this, it is imperative that we provide a superior training environment free from ego, attitude, and intimidation.
As such, the facility has been designed to create a warm, inviting environment for both participating students as well as spectators to feel completely at ease while they enjoy their class. For regularly scheduled and/or semi-private lessons we have our large training mat which offers a 2000 square foot training area; a secondary training mat is located next to the changing rooms and is reserved for one-on-one training and introductory lessons.

The word dojo has many translations, such as exercise hall, practice hall or place of learning "the Way", which is a reference to the more philosophical side of martial arts. Please keep in mind that although Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is 100% Brazilian, it has many close ties to Japanese arts as these are what inspired Grand Master Helio to reinvent and adapt the techniques so that the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu could be practiced by anyone.
LX Jiu-Jitsu is a proud ambassador for Master Rickson Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation. To better serve the interest of the members of the Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation (JJGF), a code of ethics has been adopted. The code of ethics is a guideline for members to apply in respect to their participation in the art of Jiu-Jitsu.
The LX Jiu-Jitsu Affiliate Program is designed to provide guidance and mentorship to practitioners that have the desire and moral character to become an instructor/professor of jiu-jitsu and for their school to be designated as an LX Affiliate Member School.
With the growth and popularity of the art, it is common to find schools operated by non-qualified practitioners that have started to teach solely because they have achieved the rank of black belt. However, it is important to understand that being a black belt competitor/practitioner does not automatically make the person a qualified teacher.

My son is 5 years old, we had experienced 4 months, this is what I remembered. My son decided to take a break, and as a mom I said okay. Even I explained the guy who is working with Mr Leonardo Xavier, he told me thats okay, put me on hold. But they charged me twice for one month. When I sent two email to XAVIER, he did not care it. I visited course many times with my little baby, and talked with different peoplw what happened. Let me tell you what happened! NOTHING!!! As a customer this is what I deserved, refund is not a problem but they discriminate customers unfortunately. Dont do same mistake

Unfortunately I had a bad experience this place. When my 5 years old son did want to continue for class, I explained guys and they told me that’s okay. They did not tell me “two months ago I should give them notice.” They told me I can cancel any time just sent an email about cancellation membership. I did but they charged me extra months that my son did not join the class. I really disappointed because five times I visited with my baby the course they told me they were going to refund me but they did not. They just care about money, not customer service. I never go back again. Be careful

I guess all I can offer is that not every school is for suited for every type of personality. Personally I have trained here 5-6 days/wk for the last 2 yrs. and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The school is very nice, well maintained, and the instruction is absolutely top notch. That being said it is a very traditional school that strictly adheres to the teachings and philosophy of Grand Master Helio Gracie. Being that Professor Xavier was fortunate enough to have such a close connection to the Gracie’s, I will say that he has uncompromisingly high standards but as someone who has studied martial

I have enjoyed Professor Leo's classes and this gym for over a year now. His attention to detail is amazing and I have learned so much, as well as enjoyed the camaraderie with the fellow students. My class is after a kids class and I see how great he is with the kids. I can tell he truly believes in the benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has a mission to teach self defense. I recently learned of someone close to me who had been dealing with violent physical abuse by her boyfriend and Professor Leonardo cleared his calendar to spend time with her and giving her a taste of what BJJ can offer as

LXBJJ is a great place for both beginners and experts alike. The classes are helpful, practical, and easily implemented into every day life. I do not know of a more professional, technical, accomplished teacher in the area. I am very thankful to be able to train at such a great school full of talented yet incredibly friendly people who are so willing to help one another improve.

My son and I train at LX Jiu-Jitsu and it's the best place to learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu & self-defense in Sugar Land and Houston! It is also one of the Only legitimate BJJ schools in Houston and sugar Land. All of the students are welcoming and helpful, and want to make sure you are safe and learning! It is also a very safe and clean enviornment too! I highly reccomend Leo and LX Jiu-Jitsu to all of my friends and family!
