We stopped by today to get some ideas of things to do around Golden that would keep our boys engaged. We met Marsha and Ron and they were just a wealth of knowledge. They suggested places, trails, and restaurants in the area. They even gave us something called "Golden Tickets" that if scratched off at participating restaurants will give a discount. They also gave us helpful maps of Colorado, the different trails, and downtown Golden.
They were the perfect, hospitable spokespeople for Golden!

A trip to Denver isn't complete without a side trip to Golden, CO, a quintessential old western town. And a trip to Golden is not complete without a stop in the Golden Visitors Center. The ladies working in the visitors center really seem to love their jobs and their town. They're always a great source of information on what's happening in Golden.
We love visiting Golden, its shops, restaurants, sites and visitors center.

Attention visitors!! Be sure to stop here before you visit any shops or restaurants. The volunteers we talked to were so helpful and sweet, and really knowledgeable about the town of Golden. They will provide you with a map of the town along with "Golden Tickets" (5 stars just for the pun) that give you discounts at various businesses. The map is helpful and will allow you to really maximize your trip and make sure you see everything you want to. They visitor center and all their wealth of knowledge and pamphlets are free of charge, although they do accept donations. The best part though

This rating is really for the bike library. Here, the whole family can borrow a bike for a two hour ride. I've done a lot of traveling and this is maybe the best tourist freebie I've every come across.
There is an easy trail along the river, with a few places to sit and watch the water rush by. The guys running the library were super friendly and helpful, also giving us tips on where to eat lunch.
Golden is a nice little town to visit, although I wouldn't see a need to return. If you are into western/cowboy stuff, you might be more interested. We headed home by way of Lookout

This past weekend, we decided to take a tour of Golden, Colorado - well, at least the downtown area by the Colorado School of Mines. The Visitor Center is located downtown and provides a vast amount of information on Golden and other Colorado points of interest. What impressed me the most about the Visitor Center was its kid-friendly atmosphere. The Visitor Center has a kids' section which allows children to sit and draw on various informative brochures, such as a Junior Park Ranger pamphlet. I find this very helpful because it is hard to keep kids entertained while reading as well. My
