Even in late December, there are still thousands of butterflies to see! The docent that was there was very interesting to listen to!

Nice walk through a special place dedicated to what some consider the most gorgeous of the North American butterflies. This daunting little trail teaches you enlightening information about how docile these creatures are but the impact that each one makes in the world. This trail also implies the knowledge to each passer to keep the monarchs life cycle vibrant and striving. It only takes a few minutes to complete and it's a quaint little gem along California's Coast line.

We stayed here for two nights after traveling from the literal middle of the country. We brought our dog. Our first night we stepped outside to take a walk and could here the ocean waves from the street. We walked toward the beach and were greated by a young mule dear doe (they are everywhere and seem to be cool with people). That same weekend we got engaged on the beach and the whole stay was great! If you’re looking for a cute and retro place to stay that’s quiet, but close, this is a good place to stay!

Spacious rooms, conveniently located near the beach. Great service. The room was so huge! Perfect place for a family trip to Monterey. I've stayed several times and have never been disappointed.

It's a nice Inn with a reasonable rate. Rooms are clean and parking spots right in front of your room, so it's convenient. Staff are helpful and nice. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the vanity is in the room itself instead of being in the bathroom.

I have stay at this place before! I had called to make a reservation. I had ask for a room by the pool. When i got there the young lady put us in the mansion. Which i told her this is not the room i ask for! I check out the room i didn't like it. Because it was upstairs. I have a bad knee. So she talk to the owner and they move me into another room . Way more better and cleaner. There were stains on the chairs which didn't look very good. Bathroom is pretty decent. Unfortunately hardly any water coming out of the shower head terrible..They are new owners that took over the place. Not to friendly

My husband and I, along with our adult daughter, son-in-law and their two young boys just returned from a lovely visit to The Butterfly Grove Inn! We reserved two rooms, each with double queen beds. We arrived 3 hrs prior to the standard arrival time of 3:00 PM, but the friendly staff gave us permission to park at the Inn, so we could visit the Butterfly Sanctuary which is literally right next door. We were also allowed the use of both rooms early which was unexpected. The entire staff always greeted us with smiles and treated us like family. The rooms were comfy, spacious and very clean. Joey

The room was not what was shown when I booked it with a nice deck and cathedral ceilings . The gas heater/fireplace did not work. I was offered a space heater. The advertised breakfast, not there. I had to fight to get my money refunded because they considered the room "used" though we were there no longer than five minutes. The management could use some management training and all the namaste crap in the world does not make up for bait and switch and unsafe gas appliances.

Was here for a weekend family getaway and really enjoyed it's convenience. Parked right in front of our room and it was dog friendly too. Very quite and peaceful, and the baby really enjoyed the pool area. It's proximity to downtown was great for eating out.

The office staff really went out of their way for us. I was traveling with my wheelchair-bound friend, who called to book the room. She says that the clerk got up and went to look at the shower in the one accessible room. She reported that it had a roll-in shower, and we ended up there after a long day of yravel. Everyone was very friendly and nice. Also, it's in a beautiful location that made it easy to get thru downtown or to avoid it entirely. Just wonderful all the way around!

This place is a lovely little early-20th century Victorian mansion nestled between the coastline and a serene patch of forest, with a cute coat of salmon pink paint and butterfly theming to tie it together -- I was reminded strongly of the house from the movie "Coraline"! The location is really what shines the most about this place, with the butterfly sanctuary behind the building we stayed in and the Monterey Bay Aquarium being only a few minutes' drive away.

We stayed in a unit with a bathroom between two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms was barely big enough to fit the bed and the

My daughters brought me here for a birthday weekend, it was a really cute place, we'll kept. The room was clean and the roomy bathroom was clean and stocked well with towels etc. There was a microwave, coffee pot and mini frig. There was plenty of parking. We were able to bring our 2 small dogs . It was close enough to shopping and the wharf. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

Cute Victorian style hotel with a pool, cottages around the property. Butterly sanctuary is walking distance next door.
Stayed for one night with Covid restrictions mostly lifted. It was Mother's Day weekend so a little busy. Booked the 2 bedroom, larger room with the king bed & table, refrigerator, tv. Smaller room with queen bed and tv.
We stayed in the Victorian house in the back of the property. At check in, he told us to go through the second floor door to our room but we were still confused as it didn't have our hotel room # on the entrance so we walked around

This is during the Covid era, they don't have breakfast (just coffee outside the office in the morning.)

The place is cozy and quaint. Each room as a fireplace heater (I think!). The inside of the rooms has extra room, and there is a field area for your kids to run in. There's room around the pool too, if you want to have some kids in the water and some out, or for a little picnic. The butterfly grove is adjacent and a nice, and short walk. It's ideal for toddlers and smaller kids.

The rooms have all the basics and then some. Fridge, microwave, tv, hair dryer. The Wifi is not

Cozy little Inn, unfortunately we were unable to get the shower faucet to work. So had to do sponge bath. Seems maybe new management, not alot of attention to detail or customer service.. At checkin an online meeting was in progress, so barely any interaction. Not sure if we will revisit.

CONS: THE WALLS HERE ARE PAPER-THIN!!!! You can hear everything outside/inside and especially your neighbor-guest as they're talking, watching TV, when they're using the bathroom, as they're walking around, etc. I stayed here with my partner and tried to speak quietly/watch TV with the volume low myself, so the next-door guests wouldn't be bothered. It could have been the placement/particular room we were in (#3), but I couldn't sleep or was waken up multiple times by the sheer noise! I even wore earplugs the second night and could still hear everything. :-(

I was afraid to travel but read reviews of this place and wasn't as scared. But, my wife convinced me that we needed a mini vacation and I finally caved. I'm a total germaphobe and brought my Arsenal of disinfectant with me. Upon check in the lady at the desk was extremely nice and answered all my questions about their cleaning routines here. She wasn't annoyed at me asking questions or anything and was very thorough on her answers and very friendly. We walked into our room and I noticed the windows were open to allow for ventilation and the room seemed to be cleaned visually. Well

Believe it to be overpriced for what you got, Nothing. There is no breakfast, not enough parking and the worst, finding the maid in our room in midafternoon in our room. During Covid-19, every place, we have stayed, makes it a standard, that during your entire stay in your room, no one enters it, she should not be in there!
Add the worthless wireless internet, we have 3 cell phones on major carriers, that were constantly be dropped by their crap internet, result the first time in ten years we got a data overage alert. Go somewhere else for the money they charge!

The location is quite peaceful and right next to the monarch butterfly sanctuary. The entire neighborhood and the school seems to be enamored and proud of the butterlies that make that location very popular. The beautiful, front desk receptionist Umama, was very kind and was able to check us in with no issues at all (except when I got lost looking for our room #25). She came out to us in the parking lot and showed us where the hidden door was located. There is apparently a door next to room #27 that takes you through a small flight of stairs to more additional rooms in the large house. We

We ended up spending our week vacation in Pacific Grove for only one reason: neither my wife or I ski. Because when Tahoe, our first choice, despite it being late May, has a forecast of snow and highs in the 40s skiing is the only reasonable thing to do there. Hence, Plan B: Pacific Grove and Butterfly Grove Inn.

In the past, we haven't been big on two star-class motels, but the photos looked good and the $99 price was right. We arrived at 2 PM on a Saturday and were told the room wasn't clean yet and would not be ready until 4 PM. Housekeeping turned out to be the main blemish on

This place is a great deal! We got an excellent room that was actually two rooms with a shared bathroom. It was perfect for our group of four! It was the upstairs of a big house though so a little confusing to find in the dark. The location was amazing, very close to anything you'd want to get to in the area.

The rooms were huge and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was large and clean and check in went smoothly. I almost wish we had needed to stay more than one night!

The only downside is that breakfast didn't start until 8, which seems really late for a hotel since I would expect people
