Often times, when we consider treatment of disease we focus on different parts of the body. There seems to be a specialist for everything. A gastroenterologist for your colon, a nephrologist for you kidneys, an ophthalmologist for your eyes. While these doctors are crucial to the medical system, there is a lack of cohesiveness when it comes to total health.
There are aspects of health that require balancing the entire body for true healing. When we separate our body into different factions, the focus is on disease management or "covering up" of symptoms. Getting to the root cause of acute or chonic disease is what I aim to do. True healing is not covering up symptoms, it requires an investigative approach to minimize pharmacologic medication intake and improve overall function.

Dr. Tang does it again! This woman is the real deal. This summer, I had Bell's palsy and went to her, after 7 treatments it was 90% healed. As of today, It is 100% resolved.
Last week I returned, due to psoriasis. I have had several long-lasting bouts over the past few years, each time while nursing a new baby. This last bout began around October 2019 and has steadily gotten worse. When it began to spread from just my hands to my back and arms, I gave up experimenting with random ointments and came in. I asked her what causes it and she immediately answered dairy and yeast. She gave me a

They are the most skilled acupuncturists I have ever had. Both David and Kathy are also medical doctors. Regular acupuncture here completely healed my frozen shoulder.
Once again, Kathy has helped me again. I fell on my back and hurt my lower back. After one treatment, I've had significant relief. Now it is gone.
8/5/18
David had healed my frozen shoulder on the right side. A year later, I developed a frozen shoulder on my left side, which is typical for a frozen shoulder. Kathy gave me treatments twice a week. Now my shoulder is back to 100 percent.
Kathy and David use a lot

I am so grateful to have found Kathy. My first experience was the successful resolution of seasonal allergies. In Houston!! Then she brought me back to normal functioning after a brain hemorrhage when western doctors told me my impaired functioning was "normal for a damaged brain". With great kindness and skill, she restored me. Also, David is a wonderful Chinese doctor and their son, Dr Cheng Ruan, a Functional Medicine MD, has just opened a clinic worth checking out - TX Center for Lifestyle medicine. A good family to know!!

I've been bringing my 9 year old daughter for over 18 months due to an early puberty concern, beginning stages of early breast development. Her pediatrician seemed to think it was normal for an 8 year old to begin puberty, what??!! No!! And especially since our healthy lifestyle (organic clean eating, water filter system, very little chemical products in home, etc) and early puberty just didn't add up. They reluctantly referred us to a pediatric endocrinologist, not wanting nor trusting in western medicine at this point I turned to eastern medicine. It has worked!!!! Kathy is amazing, I didn't

I really do not like to write negative reviews, but I am hoping this would be perceived more as constructive criticism than negativity. I made an appointment with Dr. Kathy for today, and when i got there, i was the only person there. She spoke with me and then guided me to a room. I was a little taken aback by the musty scent of the place, but from the great reviews I had read prior to making my appointment, I felt it safe to proceed with it. She told me to lie on the table and that she would return shortly. Well, shortly turned into about 30 minutes. Mind you, I was on my lunch break. I then

Was not happy. I'm suffering from tinnitus and after the first visit they told me I had to come four more visits to have it resolved. Also at the end of the first session they suggested for me to buy their anti-inflammation pills. These pills cause some kind of paranoia the following day. I am not happy. I spend $150 for the first session. $80 for the acupuncture and $70 for these anti-inflammation pills.

I made my first appointment for 4pm today and showed up on time. I was excited to get some relief for back pain. After sitting patiently in the waiting room for 20 minutes.... I left with the hope I can find a provider who cares about my TIME and my well being.
If you like sitting in waiting rooms - this is a great place for you!

Amazing practice. Ms. Tang is a licensed MD in China and was invited to US by University of Texas Medical School to teach Acupuncture. She is very knowledgeable and her treatments helped both of our parents amazingly when traditional medicine did little for them.
Her office is perhaps not trendy, but it certainly isn't dirty. She orders her needles directly from the source and they are used once, then disposed of. Unlike many acupuncturist who try to save money disinfecting them. (not a good idea)
Highly recommend and the one person who left a negative review I call out as being a liar

Today was my second treatment for my back pain, I already felt a lot better after the first one. Like previous yelper mentioned, the day after the treatment, I felt great.
I took Dr. Ruan's suggestion taking some Chinese herb to eased my back pain, it helped. I paid $65 for 10 days.
Although the clinic's decor is not as modern as others, their professionalism are for sure no doubt.
First & Second treatment - $75
After - $80
Herb - $65
Accept Credit Card, but no AMX.

I'm so not the hippy dippy type but after no one was able to help with my lower back pain for months, other than a great massage that gave me relief for a day, I was deperate. Willing to try anything, I went to a chiropractor Monday. no help. Tuesday I stopped by here on a whim after having seen it for years next to whole foods. Kathy's family have been Chinese medicine doctors, acupuncturists & herbalists for generations back to their first clinic in china that was opened in the 1930s. After one session, I am a believer. My back felt a little worse initially that day but by the evening

I have been seeing Dr Kathy Tang since July for various reasons. With the fertility acupuncture treatments, I was able to get pregnant and will be expecting my first child soon! I still see her for treatments to help with the pregnancy, such as turning the baby from breech to head down position and the normal aches and pains that comes along with pregnancy.
She is a genuinely caring person who makes you feel comfortable. She has a lot of long term patients, which speaks for itself. They trust her to care for them for so long, so there must be something there.
The location is across the street

I have been visiting this clinic for the past year, on the recommendation of two friends who have seen results. The clinic has many patients - not surprising, since Dr. Tang and Dr. Ruan's family have been practicing Chinese medicine for decades/generations. All of the patients who I have talked to are very happy with the effectiveness and high standards of treatment, the ease of scheduling an appointment, the genuine care and concern of the doctors, and the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It's also in a great location next to Whole Foods Market in the West University area, with

This place is disgusting. To be quite honest this my honest review, in hopes that people will not get hurt or fooled by this place or by the so called acupuncturist
This place is completely dirty from the smell to the white scrubs that the man there who is treating people was wearing. There acupuncture needles were thrown and a mess. The people there have no knowledge as to what they are doing you ask them questions and they are unable to answer and articulate what exactly it is they do there. I was about to give them a chance, but when I started asking about the needles they use, the man got very

I've had a really good friend of mine swear by acupuncture in years past. I often just shrugged her suggestions off though. But a few days ago, I was suffering from a really sore muscle in my shoulder and ended up with a stiff and sore neck because I slept on it funny. It was so uncomfortable it was too difficult to sneeze or check my blind-spot while changing lanes. Yuck!
So, I gave TR a call, and they are conveniently located near the Whole Foods on Holcombe. Acupuncturist Kathy Tang knew immediately that it was my neck since I had trouble turning my head. She placed needles in a trail
