International Martial Arts
The IMB Academy takes a non-traditional approach towards Martial Arts training, focusing more on the individual and less on the style in which they study, because no single martial art style is applicable to each and every person. Students, as individuals, are different in size, physical ability, interest level and goals.

The "JKD" classes provide a controlled atmosphere that allows IMB students to safely experience multiple types of disciplines. This process enables them to absorb that which is most practical and functional. We supply you with the three basic ranges of various martial art disciplines. You practice them on your own and make your own decisions on what best fits your needs.

Jeet Kune Do is the fighting system and philosphy founded by Bruce Lee. Drawing largely from Wing Chun, western boxing and other styles, Bruce Lee came to reject the notion of rigid, well-defined styles that kept students limited within certain parameters.

As such, Jeet Kune Do represents more of a philosophy than an actual set of techniques that represent the "correct" method for kicking, punching, etc while defining other methods as incorrect or inferior. It is quite literally, "the style of no style, " that emphasizes the use of that which works, and discarding of that which doesn't.
Emery Academy of Martial Arts and IMB (International Martial Arts and Boxing) Academy proudly present a Jun Fan Gung Fu / JKD seminar with Sigung Taky Kimura and Sifu Andrew Kimura! Please join us for an incredible weekend of training with our dear friends of the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute of Seattle!
The world has lost a legend. It is with a heavy heart that we extend condolences to the Bustillo family in the passing of Richard S. Bustillo. He was a man among men and will be dearly missed. Condolences for the Bustillo family can be sent to the IMB Academy at 22109 S Vermont Ave, Torrance, CA 90802.
Summer is officially in full swing, and everyone's enjoying their vacations, pool days, theme parks, day trips and cookouts. It's easy to relax your safety standards without even realizing it, but that can potentially come at a great price. 1. Windows open; doors locked. Even if you have your windows open for the fresh summer air, make sure to lock your doors to prevent any mischievous onlookers who might perceive you as an easy target.

Really good FMA school. Our school used to spar with them back in the day to prep for tournaments and they were always a great bunch of people. Their local tournament was another great event that got put on. If you're looking for actual fighting skill with good instructors this place offers that.

Update, I had forgot to add that though my son had left this school to focus on his high school studies at CAMS in his sophomore year, he returned in his collegiate years as a cadet in the U.S. Air Force Academy and was welcomed with open arms a few times to train with the late, Great Sifu Richard Bustillo, Rex, Mark, Nicole, and staff...
My son eventually became a two-time National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Champion and was awarded by the tournament referees as the best boxer in the lower weight class in 2016 & 2017! https://youtu.be/Zlk9doqkK3s
Rest In Peace and Thank You again

This is the place to learn Martial Arts!
We heard about the legendary IMB in the 90s but it took awhile for us to find it... Our son Adam learned more here in less than a year and a half than the 4+ years he spent getting his black belt in MDK.

Sifu Richard Bustillo is an original student of the legendary Bruce Lee in the art of JKD & mixed martial arts along with Danny Inosanto. They both went on to establish their schools to share Bruce Lee's art along with their Filipino brand and mixed martial arts.

Just like Bruce Lee had inspired Sifu Richard Bustillo and countless martial artists

I take my 7 year old daughter here and she loves it. Her instructor, John, is really good with kids and they learn a lot.

Hands down its one of the best martial arts schools for kids in south bay. We live in Redondo beach but it's worth the trip.

Best place in the world! I don't live as close as you to, so I can't come here anymore, but I can't express how much this place changed my life. You can't get any more real and authentic then Sifu! Love this place and everyone there. I highly recommend, especially for children!!

Known world wide as one of Bruce Lee's students and Danny Insanto's partner. Grand Master Richard Bustillo has a wealth of knowledge and teaching style like no other. What you learn in one day, can be used with confidence that night if need be. Not only does IMB have a loyal following here in Torrance, but also on a global scale. There are IMB affilates worldwide. What I like most? All ego's are checked at the door. Doesn't matter where your from or who you are. GM Richard treats everyone the same, as an equal.

IMB Academy is without a doubt, the final word in Martial Arts Training. Attending a class here is like being among family members. Sifu Bustillo is a legend and where else can you train on some of the equipment that Bruce Lee, himself trained on?

I only wish it was closer so I could attend more than every once in a blue moon when I go down to LA.

This is a GREAT studio. I never pictured myself as someone who would like classes were they teach you how to fight but this studio does SO much more. From the first time you step foot inside, everyone is welcoming and friendly. They ease you into the moves but always push you to do your best. The instructors work hard to make sure that you are reaching your full potential and it is not about fighting but about defending yourself and building up your confidence. I feel a lot stronger then I did walking in the first day and highly recommend this studio to my friends. Its a great work out and confidence

I started training at the IMB when I was in high school and brought me confidence, knowledge and strength. No one can ever take those away from me. Thank you Sifu Richard Bustillo for building me in to a confident woman.

I've been training at the IMB Academy with their Brazilian Jiujitsu class for several months now, and as a beginner, I would have to say that this is probably one of the best deals in the southbay.

Our instructor, Ron Shinkai, is a brown belt under Fernando Vasconcelos, who used to teach at this school. Ron is great at instruction, always making sure to go over all the fine points in techniques and giving everyone enough time to practice in a fun and controlled atmosphere.

I have some friends who train at a few of the "name-brand" schools, and I know they pay close to twice what
