We are a non-profit, Waldorf preschool that offers a developmentally appropriate early learning program honoring childhood and all the magic therein! River Song provides Waldorf early childhood education to children 2.5 - 6 years of age. Small class sizes, continuity of care, a connection to nature, and teachers who truly care and love their students are just a few things you can expect at our school.

Come see how your child can thrive in our warm, loving environment that focuses on the whole child ~ head, hands, & heart. Is your child too young for preschool? Not sure if they are ready? Or maybe you just want to know a little more about Waldorf? Our Blossom Garden program is a parent-tot class that is just right for children 18 months - 3 years of age.

Waldorf in the News (Portland Waldorf School in Portland, OR curates a wonderful list of links on Waldorf and alternative education resources). Steiner's writings can be a bit.heady. Remember he was a man and writer of his time (early 20th Century). If you can get past some of the antiquated literary stylings, and you can focus on his ideas and insights, these essays and lectures may be of great interest to you.
During this time of unknown, the one thing we are sure of is that our teachers need, and deserve, our continued support. As River Song will be soon reopening in a lessened capacity, the tuition brought in with fewer children will not cover all of our teacher salaries and operating expenses. River Song was blessed to get a portion of the PPP loan, which covered all salaries for April and May.
Tuition assistance is available for families who qualify. Once an opening is available, an application will need to be completed with supporting documentation to determine the amount of assistance we can offer. Discounts range from 10%-20%.

The Kindergarten is a garden for the soul of a child to explore, a peaceful and gentle place filled with natural beauty, sunlight, and laughter. It's a refuge where a child can enter the golden state of play where genuine learning occurs. It is found not only in a classroom, but in friendship and in nature, in time and weather.

I wouldn't send my children anywhere else. This is a place where your children are not only cared for but nurtured.
