Lyons Valley Preschool

This was tragic news for the parents and children who were already fragile from their experiences with the flood and who simply wanted to get back into a normal routine. Seeing this need, a group of parents from LCM have began working together to start a new Montessori-based preschool. Heartened by our community's optimism and emboldened by the size of the task at hand, our founders got to work.

Lyons Valley Preschool is a high quality Montessori based early childhood learning program committed to supporting children's unique individual potential with a focus on academic excellence, leadership, community, peace and stewardship of the Earth.

Lyons Valley Preschool pledges to passionately provide children a safe learning environment that utilizes the Montessori philosophy nurturing the whole child through the senses and discovery while providing an environment that supports physical, emotional and intellectual growth.

Lyons Valley Preschool maintains a waitlist for families currently enrolled and seeking to enroll in our early childhood program. The purpose of the waitlist policy is to ensure a fair process that is aligned with the integrity of Lyons Valley Preschool. There is a $35 application fee to request enrollment at Lyons Valley Preschool.

Montessori is an innovative, child-centered approach to education, developed a century ago by a woman ahead of her time. Working with institutionalized and inner-city youngsters, Dr. Maria Montessori was struck by how avidly the children absorbed knowledge from their surroundings. Given developmentally appropriate materials and the freedom to follow their interests, they joyfully taught themselves.

Thank you for directing a school that recognizes taking care of our planet, playing, being mindful and kind, and love as top priorities. Everything, from watching my child perform "Salutations to the sun" and seated meditations connecting to love and peace to out of nowhere announcing "Uranus is my favorite planet", fill me with happiness.
