Stacie Nordrum earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Washington University in 2002 and a Doctor of Audiology degree from Northwestern University in 2006. While at Northwestern, she did research in the areas of emerging hearing aid technologies and speech understanding in complex acoustic environments.
As of 2009, there are some 315 million people in the United States. Of those, it is estimated about 36 million Americans have hearing loss. Although hearing loss is often associated with aging, hearing loss is clearly present in newborns, children, teenagers, young adults and adults. Healthy human ears can perceive an enormous range of sounds in terms of pitch and loudness.
Hearing aids are the primary means of managing hearing loss that cannot be treated medically or surgically. At Island Hearing Healthcare, Dr. Nordrum will conduct a comprehensive hearing evaluation to determine whether or not you are a candidate for hearing aids. Based on your evaluation, she may recommend hearing aids or make a referral to investigate medical or surgical options.
