After a long day of skiing on the mountain we looked for a good place to have dinner,
Truckee Tavern and Grill eve the best place to have your dinner in Truckee! The service was amazing the place is clean and the vibe is just awesome!
We had the family dinner the whole roasted chicken for three people, it's an amazing dish that could be great for 4 to 5 people and the chicken is just perfect.
Highly recommended definitely going to be back to this place again.

I don't entirely understand the hanging doors, but I like them. They break up the dining room and make it feel a little more personal without getting claustrophobic.
Some of the best food in downtown Truckee with something for everyone. Can't get a table? The bar staff is super attentive and crafts some great cocktails!

Food and service don't hold up to the ambience. The place is all kinds of sexy but the wait staff (administrative staff seem to be pretty capable because they accommodated our party of 6 fairly last minute) could not have cared less about us--probably missed 2-3 rounds of drinks AND he didn't mention to us that they were out of the Duck Confit before we sat down and 4 out of the 6 of us wanted to order it. But the biggest disappointment was the DISGUSTING FATTY PORK CHOP they served me when it was my bachelor party dinner. Not even close to the attention to detail necessary to be the

Had grilled trout with skin on-fish farm raised, but kept in deep holes for natural environment from Snake River, ID (shared by Austin, Assistant Mgr). Salad mixed greens good. Wine by glass limited selection but good. Dined upstairs, I like this place-spacious. The salted caramel Sunday simply must be ordered. The ice cream is one of the richest I've had, the apple pie is special!!

We are from San Antonio Texas. My son took us out for dinner. Of course we walked around gift shopping. We when in to several restaurant they had about an 1:45 waiting. They looked to crowd tables to close to each other no room to walk by. My son had seen your restaurant waiting shopping. Just walking in you could feel how nice and comfortable it is plus it smelled so good. I ordered your pork chop 😋 and roast carrots OMG it wassoooooo delicious. My son, grandson, boyfriend order steaks. We were all satisfied with the food and your staff was so friendly and wonderful. The place was so clean

Bougie little place upstairs with clean and relaxing ambiance. This was recommended to us by a bar tender in Virginia City!
The menu is limited but everything was very fresh and the ingredients were high quality. Our waiter was training another staff member and the service was absolutely perfect. Attentive and friendly.
I had an incredible cocktail. I can't remember the name of it but it started with an A and was well crafted. Will absolutely come back next time we're in town.

Came in for an early dinner on a Sunday after biking. We sat at the upstairs outdoor balcony to enjoy a warm summer evening. Service was attentive, but our main entrees took a long time to come out. Charcuterie board was a nice app for 4 people and helped us from getting too hangry. I ordered a bbq chicken sandwich with lemonade. Lemonade was pretty good, had pulp so we knew it was fresh. I wasn't a fan of the bbq chicken. The chicken itself was dry and the flavors of the ingredients just didn't blend well for me. I enjoy my fries the most. Friend's steaks and burgers were good though

If I could give zero stars to Truckee Tavern, you'd see no stars. This isn't for the food, as we never ate. It's for the host and his attitude. We walked upstairs and asked to be seated outside. Told the host we have our K9, a service K9, and he says, "We don't allow dogs outside." I said it was a service dog and he literally rolled his eyes and let out a huff...
At this point, I said never mind and we walked away. To the Management and host, no need to have an attitude, know your laws when it comes to service K9's and their handlers.

I enjoyed dinner on the balcony for my birthday yesterday. We shared the starter side salad which was light and fresh. The roasted chicken was comforting and the Yukon mashed potatoes were also satisfying. My husband had a delicious ribeye steak cooked to perfection. He had mac and cheese as his side--so yummy. Cassidy took great care of us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Make a reservation in advance on their website.

The Truckee Tavern was as expected, great.
The drinks were perfectly crafted and very creative. I wish i could have had more but had to drive! They have a great cocktail bar and everything we had was top notch.
The food was also fantastic we had the summer salad, grilled shrimp, lamb linguine. Each one had its own unique flavor and the portion sizes are generous so we didn't leave hungry. I would definitely get the salad and shrimp if you can those were especially good.
Lastly the decor is really cool. An old style brick tavern with a rooftop patio (sit here) that looks out to the mountains

Great spot in Truckee, delicious dinner. The staff was super friendly. They had options to seat inside and outside. The drinks were very good, but without a doubt "Unofficial Greatest" is delicious, especially with the touch of cinammon. Read a few reviews and had to try their Mac and Cheese, and indeed it was very good. Halibut was grilled very well, but the Tavern winter salad was without a doubt a winner.
For dessert we had the Salted Caramel Sunday, and man that was good! Perfect finish.

Update: had dinner here a couple of times, I am in love with their black bean veggie burger. I've ordered it twice! their vegetarian soups are fantastic too.
also - the drink I highly recommend with the plantains is "mechanical relief". I've also tried the chefs choice (twice) and it was great.
we celebrated my husbands birthday here a month ago with some friends, our party was probably a little loud :) service was exceptional though. they even put a little candle on the cake!

Stopped here on our way home from ski week in Utah to grab lunch. It was February 2021 and due to whatever tier the county was because of Covid, it was outside seating only. It was nice sitting on the outdoor balcony. Beautiful view! For the prices I think the meal missed the mark a little bit but we definitely enjoyed the the lunch as a whole. Next time I'd grab a burger here because it's hard to make a bad burger. I'd give them another try but I'm not running back.

First the positive, we were greeted warmly by the very friendly bartender and seated at a lovely table. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. It took forever for the server to take our drink order and then quite a while for the drinks to arrive.

We were going to eat at Fifty Fifty Brewing, got there, plugged the Tesla in at the supercharger. Got to the hostess area, she sat a table of 4 adults, 2 kids then came back and told us it would be 25-30 min for a table. We were going to leave then decided to go back and get on the list. Now she said it would be even longer because their "system" was down. We left - very disappointed.
We came back to Old Town and of course Sunday at noon, everywhere is packed.
Got to Truckee Tavern and Grill and was told about a 20 min wait. Not too bad. Walked the shops and came

So yes it's on the main street in town but it delivers the quantity and quality for what you pay for. I'm talking mainly about the rich meatloaf, with mashed potatoes, gravy, fresh cut veggies and gravy. Yes, I put it in twice because I love gravy.

Friendly service with spacious inside, good for social distancing, and an outdoor deck with views of main street. Menu is nice, and prices are reasonable. Some healthy options too. However the chef has a very heavy hand with the salt shaker. My salmon was almost inedible due to it. Just be sure to ask the chef to go light on the salt and you'll be happy.

Maitre d was very snobbish, oh we can't find seats for 7 on a holiday weekend you need to make reservations. So we sat at the bar the bartender was wonderful. We ordered a few things was not impressed at all. Very disappointed. When we left there was more than enough room still in the bar and the restaurant. I can see where this is a fashion type of place to get custom-made drinks but if you want to throw your hard-earned money towards the food I wouldn't do it. Save your money and go elsewhere.
