I have always dreamed of owning a restaurant where my friends and family would feel at home and where strangers would soon become friends. I have been in the restaurant industry since I was 14 years old and have been influenced by many wonderful chefs preparing a wide array of foods from many cultures.
With all the options for dining in the Lake Tahoe area we are pleased you have found our website. First time going and not the last. The whole staff is super friendly, got seated quickly and the service was great! Then add the food, the owner suggested a few different things to try and they did not disappoint!

Fully deserving 5 star. This is what makes reviews magic, a little hidden and found 5 star dining in a cozy shop with an owner that genuinely cares. Came here after a busy day 5 minutes before they closed (didn't realize it) and they could not have been more delightful, I rarely review but they for sure deserve it. I would have food photos of my massive bacon maple French toast but I dug into it too fast. Was insanely good.

Best breakfast in south lake tahoe! We were in town for 4 days and had breakfast there everyday. Had their home made chorizo and it was so good! Loved that they serve drinks while waiting for a table. Really good bloody mary's and micheladas. Staff was really nice and friendly. Their coconut crusted french toast, chorizo omelet, chorizo chilaquiles, and hot cocoa were all amazing! We will be back!

We make a point to have brunch here every time we visit South Lake Tahoe. Everything we have had to eat here has been nothing short of fantastic. The owner and staff have always been pleasant and friendly and our experience last weekend was no different. Everyone we have come into contact with there are welcoming and genuinely friendly people. My wife departed from the usual brunch items and ordered a Patty Melt on our last visit and she said it was the best she has ever had. She did "brunch" it up ordering an egg on the side which then went on top of the Patty Melt, she would recommend you doing

This place really hit the spot for breakfast! Some friends and drove in from a week of camping and absolutely devoured one of the best breakfasts we've ever had here. Fresh food, friendly staff & owner, great vibes in the restaurant and overall just an amazing time. We had the chocolate pancakes with peppermint, chilaquiles with chorizo, a few other things, and bottomless coffee...all delicious, and the diner coffee was better than expected too!

Tiny little place that we almost missed 😬.
So glad they were open. And on the westbound side as I didn't want to cross that busy road.
But I had probably the best bowl of chili ever! Slightly thick sauce and meaty and beany and tasty and spicy, without sending me to ER!
And the turkey Club sandwich was full and delicious too. Coffee was hot and plentiful as well.

An absolute gem of a find! This place is awesome! The hostess who we assume was the owner could not be sweeter! Our waitress who we assume was the daughter was a doll.
The service was great and the food was spectacular! Fabulous coffee, perfect eggs benedict, delicious seasonal pancakes.
The wait went quickly and it is a beautiful little spot just outside south lake so waiting wasn't the end of the world.
No question we will be back! Especially with our boys since they are dog friendly too!

Big fan of this place. Got seated right away at 9am, though it filled up shortly after where people could only sit outside. We both loved our breakfast - the morning after is a winner and so is the eggs Benedict. OJ also good, as is the coffee. Very friendly service. A must go if you’re in the area!

There’s a reason why it’s so popular! If there is a wait, it’s worth it. The food and drink are incredible with exceptional service to boot! Outdoor seating in the summer is so lovely. The mimosas are the best I’ve ever had and the Bloody Mary has bacon and pickle garnish! Eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy?! Yes please. They have veg options too. Yum!

This little place is amazing! I had the Coconut crusted French toast and it was incredible. They give you so much food, it's impossible to finish it. My husband had the chilaquiles and my kids had the Mickey Mouse pancakes. No one was disappointed. The service is fantastic and it's easy to see why they are the best of the best in South Lake Tahoe.

Awesome food and service. We stopped by on the way to South Lake Tahoe for some breakfast and got a cute table outside. The owner came and greeted us and talked about her food. I ordered the Veggie benadict. It was so good! The potatoes had onions and bell peppers in them, my favorite! They also have alcohol, different flavored mimosas and other breakfast drinks. All the food on the menu looked amazing, cant wait to go back and try something else.

My Family and I were visiting from Arizona and were recommended The Getaway Cafe and man, what an amazing place to eat! The food was phenomenal and the staff was even better. The owner is as sweet as can be. We just had to eat there two days in a row! If you're near or far, THIS is the place to go! We will definitely make that drive again for this place!

They have a lovely patio as well as indoor seating. Bathrooms are clean. Ample parking, although i imagine the weekends this place can get packed and waits may be long.
I'm not sure if they take reservations, but it can't hurt to try.
They have a self serve coffee station at the entrance of you're like me and want a coffee asap. $3.75 and they'll add it to your bill and continue the refills.
The patio is dog friendly. Water bowls are provided

Getaway Cafe was my first requested stop for brunch once we hit town. We arrived to a short wait, and took a little stroll down the nearby bike path and when we returned our table was ready.

The best breakfast in Tahoe no doubt and one of the best breakfast experiences I've had. Came with a big group and got seated pretty quickly, the owner was working the host stand and was so nice it made the experience the best! All the food was fresh, hot and full of good flavor. The servers were great and everyone made us feel like we were right at home. I have been coming to Tahoe multiple times a year my whole life and somehow have never tried this place until my last trip. So happy I do not have to settle for ernies anymore this is definitely my new go to place. I highly recommend this
