When you think of a hotel, tall buildings come to mind, but a Maggie Valley Hotel is a different thing all together. They can be spoken of as motels, inns, lodges, but we like to refer to ours as simply "home". A home where you are all welcome. The Smoky Falls Lodge on Jonathan Creek in Maggie Valley.
The crown jewel of Maggie Valley Hotels. The storied building was once the Mount Valley Lodge and has been passionately restored and enhanced past it's former glory. Fashioned after the rustic log lodges of old, the new lodge now features pillow top beds, cable TV and wireless internet access. Your stay here will be comfortable, relaxed, and refreshing.

So, Smoky Falls Lodge was a last minute booking as I was approaching the area. Of course the rate showing online was much less than the actual rate. I wanted to support local business so, although it would have been a little less to book a chain with free breakfast and all, I proceeded to call to request AAA, AARP, or military discount. She went down to $99 on Thursday and $149 for Friday. The total with tax and fees was $275. Ok, not bad if clean and quiet. Pay the whole thing in advance, no refunds if we left before day 2.

We stayed here after seeing the picture of the hotel and rooms online. When we arrived, I went inside to check in, there was a gentleman installing new security cameras, he never said anything to me, I eventually had to ask him if there was someone that could help me check in. He then went into to steakhouse/grill area to find the desk clerk. Once he came out I was able to get checked in.
We got to our room and it smelled musky. We laid down to take a nap after a long drive and found the beds to be extremely uncomfortable. Both beds seem to slope to the middle.

I came here with a Harley Davidson motorcycle group for the weekend. I was assigned this hotel and I am so ecstatic. Not only was the room pristine, it was outdoorsy and rustic, it came with a gas fireplace and plenty of room. The view of the Blue Ridge Parkway is phenomenal as well. I cannot wait to explore the rest of this area. I hope to come back here again soon.

The service at this hotel was horrible. I went to check in and they had lost my reservation. That would have been ok, but the lady at the front desk was so rude about it, and basically said it was my fault. She finally found it, by the way, with no apology. Will never go back due to the attitude of this woman.
