In 1966, Pat Lacoste found her calling. She began her first work in early childhood programs in both the United States and Europe. She gained valuable experience in traditional preschools, childcare centers, and eventually in Montessori environments. She obtained her Montessori diploma in 1976, at St. Nicholas in London.
The insight she gained by working in such diverse programs led her to fulfill her dream of creating a place where children are nurtured, stimulated, and respected. Thus, Kinder Haus Montessori School was built in 1984. Our Metairie school is a model facility, toured and used as a training site for hundreds of professional Montessori and traditional teachers over the years.

Scientific observation has established that education is not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment. The task of the teacher becomes that of preparing a series of motives of cultural activity, spread over a specially prepared environment, and then refraining from obtrusive interference.
Upon entering the Toddler classroom you can feel the love and warmth that the toddlers experience on a daily basis. A neutral color scheme promotes calmness throughout the class. Everything is designed with the 1 - 2-year-old child in mind, including low-rise shelves that provide easy accessibility for choosing "work."
With the knowledge that the first three years of life are so important to brain development, the preschool classroom is designed to provide the children with sensorial development: visual discrimination of size, shape and colors; sound discrimination; language development; and intro mathematics. The classroom also has areas for art expression and daily living skills (pouring, spooning, cleaning).
The Pre-K & Kindergarten class has a very welcoming and spacious outlay that makes for a conducive environment to explore and learn. With an abundance of windows illuminating the class and allowing natural sunlight to flow through, the nature vibes are in full-throttle.
The Pre-K/Kindergarten class is a carefully prepared learning environment designed to meet the individual needs of each child, which give them the opportunity to reach their full potential. The shelves in the classroom are lined with Montessori work lessons that are progressive, moving from simple to complex and concrete to abstract.

We are always accepting applications and seeking highly motivated people to nurture and guide our students. Dynamic and dedicated candidates can further their professional development while working with experienced educators. Part-time and substitute teachers are given the opportunity to move to full-time positions as they become available.

You might just wanna think twice before placing your kid here. There is some odd things going on at that place, you get an uneasy feeling. Employees just go away, and new ones suddenly appear constantly. You never know who will be watching your kid tomorrow-that was the first red flag. Then the ones that I had daily contact with do not seem to be well trained or have much teaching experience, maybe both, can’t say all but a few that I have seen. The owner says they are Montessori, not a daycare, but yeah it’s a daycare that overcharges. The owner can be so unpleasant, depending on the day,

I'm an alumni teacher, parent and current trainer for teachers at KINDER Haus MONTESSORI Schools. My son took his first steps at the METAIRIE CAMPUS ,then learned to swim at the Mandeville Campus. Over 35 years of services for families IS OBVIOUS in the quality of care and EARLY LEARNING EXPERIENCES. Peace of mind for parents and a GIFT FOR LIFE for the students, KINDER Haus is a magic CHILDREN'S HOUSE !

Wouldn’t recommend. I was so excited to try this place/the Montessori method with my children. There were elements that I really liked, but discipline was not one of them. They don’t deal well with occasional bad behaviors. As one example, rather than working with an emotional child who may need a little extra time or TLC, they make the parent come pick up the child when they act out. Incredibly inconvenient for working parents. It’s like they expect perfect children or something. I was soooo disappointed.

Love this school. If you’re looking for a “day care” look elsewhere. It might be a preschool but it’s run like “big school”. The teachers and staff are so personable but professional at the same time, they always hear your concerns and try to work with the parents. But the most interesting thing is to see the kids doing “work”- and those kids are doing just that. They are always busy with activities and they are the friendliest, most hospitable kids you’ll meet. They welcome new kids with open arms. There are teachers still there from something like 20 years ago. Tamra & Bonnie

I was not impressed when I toured. I honestly don't understand the hefty price tag when they don't even have central air conditioning. I was sweating throughout the tour and just wanted it to end. Also the toilets had no dividers or privacy stalls, which was kind of weird, considering the kids in that classroom were all potty trained. And the lights were all off even though the kids were awake and doing activities. I got a bleak impression of the place and would not consider placing my child here. But they have a long waiting list and charge a fortune anyway, so I guess they're doing something right

Won’t refer anyone to this place. Heard they love to stiff service industry workers. If someone is delivering a large order to your place of business especially when it’s 105 heat index you should at the least expect to tip 10%
Having a personal shopper is a luxury service and you should tip accordingly. Especially when that person is making your Costco trip that is hundreds of dollars, shopping your list, loading and unloading those things for you for around a 6$ delivery fee.

My daughter is attending Kinder Haus, and the school is incredible. The teachers are nurturing, loving, caring, and creative. It is truly astonishing to witness so many young children accomplishing such advanced things. Even more incredibly- the children LOVE learning! There is truly no greater place to send your child. This is my first time parting with my daughter, and the feeling of confidence knowing she is going in the best hands possible is priceless.
