I love going here to get my hair cut. Bobbie is a wonderful stylist for men's and women's hair. If I just need a quick trim, I'm in and out without fuss. If I need a bit more attention, she takes the time to talk to me about what I may or may not want in a style. The other stylist (her son) is just as talented and very detail oriented. I've watched him cut hair with exacting precision. I like her new space (all the older reviews apply to her old space) as it's comfortable and convenient to both Durham and CH. I've been seeing Hamza for 4 years now; my daughters see him as well. The biggest reason I keep going back is that he likes to understand what I want before he will cut my hair. I don't like to spend a long time with my cuts so I get there with freshly washed hair, and am done within an hour. And it looks good! One of my daughters has difficult hair - quite thick and coarse. He made sure we understood that cutting it short would actually make it harder to maintain. He's been able to give her a hair cut that is short and layered in a way that doesn't make it spread out uncontrollable and looks good

Hamza has been cutting my hair for nearly 10 years. Now and again over the years, I have gone elsewhere while traveling or when in need of an immediate cut and usually end up coming back to him the next month to fix whatever damage was done. He and Bobbie are good people and I'd argue are two of the best hair care engineers in the area.

I had gone to Destenee Salon two times before today and I will not be returning. I asked for highlights in my hair but was not made aware that the red in my hair would make it orange if it was bleached--yes, that may seem like a no-brainer but the stylist looked at the photos and said "oh yeah, I can definitely do that. It will look beautiful on you." So, my hair did turn orange and to fix it they covered it with an all over color; then blow dried it to see what it would look like. I got to the register and it was 190 dollars. I was charged to have their mistake fixed, and the blow dry

Please go to Destenee! A full service salon/spa. I am 64 yrs old....and have lived in this area for 10 yrs. Trust me....they are very professional, very expert in all aspects(hair, nails, massage, facials)...they even offer threading. And pricing is certainly VERY GOOD.
My stylist at Destenee is Noushin. She is a conscientious, very particular about her haircuts....and a master of mine....which is the classic "bob" angled longer- front-to-shorter back. Not everyone can do this cut. And her highlights are amazing. I always get compliments.

I am very impressed with Kim - she is a professional and does a great job with her waxing services. I have been to many salons over the past 14 years and Kim is one of the best. She is professinal, understands the pain with waxing, and minimizes it with her products and technique. I recommend Kim for her waxing services and I plan to try some of her other services in the future!

I wasn't going to write a review on Destenee Salon because I figured my horrendous experience must have been out of character for such a highly praised facility. However, after reading another negative review, which resembled what I went through, I decided to speak up.
I had the most horrific experience at this salon. I have previously had extensions and was looking to get them again. After a lot of research I went into Destenee for a consultation. The woman I spoke with told me that there would be no fee for the hair and that the cost would be $100 per hour. Thinking this was a wonderful deal

I think they are a bit overpriced for the quality. I was astonished when I went to pay. My hair didn't look nearly good enough for those prices. If you want to spend that kind of money I suggest Mina's Studio.
For reference, I went to Destenee's for a hair highlighting and trim. She didn't highlight my hair nearly as much as I would have liked. And she didn't discuss my desires enough before starting.

I'm 28 years old and I've never gone back to the same hairstylist twice because I've NEVER liked a single haircut I've received. I would usually end up in tears, frustrated that I couldn't find someone to give me a good haircut, however, I think I've finally found the one. I ended up at Destenee thanks to a Groupon or Living Social deal and I'm really thankful for that fortuitous purchase last fall. I really appreciate how helpful and friendly ALL the staff are. Like another reviewer mentioned, typically receptionists are rushed and oftentimes rude, but at Destenee

I got a livingsocial.com deal to Destenee and was skeptical whether a salon with a 50% off deal would be any good. I had a great experience - Whitney was my hairstyist and recommended a good cut and look for me. The salon itself is located in a small strip mall but inside it's very clean and modern, a little pricey for a cut that took only about 15 minutes but my stylist took the time to explain and answered my hair and styling questions and I came out with a good haircut and understanding how to manage it better.

Firstly I would have given a five star. But I would love to do so after my next visit because I have faith that my stylist (Ashley) will impress me even more in my next visit. The best thing was she gave me a hair cut/style which suits my natural hair texture completely. Hence to maintain the style by myself, I don't need styling products at all. My hair is wavy and frizzy by nature and I can't believe that she could style it so effortlessly. I will strongly recommend her to others, and after a long search I ultimately found my stylist

I went here because of the Livingsocial deal they had. I went for a Brazillian. When I first got there, they said the wax was not hot (to be fair, they had said this had never happened before) but I still had to wait about 15 minutes for it to heat up ... just lying on the waxing table. Then, someone needed to be trained so there was a lady watching the entire process. I had agreed to it, and I didn't mind that she was watching (it's just a job) but I didn't realize that that meant every single step was going to be slower and explained in detail. I really wanted to like this place. All started well - the stylist seemed to know exactly what I wanted and we proceeded. I am a natural blonde and wanted highlights with some darker tones to compliment. I did not want brown hair with a few highlights only on top! Her constant conversation about coming back and pushing products was annoying. It was not a spa environment at all - mostly sales techniques. For the $$ I should have felt pampered and loved my hair.

This place has HORRIBLE customer service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! They quoted us one price and at the end of the day tried to charge us a LARGE amount more! And when we complained the owner did not have the decency to even SPEAK to us about it! She was standing ten feet from the front counter!!! I called and was put on hold for five minutes then hung up on. AND the way they talk to you is just RUDE RUDE RUDE! (Carrie the make-up artist is awesome.)
