St. John's Preschool is a ministry of St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Parents within our church and community trust the St. John's Preschool Staff to care for and educate their young children in a loving environment that enhances each child's development and promotes a love of learning.
Our program is designed to provide a stimulus for each child's mental, social, and physical capacity. Each child will become aware of the world around them through play, arts and crafts, discovery, music, exercise, and socialization with others. Our experienced staff will help to provide an understanding and love-filled environment where each child can develop and grow at his or her own rate.

Favorite Preschool Memory: My favorite preschool memory was erupting the volcano we made in class during letter "V" week. The expressions on the children's faces became a forever memory in my heart. I also love meeting all the new St. John's families on the first day of school. Favorite Preschool Memory: I have so many wonderful memories, it is hard to choose just one.
The main goal of the three year old class is to provide opportunities for the children to work, play and share with others. Children will be encouraged to follow simple directions, listen to stories, and share their ideas. They will participate in many physical activities, group singing, field trips, and be introduced to several different art media.
The four year old program is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten. Emphasis is placed on socialization; color, shape, number, and capital and lowercase letter identification; solitary, parallel, and cooperative play; and self-reliance skills. Teachers work closely with the children to help them increase attention span and listening skills as well as following directions.
If your child loves coming to school then you may want to extend their school day by using our Clubhouse. So, come join the fun! A late fee of $10.00 will be charged for each 15 minute interval after the closing time of 3:00 p.m. Emergency use of the clubhouse facility may be made but please call as soon as possible to ensure that adequate adults are present.
