To determine the type of acupuncture treatment that will help you the most, your practitioner may ask you about your symptoms, dietary, and lifestyle considerations. This initial evaluation may take 60 to 90 minutes. Thereafter, the following appointments usually take about 30 to 45 minutes. After an acupuncture treatment some patients feel relaxed and others feel energized.
The practitioner may discuss your future treatment options with you as well as prescibing medicinal herbs, QiGong exercises, and dietary lifestyle considerations. Mary, I am SO GRATEFUL to have met you and experienced Medical Qi Gong with you. I arrived with an open mind and curiosity about the practice.

Plan 90 minutes for your first visit and 45 to 60 minutes for follow-up visits. Your initial visit includes a full medical intake and health history, as well as a comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) examination of the tongue and pulse. The comprehensive assessment is used to develop a customized TCM treatment plan for you.
Acupuncture treatment is the ancient art of inserting delicate, sterile needles in precise points on the body to facilitate a healthy energy (qi) balance of mind, body, and spirit. Restoring a healthy balance relieves dis-ease, pain, and even emotional disturbances. Acupuncture has been used to heal and to prevent disease for thousands of years.
Electro-acupuncture or electro-stimulation has been used in Chinese medicine since the mid-1900s. Acupuncture needles are placed according to a TCM diagnosis and their effectiveness is enhanced by attaching a small low-voltage electrical device to the needles. Minute electrical pulses are delivered to the needles.
Auricular acupuncture was introduced in 1951 by Dr. Paul Nogier, a French medical research scientist. Basing his research on traditional Chinese medicine principles, he recognized the external surface of the ear as a micro-system using point locations to diagnose and treat health conditions.
Auricular acupuncture treatment can be completed using very thin acupuncture needles during a session with an acupuncturist or vaccaria seeds, often called ear seeds, may be placed for extended periods of treatment. The seeds placed with a small piece of adhesive tape are left on the ear for several days.

I had been battling some problems following a serious calf injury. I had seen a couple of doctors and another acupuncturist, but nothing worked well. Then a family member suggested I see Mary. The results of the acupuncture and Chinese herbs were immediate and lasting. And, as a bonus, at one of my appointments, my chronic on and off back pain had flared up. She treated that as well that day with acupuncture and cupping and, again, the results were immediate.
