This hotel made our vacation so wonderful. It was impeccably clean and the service was outstanding. They helped us with finding food and sites around Philadelphia and was friendly and personable. We will definitely be back!

Location, location, location. The most picturesque area of Philly, lots of quaint cobblestone streets and adorable alleys. The front desk staff were a little tude-y. The room, if not luxurious, was large, with lots of natural light and windows that opened for a delicious breeze. The bathtub was actually half a bathtub, which means I had to contort to fit into it, but the water was hot and the drain-plug worked. The bed was comfortable. There was some street noise, but it was minimal. You could hear people walking above us, too, but my trusty white noise machine fixed that problem. The TV

Although this is an older hotel, it was perfect for our overnight stay and tour of the city. The room was a little on the smaller side as far as hotel rooms go, but it was clean and adequately appointed. The location was perfect for us, as it was within walking distance to several local sites on our itinerary. We did have an issue with the fan unit in our room, but the staff was quick to respond to our concern and provided us with a portable unit for our stay. On our next visit to Philadelphia, the Alexander will likely be our hotel of choice.

I needed to come to Philly on short notice for an unknown length of stay, for a difficult family situation. I booked directly with Kris at the desk. Yes the property is older and the rooms are smaller. That didn't matter one bit. I needed to cut my visit shorter than the 5 nights I booked and they were very helpful. I needed to change rooms after the first night and again, very accommodating. I'm a light sleeper so my only difficulty was interior ambient noise (plumbing, AC compressor). All the staff were excellent, very much appreciated.

Fantastic service, great location. Rooms are clean and they had exactly what I needed. They have comfy pillows and mattresses. TV was pretty small but, but I have a tablet, so didn't affect me. Highly recommended!

The Good
The Inn itself was good and the front desk people were friendly and helpful. The room was small but the bed was comfortable and had a small but functional bathroom.
The Bad and the Ugly there’s no onsite parking. It’s a discounted lot 2 blocks away. A long walk after a tiring day plus add 25.00 to price of room. Also no where to pull up and unload vehicle no luggage carts

We had the most enjoyable stay at the Alexander Inn! It is located in the perfect neighborhood! It's on a beautiful and very family oriented street! We saw families walking by day and night! The buildings are beautiful and well maintained, we felt safe the entire time! Since this was our first trip to Philadelphia, that was a concern of ours, but The Alexander went above and beyond our expectations! The staff was friendly and helpful! The room was very clean, comfortable, and spacious for a downtown hotel room! The architecture inside the building is unique and we enjoyed every minute of our stay

I loved my stay at the Alexander Inn.
The location is great as far as I was concerned. Centrally located regarding everything I was in Philly to see. There are plenty of places to shop and eat within walking distance.
It was a short walk from the train station and withing just a few minutes, I could be at Independence Hall, shopping downtown or dining at Reading Market (which you need to do).
The staff was great. The woman on the evening shift, I believe her name is Sharena (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was charming and her recommendations were spot on. If it's your first time in town, ask

Excellent location, close to Jefferson Medical complex as well as many fun restaurants and bars. Walkable to everything. Rooms are small but clean and functional. The ladies at the front desk (Kris and ?) were wonderful - welcoming, kind and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff was kind but that was just about the only thing about this hotel that was ok. My sheets had stains on them and the room just felt icky.

Additionally- i paid for my room through hotels.com. The hotel charged me $144.... And when i call no one answers. I'm furious actually! Never staying here again

This is an excellent hotel and I really friendly and historic neighborhood. The staff and the service is exceedingly great and I have stayed here twice and love all my stays. They upgraded me twice without ever asking of which I am grateful and I would prefer to just book straight through the facility itself then a third party as I consider these people my friends and my family. It's nice to see they're bringing the hotel back to it's original form. You want a very restful stay with friendly staff and helpful everyday no matter what stay here! 😃

Alexander inn is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of old city. It is within walking distance of all major attraction. It is easily accessible by train from the airport. The staff here is the most friendly and accommodating I've ever encountered. It offers everything you need and nothing you dont. I visited over my birthday and mentioned it to the staff, when I got back to my room that night, they surprised me with a delicious pastry! I have to come back, my visit was fat too short. I will be staying here again. Thank you for making it such a special visit for me!

My gallery (I am an artist) reserved a room here for me on the Hotel's website. The gallery used their card and my name as a check in person but when I got to the hotel, the attendant wouldn't check me in because I didnt have the gallery's card. The card's owner called and tried to reason but they wouldn't let me stay. Threw me out at 9 pm in the middle of the pandemic. If you are a big company reserving rooms for other people or any organization flying people in: do not book here. Unbelievable. I've reserved rooms for people in the U.S, various states this summer

We stay here every time we come to Philly which is quite often since I visit a local hospital regularly. It's in a great part of town. Is always clean and quiet even when at its busiest. Lots of wonderful bars and restaurants nearby with shopping and parking all in walking distance. We love the breakfast before setting out for the day. A great place to stay without breaking the bank

On July 3 I called to make a reservation at The Alexander for the following Saturday. I spoke to John, we discussed room location (and the lantern festival ending that weekend. John helped me select a room and verbally confirmed my booking for next Saturday, checking out Sunday.

When we came to check in just after 4pm Byron could not find our reservation. I told him I had booked it on the phone with John but he could not find it. I recalled I had gotten an email confirmation so I opened the email and showed him my phone. Byron was puzzled as well and could not figure out where our reservation

Really impressed with the service here. Stop by the front desk and see for yourself. The hotel itself is charming, love the lobby area and seating, it's a great place to read a book. The continental breakfast in the morning is pretty good, there are hard boiled eggs for example, and they leave pastries, fruits and some teas 24/7. I can only speak for my room but it was very small with a twin bed, although very nice and I was on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the city. The neighborhood, if you aren't familiar is called "Gayborhood" so I was a little cautious about

We were looking for somewhere special for my wife's birthday!

My plan was to take my wife to a live show at the Academy of Music and spend a fun night in Philadelphia. I found One of the Best places to stay in Philadelphia!
The Alexander Inn is a gem that transcends time. A beautiful setting in a great area, The Alexander has a super friendly staff that you can tell takes pride in where they work.
The appointments and details throughout the hotel were great and made you feel like you were back in time like in a 1940's movie.
Very clean, real furniture (no Formica), and a very comfortable

I think for the price, location, and friendly service, I was very happy with the Alexander Inn and would whole-heartedly recommend it. I don't usually review hotels as much, since, when I pick one, it's usually with an eye towards finding somewhere sufficient to sleep. But there are little touches here and there that show a real heart and soul that might otherwise be lacking in, say, a Marriott or Hilton. Also, if you're an architecture buff, you'll get a kick out of the stained glass windows and the marble floor patterns.

Location: Super convenient. You're right in the

JUST LOVELY ! We stayed here for a few days when my wife had some work related stuff to do in nearby Harrisburg. The staff were all very pleasant and our suite was spotless. It was a short walk to the South St. Markets which were a real treat !
