Services
Red Barn Animal Hospital, with locations in Hampshire and Gilberts, IL, is proud to serve the Hampshire, Gilberts, Pingree Grove, West Dundee, Elgin, and Huntley areas for the healthcare needs of pets. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital are owned by Dr. Katie Stover, who is a licensed, experienced veterinarian.
Hampshire Animal Hospital began as a dairy barn, built in 1900 with concrete blocks produced right here in Hampshire. Our current parking lot was the cow yard. In the 1960's, the barn became a car wash. When the car wash closed in the late 1960's, the building sat vacant for many years.

Dr. Stover is a 2012 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she practiced at Animal Hospital of Woodstock for two years and Bethany Animal Hospital for two years before taking ownership of Hampshire Animal Hospital and Gilberts Animal Clinic, now joined together as Red Barn Animal Hospital.
We believe that preventing illness is more desirable than treating illness. The breed and age of your pet, in addition to your family's lifestyle, are important considerations when recommending routine physical examinations, diagnostics, dental care, preventative care, nutrition counseling and vaccines.
Getting a new puppy or kitten is the beginning of exciting adventure. You are now responsible to provide the care he needs to live a healthy and happy life in your home. Puppies and kittens require special care in their first year. This care begins with a physical examination with one of our doctors so she can create an individualized health care plan for the your new pet's early life stages.

Everyone there is fantastic. Very friendly atmosphere and it's very obvious that everyone who works there is an animal lover. The doctors take time to explain everything and all options to get your pet back to 100%. I moved a little further away but still a reasonable distance so I have no need to change to a closer vet.

My dogs and I are now clients for life! Dr. Stone is so kind and understanding and she listens and answers questions. There is no rush and their fees are reasonable and affordable. And the girls at the front desk are very nice and very helpful, as well. I feel blessed to have found this office and I understand why they are top rated and why many people in these ratings say that they even travel quite a bit to bring their pets here. I only wish that I had found them sooner but now that I have, I will never leave. A good Vet is everything when your fur babies are sick.

From the staff that answers the phone and greet you when you arrive, to the veterinarians that take as much time as necessary to explain to you what's going on, this is the best place in the area if you have pets! We have been taking our dogs here for years, and have never once considered going anywhere else.

We cannot say enough good things about this veterinary clinic and staff. We had a sick elderly pet for which we ultimately had to make a hard decision. The staff was incredibly supportive, understanding, and accommodating, even on days they were already booked. We were treated with total compassion, and felt we couldn't have gotten through that experience without it. We will certainly be bringing whatever furry friends we have next to this wonderful vet!

We have been taking our dogs to the Gilbert's Animal Clinic for a little over 2 years now. Being first time dog owners we have a lot of questions and the staff is always friendly, helpful and willing to answers all of our questions and concerns. The staff is friendly and professional and we feel that our fur kids are in good safe hands every time we visit.

I’ve been taking my dogs here for a few years now. The staff is super friendly and the vet’s are always open to my holistic pet practices. They have fair prices on services and medication and they always advise me of the latest reward opportunities. Like most pet parents, I avoided the vet all summer because I felt uneasy about the curbside service but they were so good to me. They addressed all my concerns over the phone without being rushed and even sent me this cute photo while I waited in my car. Truly love them!

We have been with Dr. Stone for almost 15 years. Her rapport withmy dogs is amazing...plus she knows her stuff. If you are looking for a kind, compassionate vet, I highly recommend Gilbert's. We drive 35 minutes for the privilege of working with Dr. Stone and her staff. They really are the best around.

My dog was sick all weekend and I called on Monday to try to get an appointment. They were booked but managed to squeeze in an appointment for my pup the next day at a time that worked for me. They went above and beyond to help us out. Dr. Stone and her staff are amazing. And talk about affordable! Luckily I leave down the street from the clinic, but if you're anywhere in the area it's worth the drive to GAC.

I've taken my puppy here twice now and have absolutely loved the experience! The staff is so friendly and you can tell they absolutely love and care about your animals! The doctors are knowledgable and take the time to answer all my new pet owner questions. They are down to earth and make me feel comfortable. They have an answer or recommendation for every question. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a knowledgable and friendly vet!
