Steve Benne is the owner and Chef of MOLTO BENNE CATERING and has been in business for over 24 years. Steve is an honor graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, with training in French and Mediterranean food preparation. He has also studied at the Ristorante Mare Kambo in Sicily, Italy, and in Paris.
His interests include the development of diabetic/sugar free desserts, along with a healthier approach to cooking good food in a more mindful way to better and healthier living. Molto Benne's unique style is the product of many years of devoted passion towards food and creative preparation. His added world travels have given him a great insight into cuisines from so many cultures.

Molto Benne Catering offers various cooking classes to small and large groups. All aspects of foods are covered from healthy & lowfat meals, diabetic menus, classic recipes, hors d'oeuvres, entrees & specialty desserts, too. These cooking instructions are based on your personal menu favourites and can be customized to your specific group.

One of Gayle's LLB girlfriends recently invited us over to her luxury high rise home for a Fleet Week party and a stunning view of the City and the Blue Angels. The festivities were very nice catered by Molto Benne, which featured a number of exceptionally tasty appetizers and bite size desserts. We even got to meet the owner (Steve Benne) who obviously has a passion for food, presentation, and helping make an event as this such a pleasure.

Steve is a fabulous chef and host. I have eaten at his home many times and he always serves incredibly tasty, interesting and complex dishes around different menu themes. I have attended parties he has catered; the food has always been exceptional and the wait staff experienced, efficient and courteous. And, he has catered parties at my home. I love working out the menu with him, count in his suggestions and never worry about the food or the service. I'd recommend him highly - for a party big or small.

Molto Benne Catering was referred to me by a friend who previously had an event catered by Steve and his team. I didn't want to be "working" at my own party of about 45 guests and actually enjoyed, for once, being the host and able to circulate with my guests - all due to a professional chef, servers and bartender who anticipate guests needs.

Last Sunday, Molto Benne Catering provided incredible food, service, and kindness for our wedding reception for about 85 people in San Mateo. This must be the 7th or 8th time, Molto Benne has catered for a family gathering, fundraiser or reception related to my family, and we would not hire anyone else for our catering. Always reliable, super thorough, efficient, a consummate professional, great chef and a genuinely caring person, Steve (and his team) are amazing!

I really hesitate to write this review because I know how much yelp reviews effect businesses, but in good conscience, I really feel I should share this information because over 5 years later I am still haunted by the service we received. I am hoping after I share this I can just let it go finally.
I hired Molto Benne Catering in 2007 to cater and bar tend my wedding (~100 guests). We had a horrible experience.
The catering staff started telling my guests that we ran out of alcohol for our signature cocktails about 45 minutes into cocktail hour (not even I- the bride- could get one of the drinks

Steve did catering for a birthday party and it was excellent. He was very flexible and accommodating, as we had to change venue due to weather conditions. He was very pleasant to work with. Everyone enjoyed the food and his presentation! I highly recommend Molto Benne Catering for any stress free event!

I hired Molto Benne to cater a client's 40-person event in May, and they did a fantastic job! Steve prepared an array of scrumptious finger foods and wine for my client and her colleagues.
