I have always just colored my own hair at home. (As a guy I didn't feel the need to take the extra step of going in) but it's my birthday abs I wanted to feel like I treated myself. Wow. What a difference. Fernando colored my hair and toned it and I have never had more compliments on it! It was worth it completely! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the skilled work of someone who enjoys and has passion for their craft versus just getting some maintenance done at home. I would highly recommend the salon and I would highly recommend Fernando. He was funny and knew what I wanted

This was such a great place to get my first proper haircut since Covid. The place is really relaxing with a large open garage door so I felt really good about ventilation and exposure. Fernando was my stylist and he made me feel really welcome and provided the best ever scalp massage. I would come back just for a wash and head massage. He listened well to what I wanted and offered really thoughtful suggestions.
The place does all of the little things that make you feel appreciated as a customer. The quality of the products is top notch and the free follow-up clean up is also a nice touch.

I recently moved to North County and was looking for a new stylist. I will keep looking.
Three major issues:
I expect my stylist to listen to me. I said I would like an inch taken off with layers that blend (no shelf) nicely. I left with a little over 2 inches having been taken off and a lot of choppy layers that do not blend well.
The stylist was so rough with my scalp during the wash, brush and blow dry. My neck was sore later that day and into the next day. If I'm paying for a salon visit, it should feel like I'm getting the best treatment, not like I'm a five year old

I followed Christina from Kelly Cardenas Salon to here at The Collective and I was getting the same amazing experience here as I was getting there. Everyone is super friendly and has really good vibes and they make sure you're comfortable from the second that you walk in.
When Christina was ready I was ushered into the bathroom so I could put on a robe and then put my jacket and bag in the cubby in the closet.
This time was the first time that I wanted to donate my hair and they have all the supplies needed to do so. I made a note when I booked my appointment that I wanted to donate

Beautiful hip salon in Carlsbad. All the stylist are wonderful & are very hard workers. I went to a nearby salon where they previously worked, in which I personally didn't care for the energy there; I feel so much more comfortable & welcomed at The Collective!
I see Mr. Nando! I drive all the way from Mission Hills, San Diego to see Nando. He is extremely talented & most importantly so down to earth! I am very very particular about my hair. I describe exactly what I want & he ALWAYS delivers! & He is FAST!

Charles completed a color correction for me some time ago, and I have been hooked ever since... Not only was my cut and color crafted to perfection, but his patience, guidance, and warmth with a client as particular as I am, is second-to-none.

Absolutely LOVE this place! Ever since i moved to California i've been going to Fernando. He is always sweet and knows exactly what you need but listens to what you want. I was thrilled to hear he opened a place. I only have good things to say about him and his coworkers. Not to mention the location is cute and has and ocean breeze.

Precision! I had my hair cut by Charles. Fantastic cut. Start with a beer, then a wash/massage, then a bomb haircut, then another wash/massage. Sometimes you will get your haircut at place that the stylist doesn't listen to you or do why you ask. Charles on the other hand does. Cuts with precision and expertise. Not only is he good, the environment is really cool. A group of cool stylists. My wife sees Nando and loves his cuts and color as well. It's just a cool place and I have nothing bad to say. If you want an excellent cut, and a relaxing environment, just go. Book now.

If I could give 100 stars to the salon I would! When I go I see Charles (but everyone there is wonderful), I have been seeing Charles for almost 6 years! I found him after 2-3 weeks of extensive research on stylists and salons in the San Diego area, I don't let just anyone touch my hair, I am VERY particular. The first time I went in I needed a color correction. A previously high rated stylist turned my black hair orange somehow, Charles came to my rescue and made my hair beautiful once again! Went to get my hair done here this last Thursday. I loved the atmosphere and service. They have a complimentary snack bar and was offered a glass of wine as well.

Charles has been my hair stylist for 3+ years and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new salon that he's just opened. While his cofounders are equally as well trained and talented, I'm going to brag on Charles for a second. A few of the reasons why I love Charles:
