The Silvera Karate Jitsu (member of the International Budo Ryokukai of Japan) offers a modern approach to a classical Japanese Martial Arts education where we integrate our curriculum with modern science and various martial art principles. Karate Jitsu: We practice the original defensive applications that are covered by our style of Karate.
Silvera Sensei is the Chief Instructor. Also, chief Instructor in Karate of the International Budo Ryokukai in Michigan. He has trained in variety of Martial Arts; such as Iaido, Aikido, Taekwondo, Judo, Ju Jutsu, Krav Maga, Tai chi, Kickboxing, Kung fu and Kudo. His martial arts training started back in 1984 and opened his first dojo in 1988, in Lima-Peru.
Born in 1943, raised near the Atsugi Military Base in Japan. At the age of 12, began studying Karate and Judo. Trained Karate under Kanken Toyama Sensei as an Uchi-deshi (live-in student/apprentice) and received his 3rd Dan in 1963. Niikura Sensei also practiced Aikido and Iaido. In 1973 he founded International Ryokukai Karate-do, a new karate style based on the best of what he had discovered through his study of a variety martial arts.
In our Karate Jutsu seminar, we will practice the original defensive applications that are covered by our style of Shotokan Karate. These bring elements of ground fighting, joint locking, and throwing as well as the punching and kicking methods. This program also includes advanced specialty classes focusing on reality-based weapon defenses (stick, gun, and knife), and mixed martial arts.
We are having a GREAT experience at the Plymouth Silvera Karate Jutsu Dojo! Sensei Oscar was gracious enough to offer my 13 year old daughter a private free class. She instantly fell in love with the program and was eager to come back. I signed my 11 year old son up as well, they are approaching their yellow belt and have learned so much.
