Conveniently located in downtown Northville, the Michigan Academy of Taekwondo provides martial arts classes for people of all ages. If you are a parent who wants your child to try kids' karate classes or an adult who would like to explore the martial arts lifestyle, you have come to the right place.

Our teenage students benefit from killer workouts, challenging martial arts skills and a peer group of outstanding young people striving side-by-side toward a common goal. Adults who train at MAT tell us they increase their athleticism and have found a terrific way to decrease their stress. Taekwondo enables you to embrace a traditional martial art as well as a modern, Olympic sport.
Services
I have trained here, there and everywhere for a workout or a few months. However, the bulk of my training has been with my father at Kicks Taekwondo in Wayne, and through Elite Jiujitsu under Chris Holmes and Chris Blanke. Anything active or adventurous, hanging out with family (especially my grandma) and traveling with my wife.
The purpose of this guide is to provide you an unbiased overview of the martial art and sport of taekwondo - its purpose is not to persuade you that taekwondo is the 'best martial art, or even to convince you to train in it.

Instead, our purpose is to lay out a set of facts, as honestly as we can, to give a genuine representation of taekwondo's strengths and weaknesses, and to let you decide for yourself if it sounds like something worth pursuing.Whether you are in Northville, Novi, Plymouth, or Elsewhere How do you know the right martial arts school for you when you've never done a day of martial arts in your life?
Reputation: Michigan Academy of Taekwondo has served the Northville, Novi and Plymouth areas since 2005. Expertise and Experience: Our head instructors each have more than 20 of teaching experience and more than 30 years of martial arts training under their black belts. Personal Attention: We maintain a ratio of one instructor on the mat for every eight students.
Taekwondo training is fun and rewarding because it is exceptionally challenging. To become proficient in taekwondo, you have to become physically strong, mentally focused and emotionally confident. And though taekwondo can take you to the height of athletic achievement (the Olympics), it is accessible by anyone.
The martial arts lifestyle is a never-ending series of physical and mental challenges that will shape you as a human being. Overcome these challenges class after class, year after year, and you will become a better person - physically stronger, mentally sharper, and grounded by an ancient tradition even as you find your place in a modern, global community.

This place is amazing. Caring, skilled teachers. Lots of class options. We've been here less than a year but love it so far.

I have seen my child blossom into a confident and capable young adult through TKD training. As she navigates her teen years, I am especially thankful for the character building and the life lessons built into the curriculum! The motto at the studio is; Train, Triumph, and Transform -and it’s awesome to see the transformation over the years.

Master Rose and the entire staff at MAT are incredibly talented in the art as well as teaching. It is a comprehensive family oriented program where the students are taught respect, discipline and life skills. They prioritize safety and are a class act. As a mom, I am happy to be a student along with our 5 year old daughter. She has gained so much confidence since joining the program.

My son started Taekwondo at the age of 10 at this school. He was a good student but struggled socially and lacked confidence. Taekwondo was a game changer for him. It gave him structure, goals with a clear path to meet them, a supportive social circle, a sense of belonging and accomplishment, and it built his confidence immeasurably. He didn't make it all the way to black belt, falling one rank shy, but he moved on to wrestling in middle school and eventually was captain of the varsity high school team. He dropped out of Taekwondo at 16 to focus on other things, but the impact on his life was immeasurable

Great place. My daughter has been going here for over a year. Master Rose and his instructors do a great job. I also love the fact that they offer classes other than just TaekWando.

Michigan Academy of TKD is an awesome place to be associated with. The Rose family is technical, precise and incomparable with their knowledge and application of Martial Arts and life skills. Michigan Academy of TKD is a feel good, family oriented place, while delivering training with state of the art equipment and instruction. One of the cleanest and most professional gyms I've had the pleasure of training at. They also have a wide variety of classes to take on their schedule.

My daughter and I have been training at M.A.T. for 5 years. Being part of the M.A.T. community has done wonders for my daughter’s confidence and has helped her in managing ADHD. I have never felt stronger! Master Paul Rose and his leadership team demonstrate the perfect blend of coaching, encouragement and pushing students to fulfill their potential on -and off- the mat. The quality of instruction is second-to-none and the friendships we’ve made at M.A.T. will last a lifetime. Highly recommend this school for aspiring martial artists to Masters of all ages!

My son started Dan Vigil's in October of 2013 as a very timid/soft spoken 5 year old. He is now almost 7 years old and I am in awe of the confidence and maturity that he exudes after being in this program. Master Rose and Master Vigil have helped him grow as a student in martial arts and as a thoughtful, confident child. I am writing this review because as of February 2015 we are moving to Florida and my son will be leaving the school. I was so impressed with this program that I had to tell anyone looking for a school that THIS is the school to enroll your child into. Thank you to everyone at Dan
