Although the beds have been modernized, these very rustic cabins offer all the state-of-the-art amenities of 1923, including: private bath with shower (two cabins have original claw foot tubs), a kitchen with two burner stove (in the one bedroom cabins), kitchen with stove and oven (in the two-bedroom cabins); you'll find a vintage refrigerator in the kitchen or back porch; read a novel on your front porch, and don't worry about the telephone or TV disturbing the tranquility, because there are none!

Established in late 1880's when a rail line was built through the Upper Sacramento River canyon. Originally centered about a mile south of the current town and named Pusher because in this location extra engines were needed to push the train up the steep canyon. Name was changed to Dunsmuir in 1886 when Canada's Alexander Dunsmuir fell in love with the town and promised the town a water fountain if they named the town after his family.
