This program is based on the comprehensive science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. The Aquarian Teacher program is a journey of your development as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher. Breathwalk is the science of combining specific patterns of breathing synchronized with your walking steps and enhanced with the art of directed, meditative attention.

You probably don't need to have a book fall on your head as I did to make a change in your life or even to open up your own yoga studio! You probably listen to your inner teacher today a lot more than I did then. And, as funny as it might sound, I am very grateful that a book fell on my head. I am also grateful that I not only paid attention but that I had the courage to follow a totally different path than the one I had traveled up until then.
The very land is steeped in spirituality, where many ancient practices were developed and perfected over 5,000 years ago. Simply walking the land can leave a profound and lasting imprint on your soul. To transform your life requires a journey which will change the way you view yourself and the world.
Each 'Healing Power of Gong and Mantra' session begins with light yoga (suitable for anybody). Then we move into deep relaxation with not one, but three, beautiful Paiste symphonic gongs. The gong is a reinforced vibration that impacts the entire body by releasing stress, unwinding nerves, and bringing the mind to total calm.
Our minds release 1000 thoughts per wink of an eye. Some of these thoughts get lost in the unconscious, and some get stuck in the subconscious and affect the conscious mind. These thoughts become feelings, emotions, desires, multi-realities or fantasies. Instead of mastering our mind, often our mind and thoughts direct us, which can cause impulsive decisions, poor communication and self-imposed stress.
KYL's Sunday morning class ends at noon. Immediately afterwards we share a vegetarian meal together. We call it 'potluck' but we're imitating the Sikh tradition of 'langar' where a free vegetarian meal is served to all without regard to religion, gender or economic status. Typically, 'langar' implies an act of service of those who prepare the food for those who will eat.

Paid for a class online, realized it was a week behind of what I intended, called a few times and left a voicemail to see if I can transfer it to the next week and never got an answer, nor refund/help re-scheduling. I was really looking forward to attending class but am on a tight budget. The whole interaction didn't coincide with kundalini beliefs, in my opinion. I suggest finding somewhere with understanding management, as people make mistakes.

I took my first class here 10 years ago! I was in high school & taking a piano masterclass in the beautiful Fine Arts Building. One day I wandered in during lunch for a 45 min. class, my first yoga class ever. It was amazing, I got soooo high right away - kundalini is the cleanest fastest high! Highly recommend!!!! It's a really cozy space with padded mats set up so you don't have to bring a mat. Golden space, pop in!

I went to their 16th annual New Year's Eve Yoga party and I'm so glad I did! Shakta and her assistants put together a wonderful evening of Kundalini, meditation, gong bathing, and a pot luck dinner with yummy desserts! So many lovely people there and we saw the Navy Pier fireworks from the top floor of the Fine Arts building which was amazing! What a way to ring in a new decade! Head for KYL to soak up some good vibes !!!

I was looking for a meditation group in the Loop when I found this kundalini yoga studio. I am learning that Kundalini yoga is a combination of breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga postures. That combination fits what I needed. Shakta Kaur, the owner is very welcoming and patiently teaches new students, so new people integrated well with the regular students. I have been attending classes for two months and I am looking forward to keep learning and improving my yoga postures.

I love attending Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev s sessions and can honestly say they are uplifting and positive.
On Sundays after class, KYL hosts potlucks in which they share delicious meals and great conversation with their students. New moon is also amazing to attend, the healing circle is quite therapeutic!

During my recent visit to chicago, i was able to attend several classes here. each one was incredibly useful and well put together! the owners are quite gracious and welcoming.
for those folks new to kundalini yoga, you should expect something quite different than the usual hatha yoga classes. there will be lots of breathing exercises, integrated into the postures, and some chanting. many of the exercise sets are challenging, and the teachers are there to encourage you to keep going.... but, i must tell you, every person i have taken to a kundi class has always felt great afterwards!

Here is no yoga.. only hatred.. To make students feel 'own place' they do tricks like pot luck etc, which are NEVER a part of Yoga.
The money minded lady will spoil your brain with wrong yoga.. The way she pronounces 'om' can vibrate chakras in wrong order and cause mental problems ( though initially feeling better)
I think in LA fitness in S. canal st provides 4 free yoga sessions a week for members which is safer, better and bang for the buck!!

I am a noob when it comes to medidation. I need it so badly but I cannot do it myself--so at lunch I went to this class in the Fine Arts Building..it's not difficult to do from a physical standpoint, no vinyasa, more like holding positions for a long time, some breathing exercises, but the piece de resistance--the gong bath. It's unbelieveable. There's some singing but you don't have sing the chants if you don't want to. But if you need help getting into meditation, this is a lovely respite from the workday. And being in the fine arts building is a treat anyways. You

I wanted to try this yoga place a while ago. My husband and I paid for a couple's yoga class on Valentines day but he ended up having to work late at the last minute. There was no disclaimer that I wouldn't be able to get my money back if I had to cancel. I was even willing to have the money go towards a credit on another class. I called and called and left messages and never got a call back from anyone. Money down the drain I guess.
