Kirtan is a joyous celebration in music in Sanskrit. The repetition of the mantras creates a relaxed state in the mind which is both peaceful and joyous. The word Kirtan comes form the Sanskrit root "kirt" which means "to name, to communicate, to celebrate, to praise, to glorify." Kirtan can be seen as a bridge between our outer and inner selves and an expression of our desire to know and love God within.
Ashtanga is an ancient practice that increases health, well-being, and inner peace. Ashtanga (Level 1-3) covers the first half of the Primary Series. Ashtanga (Level 2-3) covers the full Primary Series. It is a faster, more rigorous class. Ashtanga is a scientific system of postures that are linked together through the breath to calm the mind and strengthen the body.
Yoga Now is a mindful shala, where everyone is made to feel welcome and comfortable. In this fast-paces society in which we live, it helps bring my mind and body into balance.-Maria. It seems that nowadays, everywhere you look there is a new yoga studio popping up, and that this ancient tradition has been westernized in a myriad of ways to serve our busy world in a busy way.
Krishna Pattabhi Jois was an Indian yoga teacher who developed the popular and gymnastic style of yoga referred to as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga. In 1948, Jois established the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute (now known as the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute) in Mysore, India.

Dana, the massage therapist, was a no show. The receptionist was a delight, chatted me up while we waited. She was professional and offered me a refund and a comp at a later date. It seemed that she knew the protocol, as if this happens all the time. I wont be back.

Love this place! I have been there for both massages and yoga.

They have a great atmosphere and welcome everyone. Very friendly and kind staff.

They also have regular massage and yoga sales. One of the more decent priced yoga and massage studios in the river north area. Quality of both yoga and massages are excellent from highly well trained staff.

Other yoga studios may be newer and trendier, but this is the place for yoga as it's meant to be –– a practice that centers your body, mind and heart. Yoga Now has a wide ranges of class types for all skill levels and the instructors are the cream of the crop. I've been going here for nearly 20 years and I'm so grateful I can continue virtually during the pandemic.

Kristin is the best yoga teacher I've ever had. She uses strengths-based teaching to prevent you from second-guessing yourself and giving yourself an out. Her assists are also phenomenal, helping you painlessly get into poses that you thought you weren't ready for. She not only knows yoga, but also anatomy, so you can stay safe and make incredible progress.

I also love the other non-Ashtanga offerings here, from Restorative to Vinyasa. Yoga Now is such a gem, focusing on yoga as a holistic practice rather than just another fitness class. I've gotten so much stronger here even though

I dropped in for a class while In chicago and ended up coming back two more times. The staff are welcoming and patient with a lost and late out of towner. Both Amy and Alyson did a fantastic job creating a accepting and tranquil atmosphere for a beginner. The studio is very nice and the heated couch is very cool idea.

Honestly I've only participated in TWO enjoyable classes here but I'm definitely going to make every effort to enlist in many more classes because I definitely notice a shift for the positive after participating. Yesterday I attended a class on activating the divine feminine with Jennifer Goodman. We were a small gathering of women all seeking to awaken our inner feminine through the use of sound healing or bija mantras, muscle lock exercises called bandha and mudras which are hand gestures to help activate and heal our chakra bodies. The class was 2 hours in length and we enjoyed dance movements

Can't say enough good things about Yoga Now. Great classes and instructors. I appreciate the variety of class options and workshops. And I never feel pressure to be at a certain level or that I'm not doing enough. The instructors offer options for all levels. I also get massages there, which are so good! The staff and owner are so personable, nice, and accommodating. You feel welcomed there and they definitely take care of you!

Best massage in Chicago! Wonderful studio with calming decor and relaxing scents. Each person I have had has been wonderful. Great location right in Old Town.
Full body massage, warm rooms and table, very relaxing background sounds/music, clean, and each person is very genuine when they ask what areas you want to work on. The hour seems catered to your body and muscles - not a simple routine like I've experienced in other places. Highly highly recommend! Also, administrative staff for pre-booking and check in are organized and nice. Overall great experience!

I can’t say enough amazing things about this practice. I came in from out of town on business and was treated so warmly. My practice with Courtney and the heated sauna were just what the doctor ordered. This place is quaint and warm. I ❤️ it and will definitely be back!

I really love their Ashtanga yoga practice here. They have regular classes during the week committed to ashtanga half and full primary series as well as Mysore.

I feel it's authentic here and less of a scene. They have massage therapy and showers.

It's a great place with great experienced people.

Came here for the community yoga class on Sundays. You have to ring the bell from the street since Yoga Now is on the second floor. The interior is very cozy - there's cubbies for your things and also storage for some mats. They also provide mat rentals for $2 and have blocks, pillows, etc for free use if they are used in a class. The staff here is so nice - they are very kind and always seem very relaxed. The interior is kept a little warm which will get you to sweat, but might be a little too warm if you have long tights on.

They have one large room for lessons, that has pretty good natural

Really disappointed. Their website and reviews make this place sound great -- but only if you can actually book an appointment. I tried to book online, but they left me a message that I'd have to prepay, which in 20 years of getting massages no one has ever asked for. I went back online and tried to rebook with payment info - two more times - and both times they left me a message that it didn't go through and to try again. I finally called after the 3rd online booking fail, and they said the online system doesn't work for iPhones but usually does for laptops (I was using an iPad

My swedish massage with Kelly Oshito was the besssst! I had a stiff neck and sore shoulders and she totally got rid of all the tension. She was very helpful and got me water and cough drops as I suddenly got a dry cough massage. Yoga Now has a great spa vibeas well.

Everyone was very friendly. Tatiana is beautiful and she gave me a wonderful massage. It was a beautiful building, smelled great, and was very clean. Thank you!!!!!!

I've been a longtime visitor of the facility and live in the neighborhood. This place has many positives and negatives. Today, for example, I was not able to buzz in in time for the class and was denied. The person at the desk was very rude about it as well. I want to like this place as I was first introduced to it from a massage and have had many great yoga sessions here but they really need to respect their loyal customers. I'm literally signing up for ClassPass right now instead, in search of a better customer experience.

I won a contest and received a free 60 minute massage and a free month of yoga from Yoga Now.
Massage: My massage was with Jerrell, and I will definitely be returning to see him in the future. I asked for a balance between deep tissue and swedish and told him about my sore spots (from workouts). He left time to stretch me at the end (assisted stretching is amazing and almost as good as a massage). It was a great massage.

Yoga: I mostly attended vinyasa classes, but I did take the opportunity to try a new style (Forrest). I really like that this studio offers 5 different types of yoga

This is a sweet gem. My fiancé purchased 5 massages here for me and my first visit I talked about it for weeks. Being pregnant can wear you down so the Maternity Massage was everything I needed. The ambiance of the space is even therapeutic and relaxing. It's not one of those fancy downtown joints, it's a cozy, relaxing, we care about you place. Which is what I needed for my very first professional massage. So good it will put you to sleep! I'm hooked now and won't go anywhere else.

Yesterday I scheduled a one hour Swedish massage with Alina. Today, I feel like a million bucks! I'm writing this review from bed, which is important, because I''m finally able to sleep well! Alina is a master of her craft. She is professional and knowledgeable. She focused on the areas that were troubling me the most and really worked hard to provide a therapeutic and relaxing experience. I had never been to Yoga Now before and Alina took the time to explain where things were and even brought me tea & water. The atmosphere is wonderful there. Everyone is polite and helpful. One of the best yoga studios I have been to.
Forrest yoga here is awesome - one of my favorite styles.
The restorative classes are the best. It's like my mini rejuvenation.
I started at core power yoga which has pretty studios but I was starting to get the feeling it was turning into one of those glitzy commercial places that has lost touch with its original intent. I came here just to try something different and first class I was pleasantly surprised. The instructors here are higher quality and so are the classes, which are more in depth as well as having more breadth in their variety. After

This morning had a massage with Kate. It was great!! Her perky attitude helped to wake me up then before long I was in a trance.

She explained what she was doing-- but didn't try to fill the silence. And, actually made me feel better about my problem areas with her knowledge.

The room was very warm. So was the bed. The guitar strumming was a lovely melody. And, I was happy that they were available in the a.m. for me.

Spending a wintery week in Chicago - coming from Phoenix - this yoga find was a much needed escape from the frostbite. I was determined to keep moving despite the cold's attempt to hijack my body and motivation, and attending a few classes here did just the trick! I only took Ashtanga with Kim, but would likely go out of my way next time in town just to come to class here.

I like the cozy entrance and heated bench. I'm not one for frills when it comes to a studio, so a humble ambience that can still pull off being inviting is good enough for me. Complimentary water and tea, quality mats

This review is for massages ONLY.

I was always one to jump around between massage therapist; I never had one that I really loved or really hated. I guess they were all mediocre. That's until I met Taryn. My God, she is phenomenal. She knows exactly where I'm tense and applies the perfect amount of pressure. Afterwards, she recommends specific stretches for me to do. She is my go-to woman. But please don't overbook her schedule after reading this (and the many other) reviews - I want to still be able to see her! :)

I've only taken a few classes here but the vibe is down-to-earth, genuine and they promote a learning atmosphere. It is the total opposite of Core Power, where everything is tailor-cut, from classes to rates to music to the instruction. I prefer the grounded energy of this studio and the uniqueness of the instructors. Oh, also, they have a sauna!

Came here because I was in desperate need of a massage. Found a Groupon and checked out the reviews on Yelp (of course) and decided Yoga Now was where I was going.

Made my appointment the day before, it's all done online and is super easy.

The minute I walked into the space I was greeted by the nicest man who offered me water or green tea and gave me a tour of the space. They have this amazing heated rock bench that is in the lobby, I kinda want one for my house.

My appointment was with Chris. Before we started he asked me if there were any special areas he needed to work on, um
