Overbrook Preschool & Kindergarten
Overbrook Preschool and Kindergarten's educational program is based on the principle that a sense of competency and self-esteem is the foundation upon which future academic success is built. Our vibrant educational setting provides each child with an opportunity for hands-on learning experiences in a safe and challenging environment, nurtured and guided by dedicated, professional teachers.

Children engage in meaningful, play-based activities based on their interests and abilities, which are the building blocks for cognitive, social, and emotional learning. For over 50 years, Overbrook Preschool and Kindergarten has created a joyful learning environment in which children are encouraged to explore and wonder, curiosity is nourished, and the development of social competency is of primary importance.
Services
In 1965, after thoughtful study and planning, Overbrook Presbyterian Church Preschool was created by members of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church as an outreach mission to the community. The curriculum of this week-day preschool nursery was rooted in the values of the Church and also reflected a deep understanding of early childhood development and the ways in which children learn best about the world around them.
The development of a child's social and emotional competency is the basis of the Overbrook Preschool early childhood curriculum. There is a strong correlation between social and emotional development and academic and cognitive growth. Teachers use one of our favorite resources, The Responsive Classroom Approach, developed by the Northeast Foundation for Children, as a basis for our morning meeting time with children.
The culmination of the early childhood philosophy is realized in our unique Kindergarten. The program hours are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The classroom is specifically designed for the Kindergarten experience, with a maximum class size of 20 students staffed by a Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher.
Relationships enrich our learning at Overbrook, and we enjoy ever-growing connections with a number of community neighbors. These partnerships enrich the children's experiences and complement our classroom explorations. We believe that strong community partnerships help instill the value of community in our children while also creating fun and unique learning experiences.
Overbrook Preschool and Kindergarten is housed in the historic building of Overbrook Presbyterian Church. Each classroom reflects Overbrook's emphasis on child-led exploration and meaningful, play-based activities. The children's ideas, questions, curiosity, and interests define the classroom exploration and guide teachers as they design their rooms.

Report
We have been a part of the Overbrook Preschool and Kindergarten for the past 7 years. Starting with my daughter who is now in third grade through my youngest son who is now in one of the 4 year old classes. We could not have been happier with the play based educational experience for our children. Not only are the teachers wonderful but the larger community of parents, teachers and adminitstrators is one that is incredibly kind, caring and supportive. I highly recommend Overbrook Preschool and Kindergarten.
