Services
This weekend workshop will not only deepen your understanding of Shadow yoga but of the Classical Hatha Yoga practice in theory, philosophy and practical application. The four day subsequent Thursday evening immersion will introduce and refine the first prelude of the Shadow yoga forms: the balakrama--stepping into strength.
Acrobatic Partner Yoga is a practice that blends the age old wisdom of yoga with basic partner acrobatics, physical conditioning and healing arts techniques. The class is designed to increase strength, flexibility, coordination and sensitivity in a safe and progressive way. For safety, spotters are always used in acrobatic sequences.
Join Gary Kraftsow in a workshop designed for students and teachers of all levels who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of asana. Practitioners will learn to use asana as a means to better understand their bodies and begin to transform their present conditions.

Teachers can further their understanding of what is happening in their students' bodies, and learn how to use adaptation in asana to move their students toward transformation.Friday - 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Asana is a means or a tool to help you understand and transform your present condition, not a goal nor an end in itself.
As our understanding of yoga technology and movement science continues to evolve, it is becoming more and more evident that our physical and health is informed by our willingness to play and explore movement in diverse and varied ways. Join International master instructor Rocky Heron for an illuminating and playful weekend of Yoga Skills and Drills!
We are excited to announce Yoga Shala's Advanced Studies & Teacher Training 200 & 500 hour Program. Already have a 200 hour certification? This program also allows you to customize your continued learning to bring you up to the 500 hour mark. We will gladly meet with you to help plan the best course for you.

Loud, social focused studio due to the emphasis on acro yoga. Changed owners which caused the only two teachers I liked to go to other studios and a studio shut down during a paid month of membership.

I just finished my first class here with Ying. I feel amazing. I was looking for a way to connect and serve my body as my daily working role has become more stagnant and computer oriented and I feel completely connected, grounded, and more alert than I have in weeks. Ying is an amazing practitioner and teacher. She offers a wonderful balance of challenge, structure and fun. The studio is clean, calm and organized. The staff is polite, knowledgeable and laid back. My only suggestion would be to allow people to try a class before signing up for the month initial offer.

Beautiful open space. Paul taught a thoughtful, vigorous yet cooling vinyasa class in prep for our 100 degree day. They let me use a private space for a 10 min meditation after class.

Signed up for the 2 week special for $25. They now have 30 days for $40 I think.

Will definitely be back. They have acroyoga on weeknights , gonna make it happen next week.

This rating is for Ivett's kids' yoga classes. Ivett has a wonderful warm, slow energy and brings both fun and thoughtfulness to her classes. Our son did them for about a year and we also did some mother-child yoga sessions with Ivett. I really enjoyed those both for myself and also for the connectedness it built with my son. Ivett is a keeper.

I've enjoyed the donation vinyasa and the power hour classes that I've taken here. It's a beautiful studio and I love that they have so many props available.

I've been coming here for four years, and it pains me to give only two stars because the teachers are fantastic and sometimes the childcare is too (though occasionally the child care person doesn't seem to like kids which is an issue.) But mostly, I LOVE the yoga here, but the business part is just not together. The schedule is not updated and more than a couple times I've arrived with two kids in tow for yoga since childcare is also listed as available that day, and shown up to hear that the childcare person didn't show up. Also the front desk situation is *constant* confusion

I have only attended the pre-natal yoga classes at YogaShala, and highly recommend them to expecting mothers. It's not so much about actual yoga, but being around other pregnant women, and taking the time to do something for yourself while you're going through such a significant process. The "yoga" is more like deep stretching, which is actually appropriate considering the context. If you're looking for real exercise during your pregnancy, this is not the best option for you.

I started the prenatal classes during my first trimester, and attended until ~2 weeks before

The shala is a beautiful, calming place with high ceilings, stylish design, large open studios with hard flooring, and a great shop with quality yogic literature. They have instructors and bring out-of-town workshop presenters from a number of different well-established yoga traditions. It was my main yoga studio for 10/so years. During that time, I was introduced to unique guidance in Shadow Yoga, the Yoga Sutras, and Yoga Therapy utilizing Asana, Mantra, and Pranyama. I highly recommend Char R. She is an amazing instructor, who has classes that are packed with devoted students who have stuck

I first started coming here when I became pregnant and was looking for prenantal yoga. From the very first class I was hooked. The instructor, Tanya, has been teaching this class for quite some time and even does Mom/Baby and Pre-/Post-natal workshops. She really knows what she's doing and is very accommodating to every new mom. The Saturday classes are incredibly packed but I was never turned away. A wonderful way to spend 90 minutes when pregnant.

I then came here after I delivered and had a simliar wonderful experience. Happy instructors, great classes. Also, it's a great space for

Aesthetically, this is a yoga studio of the portland modern feel. I took some prenatal classes here and Tonya was really great, as was her prenatal massage. They also have childcare which is a nice bonus.

Today was my second time visiting Shala as a drop in. The yoga practice is amazing, I attended Vinyasa II with Danielle and her instruction is such a treat! Both times I have been, I felt so welcomed, everyone is so friendly and nice. You know that outsider feeling you get when you visit a place for the first time? Well, you don't get that here!
Also, I brought my two boys with me, ages 3 and 6 to visit Shala Kids. Steve was amazing with both of them, as I settled into my asanas, I could hear the giggles of my boys having a great time. My 3 year old even cried because he didn't want to

I love yoga, but have been attending yoga classes at my gym for the last year to save money. Finally - I'd had enough! I asked around, and this was one of the top two recommended studios from my friends - and it is worth the recommendation.

I have been attending the Friday morning Vinyasa 2 class with Danielle, and it is terrific. She has a beautiful voice (I love all the chanting we do in class) and is a fantastic teacher. She is great at correcting poses, pushing when she can tell a student needs to be pushed, and suggesting a modification when she can tell someone needs it (things that

In a world where yoga gets a bad rap (see recent Time Magazine article), it's good to know there is at least one place in Portland where you can get attentive and knowledgeable yoga instructors. In fact, Shala also doubles as a school for wanna-be yogis and yoga teachers. They offer a variety of levels and yoga styles and provide a clean and comfortable atmosphere. It's a great place to go whether you are just a beginner or if you've been practicing a long time. Just don't go expecting a power workout. Although Shala offers varying levels of classes, none of them resembles
