Yoga On Yamhill
We've been a practicing Urban Yoga Studio since 2010. The foundation of our studio combines the physical with the inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating body, breath, movement, and meditative awareness, we promote awareness of the interdependency of all these aspects in personal health and wellbeing.

At Yoga on Yamhill, we use our extensive training and in-depth understanding of the human body and psyche to teach and cultivate awareness of one's own practice and life process. We foster a non-competitive, "stay in your own practice" approach, encouraging awareness of breath and meditation, in addition to the asanas to bring the practice of yoga to a deeper level.
Services
This dynamic class links breath with movement and incorporates a continuous flow of postures. A vigorous style of yoga, Vinyasa will test your strength, balance and flexibility, while creating internal heat. Slow flow explores longer holding postures to engage the muscles and cultivate strength and flexibility.
In March of 2000, I began practicing yoga in the studio of Bryan Kest, a pioneer of Power Yoga. Learning his dynamic style and mix of disciplines allowed me to understand that there was a lot more to yoga then just the physical poses we practice in an asana class. In 2004 I began to look at the underlying principles of my daily practice.
Amy's practice started in college, first in Hatha Yoga, then in Ashtanga. She practiced at PSU for 4 years, until graduating in 2006. She came back to a regular practice in 2010, searching for an Ashtanga class, and discovered Vinyasa Flow. At a transitional point in her personal life, she found the direction she needed in practice.
In the many years of addiction, the practices of yoga and related areas of holistic processes are what have helped me stay grounded in sobriety. I have always felt an estrangment in traditional recovery paradigms. However some of the friends I have meet in 12- step based programs along the way that gave me support for my pursuit of a holistic recovery were tremendously helpful.

One of the best yoga studios in Portland. Especially for yin, restorative and yoga nidra. This is the spot!

First time at the studio with my friend: At the beginning of class, our instructor (male) asked if we wanted adjustment & assistance through tough and proceeded to give us a little card that said yes on one side & no on another to place in front of our mats to answer. Being it a man we just met, we both flipped our cards to “no.” The instructor repeatedly physically adjusted both of us, and at one point in class I noticed him giving a lower back massage to another woman in the class. (?????????)
The studio was grubby, and the environment was not at all relaxing or restorative.

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality
Yoga in Yamhill has really embraced their community in this time of need by offering their services online. I can stay home, stay safe and still get all the benefits of my regular instructor. I've been going to Amy for about 7 years who is a phenomenal instructor with dynamic and appropriately challenging flows.

Never done anything like this. It’s was a very welcoming environment. Amazing experience all around. Aaron was an incredible instructor. The class it's was very peaceful and it's almost like therapy. It’s crazy how much breathing can change the way you feel physically and mentally in such a dramatic and positive way.

This place is amazing. It has all the regular vinyasa and power yoga classes, but there are others tailored to a different crowd is well. I adore Friday night therapeutic yoga, it’s a little bit on the more experimental side, mixing yoga nidra and yin yoga with a focus on relaxation and breath working. I love it, it’s beyond the usual exercise yoga and a little more than your average meditation class. The teacher is so nice and so Knowledgeable.
Highly recommend

I absolutely love this studio. All the teachers I've taken class with are supportive and skilled. Vinyasa classes are definitely challenging enough to get a little bit of a sweat going! I've been practicing for a couple years and it keeps me really interested. Yet, poses offered with modifications for if you're just starting out with yoga. They have all sorts of different styles of yoga, but I tend to just stick to the the vinyasa classes.
PLUS, it's donation-based with a monthly membership option that is less than half of what a usual yoga studio would charge. I can't say enough good things about

Great spot for practising your skills or if you are a beginner, gaining some new ones .The yoga studio is on two floors and their are changing rooms as well as washrooms, water ,cubbies to store your stuff etc.The space is very clean and well kept and the huge windows upstairs are great for daytime yoga flows with a lot of sunlight.Their are mats ,bolsters and blocks you can borrow or you can get your own .I have tried a couple different classes and I felt very comfortable and welcome in most .Some classes can be challenging for beginners ,but the instructors are very supportive and provide modifications

Although I appreciate the class offered as a donation-based service and the instructors were very kind and patient, I'd be weary of the cleanliness and atmosphere of the fluctuation of classes and incense burning (which I usually like). I felt fabulous leaving the restorative class about a week ago but woke up with a major congestion. I felt like I had allergies for a solid 4-5 days where no allergy medicine was helping, my ears were plugged, eyes watering, I was constantly sneezing and had a terrible runny nose. I am finally starting to feel better but am still a little congested, nothing

Incredible that this studio offers donation based yoga in a time that so many others are charging outrageous prices to practice an art that is so beneficial for absolutely everyone. Quality classes, quality teachers. Thank you!

This is the best yoga studio I’ve ever been to! It has great natural lighting, calming scents, music, offers free clean mats, storage as well as private changing areas. Paul’s instruction is soothing, educational and attainable. It can get a little crowded so go early to get a decent spot...

I am so glad I discovered yoga at this amazing studio! Alicia’s, Angela’s and Heather's classes are all so great! I've been referring all my friends and relatives to give yoga a try. It has truly been a life changing experience and I’m so grateful I bought the Groupon and decided to give yoga a try. I’m hooked on it’s benefits and will continue to be a regular at this wonderful yoga studio!

I did a workshop and a class while in town for business. I highly recommend this studio. Nola is a great instructor. The studio is donation based but important to note you should bring cash. A good workout but a nice balance of calm energy as well. Very welcoming and mats you can use.

When I travel I like to go to yoga classes..and I dropped by here since they have a donation based class and drop-ins are welcome! There is an upstairs and downstairs studio. Schedule is online but make sure to check day of in case classes get cancelled.

The one I was planning to go to got cancelled but luckily I also wanted to do the next one which was a Vinyasa Flow. There are mats to use free of charge. There is water from the tap and cubbies in the studio to put your stuff. There are restrooms, bolsters, blankets, straps, blocks.

I feel like since people come from all over, the practice

I could go on forever about this place! The atmosphere and instructors are amazing. The donation basis is what started me coming here since I couldn't afford much at the time and I haven't left since.

I was visiting from out of town, so wanted to go to a yoga place to get my fix. Found Yoga on Yamhill via Yelp and what a great find! I took the intermediate vinyasa flow class on Tuesday @9:30. It was such a great practice. The instructor Nola was very friendly, attentive and showed you variations for each pose. The class will definitely give you a good sweat and workout. We even got to try headstands, so that was a treat. The studio and equipment(mats, blocks, etc) were all very clean so gotta love that! they are a donation based yoga studio, so thought that was great too. I didn't feel

From the first steps into the studio I knew I had made the right choice.
The building smelled of incense and The Beatles played in the background.
Even on a hot summers day, the large open studio was cool and relaxing. David, the restorative instructor was welcoming and very informative.
Lots of props and a beautiful plant room makes this perfect place to unwind and go within. Thanks

I was in Portland for a few days and went to an early morning class at Yoga on Yamhill. The idea of making a donation rather than having a fixed class price is refreshing. The studio had gorgeous exposed brick walls that created a grounded ambience. Sara taught a beautiful vinyasa flow with options for all. It was a wonderful way to start the day. Thank you!

I love yoga on yamhill. Have been to three classes now, with three different teachers, and loved each one. My partner and out of town best friend (who came with me to Power Yoga recently) agree.

I am so happy we have a donation-based yoga space in Portland. It always bothers me to pay $17 for a drop in class and I so appreciate that they let folks contribute what they can. I hope they stay around forever!

I've been coming to this studio on and off for about a year or two. They recently opened up a second room upstairs, which really allows for more room in the classes, which is great.

My overall feedback for this studio is this: find out which instructors meet your style, and keep going back to them. For a long time I just went to the open times that worked best for my schedule, but would leave disappointed if a teacher wasn't leading a fast paced flow like I prefer. I finally know who my favorite instructors are that will leave me feeling satisfied after a yoga class, and I go back to
