Burning Spirits Yoga
Burning Spirits Yoga is a place of relief and deep, transformative healing for anyone one seeking shelter in their yoga practice. We simply want to share with others what has been shared with us: the knowledge that this practice can change lives. Simply put, the breath guides you, heals you, and relieves you from suffering caused by attachment, detachment, fear and stories.

By healing ourselves, we heal communities. We are forever students, deeply devoted to the roots and lineage of this practice. If you have been impacted by a lifetime of internalized oppression and systemic racism, homophobia, and/or ableism, then you are especially welcome. If you want guides and students who look like you, we're here.

Sandee firmly believes it is never too late to start a yoga practice. Although she came to the yoga mat at various times in her life, it didn't resonate with her until her mid 40s, when she came to heal from emotional, spiritual and physical pain. As she physically healed, she found unexpected gifts of love, resilience, patience and acceptance.
Thanks to our many donors, we have full and partial scholarships available for our Heart of Vinyasa Teacher Training! We are prioritizing awarding scholarships to BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, folx with a disability and/or people in recovery who are committed to teaching yoga and supporting the mission of Yoga Punx PDX.
Ashtanga yoga is learned in what's called a "Mysore Style" class where you develop an individualized practice with the support and guidance of a teacher who, if certified, has spent decades steeped in the tradition and engaged in serious practice. This was the teaching method in (Mysuru) Mysore, South India, hence the source of the name "Mysore Style".
Yoga Punx brings yoga to the people! If you have every felt unwelcome or unseen, we are here and we see you. This class does hold true to the traditional aspects of yoga philosophy, the 8 limbs of yoga, and the true spirit of DIY punk philosophy. We believe in freedom for all Beings. Come as you are, be yourself with no judgement.

I started coming to this studio as a first timer 6 months ago. Not surprised I got hooked on the space and instructors....but what WAS surprising is the community in this space. I've met so many wonder instructors and regulars next to me on my mat. My world really has expanded coming here, both in head space and connections. Highly recommended if you are new to yoga and want to start. The people there are super encouraging and comfortable to be around.

I have had many great yoga a sessions here. I have had some great one-on-one sessions with instructors that have dedicated their time and efforts focusing on me as much as I was comfortable with. I have taken a few people to their 1st ever yoga class at the studio. I am so happy to have found them.

The coolest yoga studio in town! Traditional Ashtanga with Mysore style and Led Primary is the best. So many interesting classes to choose from, including Metal Yoga, Bhakti flow, Kundalini, even Tribal Bellydance! A unique and beautiful space, with amazing teachers dedicated to deepening the yoga practice.
