My wife and I stayed over the weekend during our bike trip and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and ready. Staff was very attentive to our needs. The Inn is updated but still has that old "travel lodge" feeling I used to get when I traveled as a kid. When we return to the area, we will be staying at Inn of the Hills.
We stumbled across this place when booking a last minute trip to Fredericksburg. While this was a little out of the way of our destination it was well worth the drive. The grounds are lovely and well-kept, our room was clean and spacious, the restaurant was delicious, and the staff was wonderful. These folks hosted our son's wedding, which involved use of several facilities at different times.

In 1963, entrepreneur Gene Lehmann began construction of a lodge just west of town. The locals smiled about his project, predicting little chance of success. Undeterred by the chitchat, Lehmann moved ahead, obtaining a first-rate architectural firm to design his vision for a resort hotel. From wrought-iron handrails to solid timbers imported from Canada, he spared no expense.
For over 50-years, the Inn of the Hills has been a hot spot for Kerrville's dining and nightlife. Whether you're looking for casual dining or live Texas music, the Inn has it all! The Inn Pub and the Inn Cafe are both accessible from the hotel lobby and are two of the city's most popular dining and entertainment establishments.
The Inn of the Hills Conference Center provides more than 22,000 square feet of indoor space that can accommodate banquets for up to 600 guests or classroom-style seating for up to 500 meeting and lecture participants. The 4,000 square foot lobby of the Conference Center provides an inviting backdrop for exhibitor space and is perfectly suited for meeting registration, receptions, and coffee breaks.

This hotel looks beautiful but majority of the staff is rude, disrespectful and should not be working in hospitality. We only had a standard king bed room.We stayed there 2 weeks. On the last day there was confusion with his company and the hotel with the check out date so they assumed we were leaving that day. The house keeper knocked on the door and then just opened the door and tried to walk in.

By giving this 3 stars, I'm being generous -- just because there's slim pickings in Kerrville. We were expecting a Hill Country experience but what we got was the remnants of what was likely a charming hotel...30/40 years ago. Lots of crafted stone and metal work, and some attempts to update, but just not hitting the mark. It's just too dated. Rooms had been semi updated with quartz countertops in the open sink area, but they used a plastic tub and shower unit in the tiny bathroom. Satisfactory, but not nice. They put in a wood ceiling, which works well against the limestone wall

Rating is based on overall experience, not comparing this to a fancy chain hotel.
Hotel is best to River and is an old property, but very well maintained, and just takes you back to older times (in a good way). Not technologically advanced, so a good place to unplug and relax.
We stay there every year for the Kerrville triathlon and the staff is friendly and you get a great value. Again, it's dates, but a great hill country experience.
Our kids enjoy the stay.

Very fancy and clean, but poor service left me disappointed. We booked with a group, and somehow our room was booked for only one night instead of two. I had to wait til the next day for the head of the group to fix it. It's a large complex, so I finally get me pregnant self, luggage, and two kids to our room to find out our keys don't work. I called the front desk and they told me to come back. I asked someone to meet me at the door. 15+ mins later someone did to let us in but still had to come back later with working keys. When we finally got our second night booked, they had to issue

Three for bad marketing. On their giant street sign they advertise buffets, but on their web site, there's barely any mention of the buffet. I finally found the price of the buffet on the regular menu, but nothing else. I figured maybe a rundown of what's in each different buffet because it is a little pricy but could pique my interest more if I knew what's being served, a reading of the menu is very enticing. When I try it I'll write a real review. The place looks real nice and comfortable and it's not a chain hotel.

Inn of the hills, like most food service that does room service and in house dining, is a failure in the food service sector. Room service delivery fees should go to those who prepare our meals, not the hotel. Room service is from the past, when people showed appreciation to those delivering dinner, And being ungrateful to your server has become par for the course. That's why gratuity is included in your bill, because the average American trys to get out of paying a decent tip to servers, wrongfully assuming the place of employment cares about what their service employees make.

The hotel is located right off a highway and right next the Guadalupe river. Older property but clean.
There are regular rooms, slightly larger rooms and cabana rooms. Those run about $140-160 a night depending on your traveled dates. There was a car show here when we arrived it there was still plenty of rooms and parking space.
Pros:
Scenic views
Great hotel for a conference as it has many conference rooms
Good parking
Across from food and liquor store
Close to highways
Cabana section is closed off with own pool.
Large pool
Restaurant on site
Fridge inside
Microwave inside
Cons:

I have never felt so discriminated for being a frontline staff. I became a nurse to help people in need and due to the pandemic we were relocated to continue to care for our pt's but the hotel refuses to care for our basic needs due to "we are hospital employees". I wonder if they will one day need our help when they are sick. We are being punished for doing our job.

Well the food is great but thee service is lacking. Glasses rarely get refilled without having to find someone. This was our second visit because the food and atmosphere was great. The young girl Monday rang me up wrong twice. The worst part is I gave her my coupon for buy one get one that I received as a gift. First , she charged me for the whole table but I said two buffets. Then she "fixed" it but did not use the coupon and kept it. While Complaining of a headache. We really want this to be our new spot but service and not getting to use my coupon really was frustrating.

My family and I decided to come down To the hill country for the holidays, figured staying in a nice hotel in the center in town would be our best ideal. We planned to stay 6 night and 7 days. We're military and traveled 8 hours away to relax and see family in the hill country. We are a family of 3. It wasn't until a couple nights later that my husband encountered multiple bites All over his body that seemed to double Numbers rapidly. While out in town, leaving the hotel, he pulled his wallet out to what seemed like a red tick. Come to find out it was a bed bug. Enlarged. We return to

Expected more based off Expedia reviews. Was VERY dissatisfied! Checking in I shared I had 6 in my party. No one felt it was important to share that the hide away bed was busted. Therefore my children slept on the floor. The pool was decent but no towels. Upon requesting towels, front desk clerk was rude. At checkout when I shared the issue with the couch I was told that they knew that it was busted. I asked why I wasn't told of the issue especially when they knew I had 6 people in the room. No explanation was given. Just "I'm sorry, I'll give you a discount!" How about

After reading these reviews my sister in law thought it would be a great place to stay while in Kerrville looking for properties. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Two rooms were booked and upon going to warm something up in the microwave we found a bowl of soup that had been there a while. Later that night my family went to the other room for the night to find a roach in the middle of the floor turned upside down. Upon being notified the staff moved them to another room which had another roach on the wall when they got there. Again.....another move.

Stayed at the hotel, didnt really eat in the restaurant, but they were kind enough to get me hot water for my jello that i make like tea. (It helps with jetlag and settling my stomache.)
I loved walking around the hotel and the quantness they developed within their landscaping. Their pools and waterfalls were so peaceful.
I want to build a pool back home like theirs!

The photographer for their website photos should get a commission for every booking this place receives based on their website. I could see glimpses of the photos after wandering around a bit, but this place needs major upkeep. Everything is locked in time. The room - oh my - not bad enough to leave, but not what I expected (after seeing the pictures). Probably the worst was the bathroom. The granite counter was an attempt to renovate, however, it didn't fit. There were gaps on the sides and the back. The shower/toilet, geez. You had to remove the toilet paper from the wall so you could sit

The pictures are amazing! Upon arrival we were given a room that's accessed from the outside. Wife wasn't comfortable so they did move us inside but hat room had a horrible smell, crown molding missing pieces and wallpaper coming off the walls.
The only bright star was Darla who helped us and was very compassionate. She cancelled us with a full refund.
I would pass until the renovated!

I honestly don't know how this place only has 2.5 stars. I gave it 4, but would give it 4.5 if I could. Some parts of the resort are very outdated, but you can tell they are honestly trying hard to keep with the times.
The rooms are newly renovated and great! Really cool aesthetic with stone walls and wooden ceiling. Bed was very comfortable.
I saw on hotels.com a TON of people complaining that the ACs don't work well in the guest rooms and that had me really worried (it's August!) But our AC was perfect! I even had to turn it down some in the middle of the night.
