Pownal Veterinary Hospital is proud to serve the Pownal, Maine area for everything pet-related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Karen Richter-Hall, who is a licensed, experienced Pownal veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately.
Rodenticides: Most people are aware of the danger of rat poisons to dogs and cats, but there are new products on the market that are of even greater concern. Symptoms include abnormal behavior, confusion, loss of balance and coordination, increased sensitivity to touch, seizures, and death. Anitfreeze: Ethylene glycol, the active ingredient in most antifreeze products, is highly toxic and affects the nervous system and kidneys.
Our hospital is located at 191 Hallowell Road in Pownal, which is about one and one-half miles south of Bradbury Mountain State Park. Absolutely one of the best veterinary services I’ve ever used. Kind, professional and extremely knowledgeable. They are excellent with our dogs and kitty and always happy to answer a call to guide us through any questions. They care about what they do and it shows. I highly recommend especially for those with large working/herding breeds.

Would never recommend this over priced vet. In my opinion Karen needs to go back to school to learn newer tactics. She completely misdiagnosed my puppy, in the result of him passing away a few weeks later. Someone also deleted my Google review I made a year ago. Would NEVER go here again or recommend to anyone. đź‘Ť

The previous reviews are to be taken with a grain of salt. Our 3 pets go here and the prices are always fair. Karen is a real pro who cares a lot about all her patients. She has a heart of gold. Do not hesitate to go to Pownal Vet. The service is always friendly and the staff is very knowledgable and helpful.

When being quoted a price and then the price is twice the amount you were quoted and questioned why...... they said I was being "rude" ... we are happy to find a new Veterinarian that is in general compassionate, honest, and caring. Someone our dogs can grow with.
The prices are 2xs as much as other local Veterinary practices in our area. We only choose to go to them because our dog that passed away a few years ago went there.

Yes, they treat you and your pet like family and they are understanding cause they know how expensive pet care can be. they even put up with us talking their ears off!
I hope my cat gets better, but I know, regardless, she had great care.
This vet was recommended to me by another vet. So that is cool. I like that. They recommend others to my vet too. Even cooler. I don't care too much for businesses that think they can do it all. This place is the best.
